Chapter 30: False Idol

When I went to The Rumbler that night, I was alone in the world. I was the lone follower of a goddess who had descended to earth. I could have been content with that. But not anymore. Not when I didn’t need to be.
Not when there were others who could be just as devoted to Jessica as I was.
Two of my friends had understood what Jessica really was within minutes. Within an hour, the staff and all other patrons of The Rumbler acknowledged Jessica for what she was.
At first it was just a pleasant surprise that the others were willing to listen to what I had to say. But I quickly noticed a pattern.
People were only willing to accept what Jessica was after I, or another person who had accepted her divine status, touched them.
Looking back, that made perfect sense.
