Chapter 26: Fury

*Robin*

Something was wrong.

Something was very, very wrong.

I’d gone to Jessica simply planning to spend time with my girlfriend. My queen. My angel. My goddess. I went there to make her happy.

The last thing I expected or wanted to see was her sitting there with tears in her eyes. And I certainly never expected her to react so … so violently when I tried to ask her what had happened to make her so upset.

I was angry when I tried to ask her. I can admit to that. If I frightened her then it will always be something I will always regret. Something I will gladly spend the rest of my life making up to her.

But when Jessica told me someone else had confessed to loving her, that was something else.

It wasn’t unreasonable in the least.

Jessica was perfect. She was all that was good in life. A goddess in a mortal coil.

Of course, other people would love her.

But I was the one she had chosen to take for herself. I was the only one who could love her in the way I was permitted to.
