Love is complicated. It’s something that takes time and patience to cultivate. Something that needs to be earned. To the young witch Jessica White, love is something that can and should be acquired using magic. Deeply infatuated with Robin heath, captain of her college football team and known playboy, Jessica sets out to turn him into her idealized boyfriend. With the help of her friend Felix, she devises a love spell that will turn Robin into everything she wants him to be. While everything seems to go fine at first, a problem quickly appears: the spell can spread to other people. Chapter 16: Distance

I figured I was going to see Jessica again at the coven meeting. I was hoping she would skip so she could spend the time with her boytoy instead. But when I got there, there she was.

And worst of all, she wanted to talk to me.

I managed to put it off until after the meeting itself finished, though I don’t really know what I thought I was going to accomplish doing that. The meeting lasted as long as they usually do, although this one seemed to go much quicker, and soon enough I found myself seated at the meeting place’s bar with Jessica.

“So, what did you want to talk to me about, Jessica?” I asked her as calmly as I could.

Jessica smiled at me. A small one, but a beautiful one. “Do I need a reason to talk to my best friend?” she asked back. “Plus, we haven’t really spoken all week, and I haven’t seen you since the dance.”
