Chapter 14: Home

Robin pulled up to the curb outside my apartment. I looked over to smile at him. “Thank you for the ride.”

Robin smiled back. It was a new kind of smile on him; it had his normal confidence, but also incorporated a new dreamy quality that I found utterly adorable on his handsome face. “Don’t worry about it, Jessica,” he assured me. “I’ll see you soon.”

I felt my smile grow. “Yes, you will,” I agreed.

I leaned over and gave Robin a quick kiss before getting out of his car. I watched him drive away and felt a sense of absolute victory settle over me.

I’d done it! I’d gone up to the man I couldn’t have, the man everyone wanted, and I made him mine!

Heart, mind, body, and soul!

Mine!

I felt like I was walking on clouds as I made my way into my building and up to my apartment. Forget cloud 9, forget cloud 10, let’s bump it up to cloud 19! No, wait! There’s no number for this! Cloud Infinity, baby!
