Chapter four

Seven years later*********************

I packed my hair into a pony tail checking my face one last time.

"What's taking you so damn long you'd better not be masturbating".Anne came to the doorway giving me a hard long stare.

'Could you be any less vulgur when talking'.I checked my hair clip touching it again before hurrying off and dragging anne along.

"Excuse me,miss goody two shoes".I rolled my eyes as she babbled on about how she can't wait to leave this foster care and explore the outside world and especially have lots of you know what.we made it to class in time.The teacher walked as graceful as ever looking round before speaking.

"Good morning,everyone please quiet down,roll call".

The teacher finished the roll call looking at the door he gestured someone to enter.A new student at this time of the year.He looked back at the class.

"Hello,everyone I would like to welcome a new student"he faced the guy,"your name,introduce yourself".

The guy looked to the earning him some whispers.he looked out age but older,his blonde hair brought memories of golden wheat,I giggled to myself, bright blue eyes he was gonna be a hot topic in the girls locker room I could already see some of them ogling at him.

"Hi,my name is Joshua please take care of me".I looked at my best friend anne to see her reaction knowing full well she would be fan girling him already but instead her face had darkened as she stared at Joshua her face pale like she had a ghost.I tapped her making her flinch.She watched the new guy make his way to his seat they locked eyes and I swear I saw a shiver run down her spine,she looked down at her table. I could see beads of sweat running down her temple.

Who is he and what is going on here?

The bell rang,as everyone stood up going to their next class. Anne stood up in a rush heading towards the bathroom.I followed closely behind her. As she entered the bathroom she collapsed on the floor shaking. I've never seen her like this she was the strong one between both of us,I could hear her mumbling under her breath as I sat in front of her hugging her till she calmed down.

After some minutes,

She had gotten her self. She stood up quietly going to wash her face,letting the water run as it drowned out the silence only to turn it off and leave. It was obvious she wasn't coming for the rest of the class that day.I left the bathroom heading toward my next class worried deep in thoughts.

It's been three days since Anne had skipped classes. She didn't come out for lunch or dinner. I managed to sneak her food for her but she still won't say a thing.I decided to talk to her since it was the only option available and she might get punished for missing classes and meals too,I walked into the room holding her dinner she flinched as she heard the door I got closer to her bed dropping it on her table,I tapped her on her back waiting for a response,but she ignored me.I made my way to beside her extremely close.

She scooted away backing me then I sat in front of her grabbing her face close to me.I mouthed 'talk to me' she tried turn her head away but I held it in place.I felt her body relax.yay I won.she let out an exhausted sigh,"you are one Stubborn person".huh is that all you got to say. I flicked my hair trying act high and mighty.she laughed. I was happy I Hadn't seen that smile in a while.we sat in the room enveloping in an awkward silence.She finally looked at me I signed asking

How do you feel

"I'm fine, sorry for making you worry"she said as she wiped her face.

'It's ok,take your time just know I'm here for you'

I stopped not knowing whether to ask but went ahead anyways

'Do you want to talk about it'

Floods of emotions ran across her face,already regretting why I asked but she took a deep breath sighing deeply before she began.

"I was once adopted before into a nice family the couple already had a son but couldn't give birth again,she really wanted a girl so she decided to adopt me since I was a close age with her son.everything was ok, I was happy, I got into a nice family but after a year of me staying with them, my foster mom started to fall ill frequently it got so bad that she was admitted into the hospital we were all worried and scared,she was later prescribed with chronic cancer of the lungs and she had months to live, everyone was devastated my foster dad tried to look for any ways possible to preserve her life but as the months passed with no hope of finding a cure we decided to spend her last days with her and make good memories until the last day…"anne broke down crying again I patted her back trying to soothe her as she sobbed uncontrollably,after a few minutes she slept and I also retired to mine.

The next day she came to class like normal. Maybe letting it out had made her feel better. She smiled as usual making me relieved,the new guy Joshua on the other hand was getting on just fine with everyone.but I felt that something wasn't right with the whole story she was still hiding something.The day came to an end this feeling like an unreachable itch on my back.

Few days had gone by and anne was back to normal to say the least.But she still got lost in a daze sometimes.I hugged reminding her I was here for her.But there was always this tension between her and the new guy.

'Let's head out today'

There are times they allow us to go out to the near by town.and today was that time.

'You need new clothes maybe some jewelry'.she looked at me considering it,then she smiled,"I'm thinking chocolate ice cream with lots of topping".A sucker for food but it worked.The ride was long but we got there in time.

First thing first,the ice cream stop. We made our to Marcelo's stand.He spotted us giving us a huge grin.

"How are my lovely,amors,haven't seen you in forever"he said with excitement,I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.

"Marcelo,it was only a month ago",anne chipped in.They chatted while I looked around making sure I could see some students especially the bus. We had lost track of time once having to ask Marcelo for money to enter a cab and let's not forget the scolding we got from Ms linda. I scrubbed window till I was traumatized.

"You know what,today's ice cream is on me".Anne did a happy jump,"Marcelo you know the way to my heart". She joked we all broke into laughters.we bought some other things also did a lot of window shopping and this time didn't forget the bus. Anne had slept off on my shoulder while I looked out the window watching the trees pass by in a haste.I felt someone staring looking in the direction. I made eye contact with Joshua, I had forgotten he was on this bus.He stared for long until he smirked and faced front. That was entirely weird and creepy.
