The Lone Book

We all believe in one thing or another, whether it’s A single god or multiple, even if we are in a program, or death is the end. We all have someplace we believe we go after death, but...what if this world, was slowly colliding within our own? This is what a Spectre will fight to stop, even if he can die again. Chapter 4

When Sarah woke up, she found herself in Kaiden's room with Darrel watching    "Where is everyone else?" Sarah asked but as if on cue Ryan and Kaiden entered the room.

"Yo, uh so I guess we can see him too,"

"Yes, but that's because the council gave you the sight, however I have to teach you all your respective art, I will also answer any questions you may have about the spirit world, the prophecy and your respective skills and abilities," Darrel states.

"So who's the warrior and the summoner between us?" Kaiden asked.

"Ryan, is the Warrior, who needs special training-"

"Hold up! I'm NO Warrior! Ask these two they'll tell you I'm walking bad luck, plus chicken!" Ryan cut him off unsure of his role in life.

"Ryan, every great male warrior in history has his fears, even the council's strongest has them, we all do," Darrel reasonably argued.

"I'm not training you either,"

"You're not?" Ryan says worried.

"So is there a basement, or an attic in this house?" Darrel asked examining the house carefully, as if attempting to find something.

"The basement is My room, and we can't open the attic, the door needs a key," Sarah told him.

Darrel looked at his hands...he was alive, flesh and blood.

"Your alive," Kaiden says amazed.

"Guess so," Darrel said as he began to see flashes, the room vividly transformed to a world only he could see.

"Darrel!" A woman's voice called.

He sees a young boy about 7 years old, who had and just finished painting a wooden sword and set it to dry, his painting set safely stored in a small desk with a shelf.

"Coming mom!" He said as he bolted down the stairs.

Absent minded to the group he began to walk down the stairs.

"You think he's ok?" Kaiden asked.

"I... I think I know but we'd have to follow him," Sarah said unsure.

Everyone quietly followed him.

A beautiful woman, her hair the colour of autumn leaves, with a sweet voice to soften even the hardest man. she wore wearing a pale pink dress, and held a small gift box.

"Happy birthday,"

The boy smiled.

Your father wants to go camping in the woods this weekend, and your brother Barry is coming,"

"REALLY?!" The boy says excited and runs to pack, but she stops him.

"Wait!," she says laughing.

He goes back to her and she presents him the box.

"I want you to have fun before we leave, I'll pack your things," she smiled.

He opens the box and finds some leather notebooks and a key with a triangle top.

"I want you to keep it safe," she says.

"I promise I will!" He says with a hand up in honour.

Darrel searches his pockets and finds the same key and follows the mother and son through the house.

She leads him to a staircase to a door upstairs.

"I think he's insane," Ryan whispers.

"Shut up!" Sarah whisper yells.

They reach the door and opened it.

Darrel does in sync.

The boy finds a large shelf filled with books, a small table covered in sheet music, small bins were stacked on the opposite of the shelf up to his elbows. Each was filled with plastic bricks, known as LEGO. A small pale yellow and white rug lay on the floor in the corner with a black violin. Finishing the room a desk sat next to the window, with a view of the forest in the distance.

"I LOVE IT" The boy exclaimed. His mother laughing.

In room presently had been untouched for years, cobwebs covering many things, dust covered the chest and books. The rug now a faded grey and orange.

The worst of it, the boy was alone on his knees. Unable to process anything.

Unfortunately he knew better than anyone,

You cannot run from who you were,

But you can change who you are over time,

You know who you are now,

And chose who you want to be tomorrow.
