Living Legend

In a palace in the middle of Venzerain, a girl walks a large hallway alongside two women.

I screw up... im well known everywhere in Venzerain now and has been only 2 days. The king called me for an audience with him, Elizabeth and Claire came too as they are witnesses of high trust.

We arrive at a door, a big double door painted in gold with the crest of Venfall engraved on it.

Some guards open the door while looking at me curiously.

Inside there is a big throne room, a large red carpet comes from the throne to the door. Two pillars on each side of the room carry Venfall flags high and a four-step staircase with a golden throne at the end of the hall.

We walk there calmly and a few meters away from the throne we knee in respect for the King. The idea of kneeling to someone I barely know is strange to me, Claire has been teaching me about the politeness to have an audience with the King and everything seems rather exaggerated. 

King Zebrief Venfall Fifth, from here seems quite old, well most family heads are already retiring in a few more days and he is from the same generation maybe older than them.

He has long gray hair stopping at his neck and wears a yellow robe made of a fabric that seems to reflect the light.

At his side on the throne there are two guards, Claire told me about them, they are the Royal Guardians, the strongest order of Venfall. They protect the royal family for generations.

The King then speaks.

"Raise your heads" He says, his voice is somewhat weak and old

We do as he says and he proceeds.

"Elizabeth Tarker, as the highest status I permit you to speak first, say what you saw that night" Says the King formally

Elizabeth takes a deep breath and starts.

"Your Majesty, I saw Nyxia Faeson single handly kill two dozen intruders wearing Empire crest, resulting in saving the lives of almost all heirs of the 13 families" Says Elizabeth formally

Impress me how Elizabeth speaks so well, she must put in a big effort.

The King seems thoughtful after hearing Elizabeth.

"Are you saying that a 15-year-old girl single-handedly massacred two dozen Imperial-trained soldiers in one night?" The King asks with disbelief

Obviously, it was not the bunch of cowards who ran away as soon as I started killing them.

"Yes Your Majesty, this is exactly what im saying" Elizabeth says bluntly

He then turns to Claire.

"Claire Faeson, do you share the same testimony?" He says formally

Claire agrees with Elizabeth. Claire is unusually serious and kind of freaks me out.

"Nyxia Faeson, you guaranteed a stable future for Venfall by saving the lives of almost every heir on that day, for this you have my gratitude" He says formally

"Im not worthy of such words Your Majesty, in my place, anyone would have done the same" I say formally

Yes im worthy and no most people wouldnt do the same, but Claire said I had to be all humble and respectful.

"Perhaps, but it was you, my wish is to give an appropriate reward as such I prepared a medal and I would like to give you military house status after you graduate from Uzelaice Academy" Says the King formally

Amazing, I dont need any of that.

Wait, perhaps with a military house I could easily infiltrate higher into Venfall, it will depend on my performance of course.

"Would be an honor, Your Majesty" I say

The King cleans his throat and one of his guards goes down the stairs with a badge in his hands.

I put my hand forward to take it and he goes back to the King's side.

The badge is somewhat cool, a golden badge with two swords crossed but to tell the truth, it would be rather embarrassing to use it normally.

"Now, as you might know, rumors about your doings are going across a lot of places here in the capital but I ask you to let it stay like this for the time being, rumors" Says the King formally

Claire told me that this might be the case, after all, a little girl just saved the future of the whole kingdom by saving a whole generation of leaders, if people knew that for sure the respect for the royal family as well as every other family would be severely hurt.

"I understand Your Majesty" I say formally

After this the three of us get out of the palace without anything happening, Claire and Elizabeth are awfully quiet and composed the whole way but when we enter the carriage.

I was worried about stopping myself in case I bumped into the first prince, but he was not there.

Claire and Elizabeth sigh in relief like they are holding their breaths the whole way, after that their expressions turn into shock with mouths open and wide eyes.

"What?" I ask puzzled by their expressions

"What? What? Do you understand what just happened? You are a literal living legend!" Says Elizabeth shocked

Huh?

I look at Claire with a puzzled expression.

"Venfall has existed for more than 200 years, do you know how many times a person with peasant roots gained military house status? Zero, by the way, do you know how many 15-year-old girls gained military house status? Zero. Oh and let's not forget a little girl gaining a hero badge one of the greatest accomplishments a soldier could ever get!" Claire says freaking out

A, come to think about I might really be a legend now.

It is understandable I guess, a military house is a family that is completely focused on military strength, peasants usually are weaker than nobles, and even if they had talent the nobles would exclude them for being peasants anyway so it would be impossible for one to acquire.

Claire comes and hugs me tightly.

"Baby... dont get me wrong, im happy for you but still sigh... next year you will be going to the academy and our alone time will decrease by a lot and when you graduate you will have another name, and will probably have to go to war too" Says Claire with a very sad tone

I pat her head while she hugs me.

Wait war?

"What do you mean war?" I say puzzled

Elizabeth slaps her own face in disappointment.

"After everything I saw you do, it's hard to recall that you are still a child, those guys in orange cloaks are theoretically soldiers from the Empire, a neighboring country, understand now?" Says Elizabeth casually

Ah... I really screwed up.

Arriving at Claire's room after seeing Elizabeth at her mansion. 

Me and Claire fall on the bed and she hugs me.

"Im sad... dont wanna stay away from you baby" Says Claire sadly with a low voice

Well, it is not like we will stop seeing each other even while im at the academy, but yes the time we have together will decrease drastically.

Im much more worried about going to war, seems like it will take some time to really become an all-out war though.

"There is still some time until next year Claire, but the King really set me up huh..." I say casually

If I refused he would probably see me as a threat, like im refusing to make part of his kingdom even though im strong and all.

Claire puts her hand on my cheeks slowly moving away my hair from my face.

"Say dear, I never mentioned it but I have an ambition, would you like to hear?" Claire says with a hint of worry

I agree, Claire seems thoughtful all day maybe she wanted to tell me this.

"Might sound a little silly, but I want to rule Venfall, be royalty. Im tired, tired of schemes and plots, tired of having to be polite to people I want to kill" Claire says in a low voice expressing a hint of sadness

So she wants to be a dictator? What a nice way of saying you want to be cruel and just kill everyone you doesnt like.

Claire proceeds.

"So thats what we are going to do, alone was impossible for me but with my lovely wife I could do everything" Says Claire with determination while kissing my cheek

Traduction, 'Various situations that are not in our control keep happening making us spend less time together, then let's take over the kingdom so everything will be in our control and we can fuck like rabbits day and night, be overly rich to do everything and kill anyone who slightly smells like plots without caring about consequences'.

Living with Claire made me understand more her language huh... Well, she is already courting me in any way, in any case, I would have to kill about everyone in the royal family. Obviously, they would not leave me alone after I killed all the nobles from the First Prince's faction and the First Prince as well.

"I will route my plans toward this objective from now on dear, but firstly, we still have a little rat running around our house" Says Claire mischievously while passing her hands seductively on my abdomen

I jump from building to building until I arrive right above an alley. In the alley, two cloaked figures are talking, after trading a few words they go on separate ways into the streets.

Continued to stalk around the same person I was aiming for from the beginning until the figure entered a store, it took out its cloak to reveal a woman with black bun hair and white skin.

She is buying random things at the store to make excuses, a little funny actually.

Sometime after leaving the store, she enters an alley.

Now is my chance.

I jump in front of her before she can scream I put my finger into my lips doing a silence sign.

She seems to have recognized me already so she does as I say.

"Lady Nyxia, do you need something with me?" She says with a fearful tone but trying her best to not show

This is Asmerite, a maid at Claire's mansion, usually, I always see her around Tersa Beian, Claire's mother.

I look at her right in her eyes for a few seconds without expression on my face.

Feeling the pressure she cant take anymore and starts to talk slowly and very scared.

"I- I just did it because Lady Tersa asked, p-lease spare my life" Asmerite says fearfully trembling while looking down

Tersa like any other noble sends her servants to buy things they need from time to time, but it seems like Tersa asks for more than that. After a hint from Elizabeth, Claire connected the pieces, and im now doing the dirty work.

I never found out on my own with Penance because I was too focused on Tersa to see the bigger picture, and Penance cant hear for me only see sigh...

"Details" I say coldly

Asmerite dont know much, Tersa offers her money and promises a better life for her shadowy services.

"Let's go then" I say apathetically after she finishes talking

Asmerite looks at me with fear and a hint of confusion.

"Wh- where?" She says

A grim smile slowly forms on my face while I look into her eyes.

"Have a nice talk, you, me, and Tersa shall we?"
