The Last Plague

Chapter 17

Anthony & Rose

Sunlight Town

2:15 PM

Location: Quake Town

June, 29th, 2025

Anthony and Rose walk around looking for some gas. With a gas tank in hand, "I wonder how long this is gonna take." Rose says. "I dunno." Anthony replies. Rose shrugs and walks forward, while Anthony follows. Anthony looks around rusted cars and closed stores around the city. Rose sets her shovel's edge on the ground, looking around, with one of her hands shielding her eyes. Anthony looks up near a food market and spots what they were looking for, but it was surrounded by at least 7 different zombie hordes. "I found a gas station! But you're not gonna like what's guarding it." Anthony says, grabbing Rose's shovel off the ground and handed it to her. "OH. MY. GOD." Rose says jaw slacked open. "Get ready for a fight," Anthony says, taking out his cheeto launcher. The zombies suddenly turn to Rose and Anthony, then snarling and running towards them. "Now!" Anthony yells, as he jumps up next to Rose's hands. Rose thrust her hands up, sending Anthony into the air, as Anthony aimed his cheeto launcher at the zombies and quickly fired a cheeto powder filled bullet at them. The bullet explodes in the zombies faces, damaging their eyes. Rose runs over to Anthony and whips her shovel out, starting to stab zombies around them. Anthony straps his cheeto launcher to his waist and pulls out his captain america shield, then starting to join the battle, slicing zombies in half and throwing his shield around. More and more of the zombies drop to the ground dead, as Anthony whacks his way through the horde. Anthony finally slices the last zombies head off, and pulls the gas tank out, heading over to the gas station. "Alright, Rose, lets get that oil." Anthony says. "Got it." Rose replies. Anthony goes to one of the tanks, and unscrews the nozzle of the mini gas tank he was holding. Anthony then pushes a button that only gives you a bit of oil. Anthony grabs the gasoline gun, and puts the nozzle inside the small oil tank. Oil pours inside the mini gas tank, 30 seconds later, the mini tank is filled up. Anthony then puts the nozzle back on the mini oil tank. And the oil gun is put back into its holster, "Okay, that's done. Rose, lets go look for some food or supplies inside the gas station-" Anthony falls to the ground, and looks back up, to see a man dressed as a plague doctor, standing up over Anthony with a small scythe. "What the- The plague doctor kicks Anthony in the face. "Shut up! Useless child!" The man says. "Hey! Get away from Anthony!" Rose says. "Why should I listen to a weak kid like you." The man says, then laughing. "You're gonna regret that!" Rose said, then charging at the man. "Your efforts are futile, useless!" The man said, then pushing away Rose's shovel. Rose swings her shovel at the direction of the man, the man then ducks and cuts Rose's leg, but she barely dodges it. "Ah!" Rose cried, then grabbing her by the collar. The man throws Rose onto the ground, as tears fall from her eyes. Anthony slowly opens his eyes to see Rose crying on the ground. "Rose.." He whispered.

The plague doctor turns to Anthony and scoffs. "So you're Anthony. The Awesome smart wannabe. You're nothing like I was told. You're weaker than I expected. You pathetic loser." Rain pours down from above, as grey clouds form above the city. "Remember that man that you killed. He said the ferals would come. And here we are" He says. "Shut up." Anthony says. "You think I'll listen to you? You make me laugh, you know. You think you're so tough, huh. For a fact, you should change the A in your name to F. From awesome to failure! Right, Failure-thony?" The man says. A tear falls from Anthony's eye. Anthony suddenly balls his hands into fists, and stands up, uppercutting the man so hard his knuckles were bruised. "I said, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!" He yells. The man falls to the ground, as water splashes around him. Anthony wipes the blood off of his knuckle and grabs the man by the shirt, pulling him up to Anthony's face. "You'll die for that." Anthony says. Anthony lifts the man up into the air, as Anthony swings his shield across the man's arm, cutting it clean off. The man yells and looks down at Anthony. "Bastard! How dare you take my arm from me! Just who the hell do you think you are , ANTHONY-" suddenly, the head of the plague doctor splats onto the ground, as his body falls next. Anthony stands in front of the body, holding his shield where the plague doctor's head had used to be. Anthony looks down to Rose. "Rose, are you okay?!" Anthony says, running over to Rose and dropping to his knees. Anthony lets a tear fall onto Rose. "ROSE! Can you hear me!!" He yells. Anthony sets his head on Rose. "No- Rose…" Anthony says. Rose suddenly wakes up. "An….Anthony?" Rose says, lifting her head up. Anthony lifts his eyes up to Rose. "Rose, you're okay!" Anthony cried, hugging Rose tight. "I guess I am." Rose says, then lifting her arms to hug Anthony. Anthony reaches into his pocket and covers Rose's wound with a white bandage. "How do you cry from a cut that isn't so deep on your leg but Trevor doesn't cry from his hand being cut off." Anthony says while applying pressure to Rose's wound. "I don't know? That kid is 13 and he's already battle hardened and tough enough to freaking not cry with his hand cut off." Anthony stands up and looks at Trevor. "Did you fix the leak?" Anthony asks. "Yeah, it's all patched up. Now lets head back to Sunlight town and return to our base." Trevor says. Anthony hands the oil to Trevor. "Sure thing" Anthony says. Rose stands up, and the trio walk back over to the jeep. "Let's hit the road." Rose says, climbing into the driver's seat. Rose steps on the gas pedal, and the jeep boosts forward.
