The Last Plague

Chapter 5

Anthony:

Sunlight Town

Location: New homebase

June, 26th 2025

7:32AM

I climbed up and shut our trapdoor and slid back down into the homebase. "Time to get some work put in on the radio scanner" I say. Rain poured down outside. "I hope Trevor is doing well." I grab my tool box that I had taken back at my house, and set it next to the little radio scanner. Then I get ready. I pull my pj's off, and slip a green shirt on, and some fingerless gloves. Then I grab an at least 2 year old science lab coat and put it on. I strap a vest on and load in with all kinds of geeky assets.

Then I open the tool box and begin to work. I take a tiny screwdriver and unscrew the front cover piece of the radio, and look around at the wires. Red wires, yellow wires, blue wires, and green wires were all inside of the radio. I look back to the tool box and grab a scissor out. "I know where all the wires are, but which one do I cut?" I say. I look carefully at each one. I look at the blue wires. "Welp, I guess I have no other choice." I close one eye and lift my tongue up, moving my scissors closer and closer to the wire, but as I'm about to cut it, the whiff and moans of zombies come from above. I drop my scissors and stare at the ceiling. I look at the little hatch, and reach for a weapon. "Oh crap oh crap, if I don't find a weapon then I'll die!" I say. I look to my side and find a stuffed teddy bear doll.

I grab the doll and open the hatch. I climb out of the hole with the radio scanner in my pocket. A horde of zombies walked past the comic book store. I reach in my bag and pull out my Survival guide and flip through the pages. "Page 59, use your instincts to protect yourself" I whisper. I slowly walk out from behind a counter, and hold my teddy bear doll firmly. I sprint out of the shop, and spin around, whacking zombies left and right. A zombie grabs onto my arm, and gets ready to chomp on it, but I rip the zombies arm off. And kick it away. "Take that walking dead knockoff!" I yell. I drop the zombie arm and grab a potion from my vest. I throw the potion at the other zombies, instantly turning them to ash. I looked around, waiting for more attacks, but none came. "Looks like that's it. Time to head back to the base." I started to walk back to the comic store, but the feel of pulling on my lab coat made me turn around. "What, another zombie?" I say. The zombie pulls me back by my lab coat, sending me smashing onto the ground. I try and pull out a potion, but the zombie grabs my vest and throws it away from us. "Uh? Trevor!" I say. No answer. He was probably still looking for the last radio scanner piece.

I grab the radio scanner and throw it at the zombie, not realizing the stupid thing I had just done. The radio scanner cracks, and breaks into pieces. "No! All of my hard work, wasted!" I yell. I trip the zombie, as it falls to the ground. Then I grab a potion from my vest and slam it onto the zombies face, disintegrating the zombie.
