New Gadget

The trip to the food capital of the galaxy where you can find all of the top foods and chefs from every different culture to combine their knowledge will be a long journey of sixteen days. It's worth it though as their food there is absolutely delicious and can't be beaten anywhere.

During the journey, I thought I could put in some work in my workshop to see if I have any new ideas. The workshop is where I create all of my gadgets and technology at, I haven't been in there for awhile as my ideas had stagnated. I guess this is what happens when your the last of your race and don't have anyone else to help mix ideas with. If I had some good inspiration or another intelligent inventor, I could probably come up with something new.

I sat in my workshop looking over a few blueprints and designs of something I had been working on for hundreds of years, but I just could not figure out how to get it to work. This particular device in the blueprints looked just like a hula-hoop. In the designs it shows that it expands to many sizes and is suppose to automatically size around a person.

"Zen, what are you working on?" Sarah all of a sudden walked into the workshop while curiously trying to look over my shoulder.

"Just a little project I've been working on for awhile now. I'm a little stuck on it, so I was hoping I could get some inspiration if I looked at it again, but I've got nothing." I sigh, thinking at how long till I can finish this one and move onto the next project.

"Oh so its a new technology, what's it suppose to do?" Sarah asked looking at the diagrams.

"It goes around someone and turns them Ethereal, where nothing can touch or interact with them physically. Of course this person also can't interact with the physical world. They can be seen but not interacted with, perfect escape device." I explain, wishing that I could figure out the last part of allowing the person to actually become Ethereal.

"By the way, I've noticed that you have a lot of technology but don't use most of it. Why?" Sarah asked while looking at me inquisitively.

"Hmm, well I guess there are a few reasons. One being, that it would make things to easy on my adventures if I used all the advanced technology and items I have. I have eternal life, but no goal or reason to continue on; so I try to keep myself as entertained as possible, even if that means taking risks or the hard-way." I reply calmly.

"What about the scars on your face and body, don't you have advanced healing technology? If you can heal it, you wouldn't need to hide your face anymore." Sarah try's to reason with me.

"I would if I could, but these scars weren't created by normal weapons. The Demon race tends to use Cursed/Demonic weapons, just like the Gods used Divine weapons. These cursed weapons have very powerful aura and can't be healed using technology or any normal means. Only way to heal me is to find a god that has an innate ability of healing that uses Divine energy which can cancel out the Cursed/Demonic energy that courses through these scars." I explain slowly, so that she can understand the situation.

"Then all you have to do is find such a God, right?" Sarah says quickly afterward.

"Easier said than done. Most Gods are dead, and the ones that are still alive, don't want to be found and are hiding. Even if I do find some alive Gods, the likely hood of one having a healing ability is near zero." I say as I shrug my shoulders helplessly.

"Then what about your two hand guns? They tend to run out of ammo, and I know you have better guns." Sarah poses another questions as if she is trying to find something wrong with all of my decisions.

"Again, even if the technology is of better grade; that doesn't make it better. Yes I have more powerful energy type weapons and guns that don't require reloading or running out of ammo. The reason I don't use them is because none of them are perfect, they all have some type of draw back. There is no perfect being, thing or existence in this Universe except the Universe itself. I can continue to seek improvements on my weapons and technology, but it will never reach perfection." I state the absolute truth my race arrived at when they tried to pursue perfection a very long time ago.

"Now, no more questions. I'm gonna spend a little more time perusing these schematics to see if I missed anything or if I can think up something to make this thing work." I declare, hoping she will go on to do her own things.

"What about just using another dying star's heart, like in the device you have that scans for living Demons and Gods?" She suddenly stops to ask, right before she walks out the door.

"Won't work, the energy in a stars heart/core is of different use or type that it can only be used as an extremely strong power source and not to change a physical entity. Plus those aren't easy to come by." I easily rebuke her.

"Wait, you were onto something though. Even though I can't use that, I can use heart of a Space Beast. These Beasts that were part of the original five ancient races tend to turn themselves or other objects into something else or bend reality in small ways. If I fine tune it enough, it is possible it would were work. Only problem is trying to catch one of these Beasts and extracting it's live heart." I started to mutter to myself after having an idea.

"Do you even plan to use this thing when you finish or is it just gonna be another one of those devices that make things to easy for your adventure?" Sarah says to me somewhat mockingly.

"Probably not, oh but if you want to use any of the items I'm not, you can go to the vault room and have a look. There are plenty of gadgets and devices that I've either created or collected that I just don't want to use or some of which I can't use because of certain qualifications needed." I state to her while not paying any attention, only waving her off as I continue writing and drawing on the schematics.

Sorry guys about no chapters last few days. Work has been busy.

Sarah has become the voice of the people as she askes the questions that needed to be answered.
