When I was alone I started to cry without an end. I didn't care about the cold air softly making my body colder, or how the tears I cried burned my skin.

When Sebastien found me he carried me inside and cleaned my face. He didn't say a word, he didn't look at me with pity.

"Tell me about him." Sebastien broke the silence while he ordered a servant to get some water.

"What should I tell?"

"Everything."

I exhaled and started.

"How did it end? Why did it end?" Sebastien asked.

I told him everything, and Jules didn't say anything while he listened. He waited for me to be done when he decided to finally speak.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Sebastien's voice was soft and he allowed me to drink some water before answering.

"I'm sure he was a good guy from what you told me, but you both need to heal. You're immortal Jade, I'm sure you'll find a way back to him if it's meant to be, and if not, there are plenty of fine men in this world. He simply treated you like men are supposed to treat women they love."

After I was calmed down Sebastien gave me some time to fix my make-up and we went back to the party. He led me to his friends and now a girl had joined the group. A girl with long, beautiful blonde curls and clear blue eyes.

"Jade, meet Valerie, she's Jules' sister."

The girl named Valerie smiled at me and immediately pulled me away babbling off about normal things as if we had known each other for years already. It was odd how comforting it was, but it did make me smile. We sat down and enjoyed a drink together.

"So, do you like anyone?" I asked Valerie after one of the times she looked at the boy with brown curly hair and green eyes. He was truly handsome, model material handsome, if I wasn't heartbroken right now, I just might develop a crush on him myself.

"Maybe I do, it's that obvious, isn't it?" She said while she got a sad look in her blue eyes.

I smiled as an answer, perhaps setting up Valerie might keep me busy enough to forget how much my heart was aching.

"I have liked him for years, he never even noticed me."

I grabbed her hand and walked his way, ignoring the curses Valerie said between her teeth.

"Hello ladies," Blaise said, surprised we walked his way.

"Hello, allow me to introduce myself, Jade Mercier, I'm Sebastien's sister and I recently moved here."

"How nice to meet you, I've heard so much about you, I'm honoured to meet the mysterious sister of Sebastien finally, how are you?"

"Thank you for asking, I'm good, and please allow me to introduce my best friend, Valerie, she has really made me feel at home here since I moved."

"Valerie, how nice to meet you, and even better to make feel Jade at home," Blaise said, looking at Valerie, enchanted by how she looked tonight while she blushed at his compliments.

I soon left the two of them alone and disappeared into the crowd before Valerie could protest.

"Here we meet again," Jules said when we reached for the same bottle of whiskey at the same time.

"Here we meet again, how are you tonight?"

"Glad to bump into you again Miss Mercier, how has your night been?"

"It's been well so far."

"You must miss back home, I couldn't imagine leaving my own home and friends overnight."

"I'll be fine," I answered with a smile I didn't feel and hoped was convincing enough.

Jules looked at me the way Jake used to, and before I could control myself I called his name.

"Jules, would you like to dance?" I asked before I could help myself. Maybe it was the colour of his eyes or the way those same eyes looked at me the way Jake's always used to, maybe it was the way his voice had this calming effect on me, for a reason I didn't know myself.

Or maybe after everything that had happened, I just wanted to not be alone, even if Jules wouldn't be my first choice despite his handsome face, and the way every word he spoke seemed to be a way to flirt with me.

After dancing with Jules we decided to go for a walk. Valerie was sitting down with Blaise and they were sipping some drinks while Jules led the way outside.

The air outside was ice cold, but I refused to show I felt this cold. The last thing I wanted was Jules acting the way Jake did, aside from him looking at me the way Jake did, while his eyes were the same colour as Jake's.

Being immortal sucks, knowing I would have all the time in the world to be heartbroken but not die of it. I was glad when Jules broke the silence between us.

"Although you're the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, I would like to propose an idea to make this less awkward."

"Please, tell me more."

"I've noticed the way you look at me, you look at me because I remind you of someone, and I wouldn't want to abuse those emotions to get a chance with you, but I also understand it must be lonely, to move to the other side of the world like this."

I swallowed, this human saw right through me.

"What do you want to get to?" I asked as if it didn't interest me in any way so far.

"I would like to ask you to not pretend with each other, full honesty and it all stays between us."

"Fine," I said while I was biting back to shiver because of how cold it was outside all this time, while I walked around in my black dress with nude shoulders.

"Starting with the fact you're cold, allow me," Jules laid his coat over my shoulders, as he was this close I could smell him, he smelled like vanilla, Ylang Ylang and something floral I couldn't Identify.

I wanted to object, but Jules grabbed me by the wrist and took me to a breathtaking spot. He knew his way around here better than I did. He took off his zipped hoodie too and laid it out so we could sit on it.

"Aren't you cold?"

"Jade, I'm not a human, I know your secret, most of the people invited tonight aren't human in case you didn't know. Sebastien had to play it safe to invite people over while you, you know, are still processing all of this."

"How old are you?"

"I'm sixteen, I knew because my parents have always been honest, it's the less traumatic way to find out," he added when he saw the expression in my eyes when he told me he always knew.

"But I'm not immortal for the same reason, my dad was Seraphim, the most powerful angel, well that's if you believe Christian beliefs about what angeels are."

"Let yourself go a little, everything here is pretty, people here have the money and don't like a tight schedule, and to not break too many hearts," he added with a grin.

"Let me guess, you ignored your advice on that last part," I said with a smirk myself.

"Perhaps I did, but my karma would be you appearing here with no space in your heart for me."

When I didn't reply, he grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes. Tell me about him, what about me reminds you of him?

"Your eyes, the way you look at me, it's one of those things that made me fall for Jake."

"Let me guess, he couldn't handle the entire immortal deal?"

"He didn't get to know."

"You'll get over him, it's not like you'll run out of time somehow."

I knew Jules was right, it wasn't like I'd run out of time, and maybe I should start accepting that.
