chapter 3.The thief

The king was inside his room when the eunuch came to inform him someone was looking for him.

"Tell the person to meet me in the court"

"Ok sire"

He dressed and got ready to leave for the court when he came by his wife's picture by the side of the room "I don't know why you left me leaving me all alone in this world"he sighed and left.

"Long live the your majesty"everyone echoed inside the courtroom

"You said you wanted to see me can I know what the matter is"

"Sire the rate of death is going high and the villagers are asking for your help what should we do about"

"What's the cause of the deaths"

"Sire the villagers are saying…."scared to say since it was since it was the same rumor they said about his wife.

"What? Speak"

"Umm sire they are saying it is a witch"

The king was devastated it was the same creatures that killed his wife "is there a way to annihilate them"

"Am not sure for that but I will ask"

"Ask and when you get any information do well to inform me first"

"Yes sire thank you for your time"

"You may leave"

Everyone left the courtroom leaving only the king "I couldn't get married again since you left me and now those creatures are still causing havoc I will make sure I kill all and take revenge for your death"

Princess Emily hasn't been herself after the coat incident that she couldn't eat again "I can't imagine that lowlife of a servant has the guts to wear the prince coat couldn't she just say no or she was okay instead of putting it on"

"Milady the king's brother is calling for you"

"tell him am on my way"

Bowing down "yes milady"

Inside the tea house

"What have you been doing"her father Anthony asked her

"Nothing as usual what do you expect me to do"

"We have to make sure you become the crown princess"

"Hm I know"

"Don't do anything that will delay my plans do you hear me"

"Yes dad am looking for my necklace"smirking

"What's with that face of yours don't go around causing trouble"

"No dad just my necklace that's all"

"Am leaving take care of your things very well"

Princess Emily went straight to her room shouting at all the maids "where are all of you come out you low lives"

"Milady"

"Milady"

"Shut up all of you follow me I am searching for my necklace has any of you seen it"

"No milady"

"None of you want to say the truth get ready to be punished or should I say beheaded"chuckling at how scared they were.

"No milady what about your personal maid the one that follows you everywhere" a maid said to her which made her turn

"Hmm what's her name it looks like I have forgotten"smiling

"Eleanor milady Eleanor"

"Yes go and bring her here"

"Yes milady"

Eleanor was inside the garden cutting the flowers when prince James came to meet her "seems you love the flowers"

"prince James what are you doing here you don't have to stress yourself in coming here you can just call for me"

"I wish to come see you by myself"

"See me?a lowly servant like me"

"Can I join you"

"No prince James you don't have to stress yourself"

While they were discussing on some irrelevant matters a maid came to inform them concerning "Eleanor's presence is needed prince James"

"We will see again"said the prince to Eleanor which she only smiled to since she didn't know what to say.

Inside princess Emily's room

"Ohhh you are here you thief"

"Milady what are you saying"

"Are you saying am lying now huh"

"Search her and if you don't find anything go to her bag in the servant's quarter"

"Yes milady"they all echoed

"Milady please listen to me I don't know what you are saying and I didn't steal anything from milady"

"Shut up else I might think you are defending yourself"

Eleanor was heartbroken she was been accused of stealing when she didn't even know what the princess was searching for.

The maids went to her bag in the servants quarters and brought the necklace to the princess's room.

"Milady we found it"

"Where did you find it"

"I found it inside her bag milady"

"Ok did you hear it you are a thief"

"No milady I swear I didn't steal it"

"Shut up you have to be punished severely for stealing from the soon to be crown princess of this kingdom"

"Please milady I am….."sobbing

They all went to the court since the princess wanted the king to hear out her complaint regarding her stolen necklace and give a verdict.

"Your majesty I would like to lay a complaint regarding the stolen necklace"

"Yes go on"

"This maid here,my personal maid to be precisely stole my necklace"

"How sure are you she stole the necklace"

"We found it inside her bag in the servants quarters"

"Who is the maid come forward let me see you"

Eleanor kept on crying due to the accusations that was being placed on her but she couldn't anything about it.

"Your majesty am the one"

"Raise your head let me see your face very well"

The king was shocked due to the resemblance of Eleanor and his late wife "who are you"

"Your majesty am just a lowly maid working in the palace to help my grandmother"

"Who is your grandmother"

"My…my….gran…smother she…."

"What about your parents"

"I don't know them but my grandmother told me they died when I was kid"

"Are you sure"

"Yes your majesty"

"Princess Emily are you sure she is the one who stole the necklace"

"Am sure your majesty"

"I swear your majesty I didn't steal anything necklace I was trimming the flowers in the garden"

"She is lying your majesty punish her to teach the other maids lesson not to steal from the royal palace"

"What kind of punishment do you want me to give her"

"She should be flogged a hundred strokes your majesty"

Eleanor sobbed loudly inside the court when the king looked at her he saw innocence in her eyes and knew the girl wasn't lying.

He also saw those same features his wife had that made people to tell him not to marry her saying she wasn't a human.
