Clashing Blades For the First Time

The sound of blades clashing and armor clanking is new to me. As if I went back to the dark ages from the looks of it. And yet it doesn't feel like it, it was different from the looks of it. I never knew I could kill beings.

"Lea! Help me over here!"

"Sure thing." Said Lea as she casted spells that helped me take down many skeleton knights as I was overwhelmed.

"Thanks for the help. Behind you!"

As I attack towards the hobgoblin behind her and took it down without a hitch. Lea's magic is very effective for the current situation. And damn we could do this all day.

"Seems like you caught up into fighting quicker than what I anticipated." Said Lea.

"I know I'm surprised myself that I could fight."

"You learn more things everyday I guess anyways behind you." Said Lea.

As we and a couple of guards who were tasked to fight the monsters fought along. Was surprised as well as I kept on my two feet fighting these monsters. I feel like I'm not human or something these moves I shouldn't be able to pull off.

And yet I seemingly able to knock and kill some of the bigger monsters than me. With no armor and just this sword that was gifted to me by that God. Maybe the sword is blessed and that it's helping me fight these monsters.

It's probably the sword helping me fight since I can't see myself be able to pull off these moves from out of nowhere. Plus slicing off metal shields is not normal for a sword to pull off. I shouldn't be able to slice off armor without even any delay or slow down on my end is seemingly weird.

"What the hell are you made out of Erik." Said Lea as she was surprised herself that I could do this.

"I don't really get it myself Lea but what I'm doing works so I'm keeping it that way."

"Just who is this newbie?" Said one of the soldiers.

"Well I just met him and he's pretty strong for a newbie." Said Lea.

"Hey guys I think they're retreating."

"Keep at it we're making them retreat let's charge then!" Said Lea.

Lea started chanting area magic on the retreating enemy lines and some of the slower monsters trying to escape gets killed off by me and the other soldiers. This is good news for us making them retreat into smaller numbers and killing off the slower and injured monsters is already making our odds better overall.

We could say this is a win for us. The monsters retreated almost 4 times smaller than what they came with.

"HUZZA!" Said the general of the soldiers.

"Yes, we've successfully pushed back those monsters into a forced retreat." Said Lea.

"I was surprised I managed to pressure them."

"Well you look bloodied all over Erik." Said Lea.

"Woah, I didn't realize that I may need a bath after this."

"Congratulations adventurer Erik. On the behalf of the kingdom your efforts is very much helpful on pushing back the monster camp." Said the general.

"No problem it's part of our job as travelers."

"Well said there for a newbie. Great job out there Erik." Said Lea.

"What can I say I guess. We did a pretty good job out there as partners."

"How about we form a party. I think we'll do more adventures from the looks of it since you've made me gain interest into forming a party because of your surprising performance out there made me rethink my occupation. Usually I just do simple tasks with adventurers and so forms our bond." Said Lea as she shake hands with me into joining my party.

I'd say she's the first full-time party member I'll be having.

"How about we celebrate there young adventurer? The King would be pleased to have you for this result of our battle." Said the general.

"I'm in if it's a celebration I'm okay with it."

"I'll come too!" Said Lea.

The next day we were invited by the King to a celebration because of the success on managing the entire monster camp near the kingdom that we destroyed over in one day.

"I congratulate you two lone adventurers for helping the kingdom from that monster raid. We celebrate the success of this mission I commissioned myself. For it was giving the entire kingdom anxiety because of the monster presence near the kingdom brought fear into the peace loving people of my domain.

For that we give big praises and rewards for the two brave adventurers who set foot forward into defending this kingdom with my men helping them along the way. Sir Erik and Lady Lea you have my regards on this kingdom and raise your adventurer ranking personally to tier 4 because of it as a gift, please enjoy yourselves and celebrate with us for this occasion." Said King Mythros.

"We humbly accept your gift and we'll celebrate with you for our spoils is well distributed to everyone in this kingdom."

Wow, I didn't expect meeting the king the next day I arrived here to be honest and it feels weird. Anyways from the looks of it I'm pretty much done in this world I may need to travel to another world by tomorrow.

I walked outside whilst drinking my cup of wine given to me. It's surprising how decent their wine tastes. Probably the difference on how refine their distillery they have here. Again I forgot that I used to be a bartender.

And now I saved this kingdom from their headache of a problem. Those monsters are scary on their own but I can't imagine how terrified the people are after seeing their raid. But after we've successfully taken out 80% of the monsters that tried to take over the kingdom they're probably in good spirits now after that.

"You look happy." Said Lea.

"Well, partner. I was just thinking things are quite happening so fast."

"Hate to break it to you things go by really quickly. So any plans for the next adventure?" Said Lea.

"Ever thought of world travel?"

"What do you mean by world travel?" Said Lea.

"Let's just say I'm tasked to saved multiple worlds. This is my first one and from the looks of it I succeeded into saving it so I'm moving onto a new world are you interested in coming with me?"

"So your saying dimension hopping?" Said Lea.

"Yep, oh don't worry I know how to make things interesting."

"Okay how so?" Said Lea.

"Since we're at the party let's show it to you then."

From my experience the alcohol they're serving is similar to gin. The taste alone has botanicals that is similar in gin making from my world. So with a bit of ingenuity and talent.

"Hey Lea can you compress air?"

"Well, yeah, I could do that." Said Lea.

"Can you put compressed air into this canister?"

"What are you making?" Said Lea.

"Just watch and see."

Everyone in the party seemed caught interest in what I'm making over at the alcohol table.

"Seems like I have a audience now. Okay, ladies and gents prepare to be amazed."

As I slice up some fruit that is similar to lemon I freshly squeezed some juice from it. I used my blade to cook up some simple syrup. And I managed to mix lemon juice, simple syrup, gin, and this magic version of a club soda.

"Here's my creation. A Tom Collins there's nothing like you've ever seen before. Here's one for you Lea."

Everyone managed to get a sip of it and everyone was surprised by my simple creation. Even the king himself.

"How did you come up with this young adventurer?" Said King Mythros.

"Well this came from my world and it's a favored drink by the people of my world. But it's hard to replicate it because of my current limited supply here."

"Well then you're not just a hero but a genius as well! But from the looks of it fate must come at an end from the looks of it you two are still adventurers in the end I understand that but if you ever come back again Sir Erik. I want you to serve us this Tom Collins of yours again." Said King Mythros.

"We'll see about that once I get time on my hands on making it again."

"Wow! Erik the sensation of drinking this is amazing!" Said Lea.

"You love it? I could make more to be honest but limited supplies would hinder me making more of it."

"Take me to your world! I want to drink more of this." Said Lea.

"That's the problem... I can't go home yet without finishing my mission."

"Mission?" Said Lea.

"I took a huge mission from a God you see and I have to save a lot of worlds for me to be able to return to my world because of it."

"I see then I'll join you in this quest then. In exchange you give me more of those drinks." Said Lea.

"It's better to have a travel buddy than nothing."

And this how the legend of the 'Phantom Cat' would set into stone.

Thanks for reading the newest chapter of my new book!
