Prologue : Beginning From The End

''When mortals die, their grievances or unwillingness are the last things that linger. Their souls will then go to the vast sky and become the stars that guide those they left behind through the darkness of the night." Said the woman to the child on her lap. She and the child were gazing at the endless night while the cold wind caressed their skin.

"But mother" the child looked at the woman embracing her "what about father's kind? Would they also be stars when they die? How about you?"

The woman smiled, gently tousling the girl's hair "You know xiao yue, not all existence are the same. There are certain kinds who don't belong here but somewhere else. But no matter where or what, always remember, I and your father will always be by your side."

the woman stared at the girl's eyes gently conveying her utmost love and tenderness, she lifted her finger and pointed towards the little girl's heart.

"We will always be right here. When the time comes, when I and your father are to leave this world, just look down in your heart and we will be there."

********************************************

A gasp was heard in a quiet and dark space. A young woman was aroused from her sleep and was gasping for air. She looked around her as if confirming if she was still inside her bedroom.

She grasped around her bed for a while and took a remote control from the side of the bed. She clicked a button then the entire room was illuminated.

A woman in her mid twenty's sat on a huge bed while touching her face, it was wet and she looked lost, she smiled despondently while muttering to herself "calm down calm down" like a life-saving mantra that can calm her taut nerves.

The young woman stood up and went to the bathroom to wash her face, before opening the door she glanced at the clock that indicated it was half-past 4. with a sigh, she went inside.

Staring at the reflection on the mirror, she lifted her index finger to trace the contours of her face, a white unblemished skin, straight nose, lips that are crimson red, rosy cheeks from the warm water she splashed earlier and long jet black hair. Yes, that face was no doubt ethereal but what was most eye-catching was her eyes that are golden with hints of red, that when you look closely, it gave an illusion that flames are dancing around the golden sun. Very magnificent.

Looking at her appearance, her mind drifted back to the woman in her dream or rather, from a long-buried memory. A memory that she shared and cherished; a memory of her family.

She was once like any normal human, she also had a mother, a father, and a home. She experienced that happiness and contentment that any human being did. She even remembers those nights being hugged by her mother and father. Or those days when nothing else mattered but their family of three. But as ironic as life always has been, it all became like a fragile glass, it shattered and it can no longer be fixed nor glued back together.

She and her family existed in the dark era. Her mother, Zhi Ruo was a goddess of nature and her father was the literal Son of the darkness, the vampire prince Ying Mo Chuo.

She remembers her mother always telling her how they met as a bedtime story. Zhi Ruo was a goddess formed by the essence of heaven and earth. She was the guardian of nature and she is like the brightest light for all those who have seen her. She was pursued by many and envied by all. Her name resounded all over the land.

Her father, Ying Mo Chuo, was an adventurer. The darkness was not able to confine him and was then able to explore and embark on his adventure.

One fateful day, her father was chasing his prey in the forest, it was a millythian beast that was said to be ferocious, but for Ying Mo Chuo, it was nothing more than a gourmet blood supply. He chased day and night with relish but what he didn't know was that the millythian beast was the pet of the renowned goddess.

Zhi Ruo was a goddess that was over-protective of her own and thus didn't hesitate to confront the vampire.

Mo Chuo was taken by surprise then took a look at this stupid person who decided to discard her life by fighting him. But then that one look was all it took for him to surrender his entire being and his lifetime to her. He was certainly and irrevocably captured.

After the long pursuit, Zhi Ruo caved in and fell in love. It was supposed to be a very beautiful love story but not. A goddess and a vampire together? There was no precedent and will never have one in the future. Both the heavenly realm and the dark realm were in turmoil and branded the relationship as a heretic.

They were forced left and right to separate but the love of the couple still prevailed. They decided to run and elope. A life with each other by their side was more than enough even though they had to spend that life hidden.

It took them a long time to hide their tracks and disappear. By the time that they did so, Zhi Ruo was already pregnant and was about to give birth. One night after they settled, the continent where they were was bathed with gloom. Lightning after lightning struck the land. In one hut in the middle of the forest, a scream was heard. It was intermittent and the scream got louder and longer each time. Then when the last scream was heard, it was followed by a cry, a cry of an infant.

That was when Ying Yue was born. It was like a perfect life full of harmony and happiness.

Unfortunately, It only lasted a decade.

The heavenly realm and the dark realm caught a lead and were able to piece the traces together and was able to find them. It was by then that everyone saw the heresy which was Ying Yue.

Being aware of what she was, she obediently listened to her parents' words for her to hide and stay put where they made an enchantment for her to be concealed.

After that fateful day, Ying Yue was no longer able to see her parents and henceforth lived in that world by herself at the tender age of 9.

As years passed, she grew bigger, taller, and more matured, her memories started to get hazy like something was covering her mind's eye every time she tried to think back.

All she could remember was she once had a family. Her mother's name was Zhi Ruo and she was a goddess and her father was the son of the darkness, the vampire prince Ying Mo Chuo. She was a half-blood and she needed to hide. But from whom and from where, she no longer remembered.

She drifted from century to century, from one continent to the next. An immortal living different kinds of identities every 100 years. She no longer counted how many thousands of years she lived. All she knew was, she needed to remember. Remember what she forgot as it would lead her to her happiness.

She searched and searched until she reached now. The 25th century where all living organisms mutated. Where the earth was no longer the only planet where humans live. Right at that point, she was able to see for herself those stars that her mother pointed out to her. But after looking for a long time she still ended up with nothing.

In front of the mirror, Ying Yue, lost herself in her memories until she felt a dull ache in her head. She glanced at her reflection one more time before leaving the bathroom to catch a very quick nap if she could.

Laying down on the bed she stared at the ceiling trying to calm her mind then closed her eyes slowly, entering deep slumber.
