The Heir To Magic

The Heir To Magic updates every Friday. Hope you enjoy the story. I don't own Harry Potter. All intellectual property and characters belong to JK Rowling. ~~~Synopsis~~~ A baby boy is born on the night of September 1st, 1979. A child of an ancient magical house, one that hid itself from the wizarding world. The family that started it all, the ones that laid the foundations of magic for all. The story of this child is one of great adventure and sad tragedy. He's the last of his Pureblood and magic-founding family. This is the story of Alexander Aevum, the very last of the Aevum family.

Looking into The Mirror Of Erised... From what I've seen watching Ron and Harry, it shows the person what they desire the most. The two friends are waiting for a response from me. I'm unconvinced that looking into it will produce anything good.

Such a magical artifact isn't something to be trifled and played with by a few first years. A breath enters my lungs, and I fold my arms. Entering deep thought.

What will I see?

My hearts desire... What is my heart's desire...

"Okay, move aside, and I'll give it a shot."

Since I don't know my heart's desire, maybe it'll be a good idea to see. Ron and Harry step aside, and I stand in front of the mirror. Looking into it. Waiting for something to happen. That's when something very strange happens.

A subtle shaking of the mirror's glass starts, and my image remains unchanged. Nothing has happened yet. The vibration of the reflective glass gets worse, and I take a step back. As I do, a very bad thing happens.

SCRAAAAATTTT!!!

The mirror shatters, and pieces fall on the ground. I'll be the first to say it. This is really confusing. I turn my attention to Ron and Harry, and they look at me with surprise, along with worry. They're afraid to get in trouble for breaking it.

"Don't worry. We have magic, remember?"

Easing their fears is what comes to me first, and the second is the process of pulling out my wand. Several spells exist to repair damaged things or undo changes that have occurred.

I've become familiar with one of those spells in my attempts to cover up the damage I've done to the restricted section.

"Repairo."

The wand's motion matches my verbal command, and the damage to the mirror is reversed. As the mirror is repaired, I step back and out of the reflection's sight. The last thing I want to do is break it again.

"You two are welcome to continue messing with this, but I'm heading back to the common room."

Ron and Harry will have an easier time returning since they have the cloak, but I've gotten pretty good at skulking around the castle at night. It doesn't take me long to return to the common room, and when I do. Neville is already up and opening his presents too.

Christmas is one of the holidays I actually enjoy. It was always a better time of year at the orphanage.

"He looked into the mirror, and it shattered. What does this mean, Albus? Are you sure there isn't something we should be concerned about with Alex?"

Minerva repeats the subject of our meeting. Severus is standing in the corner, remaining quiet as Minerva makes her argument. Personally, I don't know what it means. I've never heard of it happening before.

"I can only speculate, Minvera. Perhaps what desire lies in Alex's heart isn't comprehensible to the mirror. Another possibility is Alex has some enchantment or curse on him that I haven't seen. Strange things happen to him."

Those are my only guesses at the time. He was wise in repairing the damage done to the mirror. But Alex knows he'll be getting into some sort of trouble for this. He did that for Ron and Harry. Which tells me he's considering their situation and feelings.

Nothing malevolent can be drawn from anything that happened other than the breaking of the mirror. And that's not a guarantee. Again, there are several possibilities.

"I'll be speaking to Alex later today. In the meantime, you'll be finding a suitable punishment for Alex. He was roaming the castle during hours; he should've been in bed. Don't forget Harry and Ron."

My favoritism can only go so far. Minvera is satisfied with my solution to the problem, and she turns to leave.

Severus and I are all that remain in the room. He steps forward and stares at me.

"Something will be happening, and soon."

I agree.

"Keep an eye on Harry more than before. You don't need to watch over Alex now. Minerva has taken the responsibility of watching Alex for herself."

Tom is planning something. It involves the sorcerer's stone. The question is, how is Quirrell involved...
