The Abyss

Hidden deep within the mountains, There lies a bottomless abyss where the shadows rule over all in their domain. The only light that reached it was the crimson lava that seeped through it's many crevices, but now an unexpected appearance made it's way to the abyss.

A figure cloaked in shadow sat upon it's throne sensing his followers dying one by one and it's perpetrators slowly making it's way toward's him, with a snap of his fingers the shadows around materialized to a screen that showed those who dare trespass in his domain.

"Oh..." The figure's eye's widened ever so slightly before returning back to its cold and calm state, The figure chuckled "It would seem our friends up above no longer has the patience nor the time and has taken it upon themselves to summon those from other worlds to rid the so called "Tumor" that ravaged their lands... Typical"

The Figure stood from it's throne "Why don't we show these intruders a nice little welcoming gesture from our friendly friends from down under shall we?" Demonic roars and screeches started to fill the abyss as the ground rumbled, Beast of all kind of shapes and sizes charged past him each one bearing the mark of the abyss.

"Lets show them the true terror of the abyss" The figure showed a fanged smile as he was enveloped by the darkness and invisible by the common eye.

P.O.V change

'This journey was supposed to be easy, summoned to this world and blessed with the favor of the deities, trained top to bottom from the best warriors from each nation what.. what went wrong!!?' The man entire body was covered with blood, his which were once filled determination was replaced by fear as he looked up at the shadowy figure using its natural affinity of the abyss to manipulate the surroundings which each passing second his companions sustain injury after injury and with his battered and wounded state he could only look on and prey to the deities for their victory.

"Is that all you amount too" his eye's widened as heard the very same voice that summoned him to this world 'Goddess..kyinareth?' hope rekindled within his eye's but spoke in his mind with hesitation wishing this voice isn't a figment of his imagination.

"of course it is but never mind that we don't have enough time remember the the crystal i have bestowed you" he nodded "grab it pour every single ounce of power you have left inside it" he quickly grabbing the crystal he gripped it tightly in his hands as he directed the energy within him towards the crystal he quickly felt the drain in his reserves as it was completely emptied he felt pain within him, The crystal did not stop and like a vacuum it sucked the life out of him 'Goddess Whats happening!!!??' only to met with silence he tried to desperately separate his hand from the crystal but his attempts were lacking any iota of success.

The mans desperate actions were felt as the shadowy figure turned as his beast ate the rest of the mans companions "hmmm? what do you have in your hands?" his hand made a grasping motion as shadows converged and grabbed the man writhing body in pain looking closely at the object his eyes widened with a wave of his hands the shadows made a natural shield around him.

"BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM" A large explosion of holy light injuring the figure but that was not the end like a chain reaction the beast who ate the mans companions similarly exploded leaving no remains to the figure or its beast.

Unbeknownst to the mortals above their Deities just released hell upon the world as the abyss is basically a machine that spews out beast with no regard for time or resources and without the shadowy figure to leash its beast they are now free to leave their home and ravage the land.

'Is this what death feels like?' a soul looked around only to be welcomed by the darkness that stuck close to him all this years but this time there was a change he felt himself warm and floating in some kind of liquid.

Any kind of question that his mind stumbled upon quickly dissipated as he felt there would be no point to it so he waited and waited until he felt a force push him forward to a narrow light.

Bright light hit my eye's while the cold wind made me shiver to my bones, a sour feeling soon hit me as my eyes teared up as if instinctively i cried..... i flailed my hands in panic trying get the shadows to once again cover me but no hint of success i slowly calmed myself down as eyes turned heavy making me drift to a peaceful sleep.

Years passed

"Wen'er dinner's ready"

A calm face youth nodded his head as he joined his mother as they ate she kept looking at her son sighing as she thought 'My little Wen'er from young showing sign of a genius from learning to crawl and walk early and even to speak way earlier than the rest of the children in the village showing maturity way above his peers' she can only sigh once again as she should be happy that her child is a genius but while the heavens gave her son the intelligence of genius they seem to have also decided to take away his emotions as a fair trade, she can only count by hand the times that her son even smiled at her only becoming more distant as he grew older.

"Mom what's wrong?" he asked in a worried tone.

"No-nothing" She shook her head but quickly look into her son's eyes and asked "Wen'er will you be joining the Xu Clan's awakening ceremony" Seeing her son nod put her in a visibly gloomy mood "Can't you stay here instead".

"Mother everything will be fine" Xu Wen stood up from his chair as he hugged his mother "i'll make sure to write to you often and if i don't have the aptitude ill join the rest of our neighbors once again in their many hunts and make a living that way" he tried to comfort her while showing a smile on his face.

'what i worry is when you do enter the clan without a strong backing to protect you i only fear what kind of schemes that might happen within the clan bringing you along with it' She thought as she knew as soon as he showed signs of his genius he would have a high aptitude for cultivation but she can only blame herself that she did not have the power to protect her little Wen'er.

She can only nod as the dinner took on a somber mood as they finished they headed for a quiet nights rest while their thoughts floated about their future.

North of a village was a youth he had a calm gaze as he silently followed tracks of a boar hidden behind a tree he looked past the clearing to see two wild boars drinking from the lake his in minutes decided on a plan to separate the two boars.

He gathered stones from the vicinity hiding in the farthest bush he threw a rock at one of the boars successfully grabbing its attention and throwing another one enraging it at the process, Xu Wen the proceeded to move positions climbing a tree in the process as the boar charged at the bush he left while the other boar kept drinking.

unsheathing his dagger he kept dropping stones closer to his position and once the boar arrive he jumped on its back using the momentum of the fall to pierce the head of the boar 'Not enough' he thought while the dagger did pierce but not deeply, The boar flayed wildly in an attempt to fling the human off its back unfortunately for it Xu wen quickly removed the dagger from its head and plunged it straight to its eye and with a twist of the blade the boar fell without wasted movements he quickly dashed to the bushes while the other boar was charging close behind, swerving tree from tree the boar was not able to stop its momentum completely it's tusk dug deep into one of the many trees.

Xu Wen seeing his plan work came back and made quick work of the now stuck boar dragging his hunt to a makeshift sled as he walked back to his village he thought about his current 'situation The king of the abyss devolved to a regular human oh how cruel fate is.' but as he thought of his mother and how she showed him genuine love and care 'Maybe it's not that bad' While he did miss his powers from his past life the experiences he had in this new life made it all worth and with the awakening ceremony coming up he can slowly get back the power he once had while different in form but power all the same.
