Chapter 13

When we walked out of the hospital, there were protesters crowding the streets, as people were holding up signs that read, We need better police training.

"I thought Serena promised us to invest money on better police training like months ago?" Phoebe wondered, "I heard that in that announcement."

"Probably the police leader stole all of Serena's money for himself," I informed.

"That scummy old hag," Phoebe muttered under her breath, "Serena probably pretended to care for better police training."

"We should probably go home before the streets overfill, and Serena would be worried," I suggested.

"Yeah, Serena is going to be worried because we're trying to fix the otherwise lazy police system," Phoebe snapped.

Phoebe has been a lot more aggressive ever since the incident in the basement. I wonder what's gotten into her?

When we got home, Phoebe stormed straight to Serena's room, and I followed her to see what's going to happen.

"You liar!" Phoebe fumed, "You had a secret affair with the leader of the police department."

"What, no, that's not true," Serena denied.

"Then why did people protest about better police training?" Phoebe asked furiously.

"I, um, I don't know.." Serena stumbled.

"Or are you just lazy, cause that's what you are!" Phoebe growled.

I heard Sam enter the room, as he looked shocked.

"Ok, that's enough," Sam tried to cut the fight.

Phoebe stormed out of Serena's room, as Serena was breathing hard.

"This bitch was harassing me," Serena lied, pretending to cry.

"That's because she had a good reason to," I blurted out.

Sam looked at me and asked, "What happened between Phoebe and Serena?"

"Phoebe was mad at Serena because she wasn't doing anything to help the police system, and then Phoebe was accusing Serena of having an affair with the leader of the police department, since she only gave the money to him," I explained.

"Serena, is this true?" Sam accused.

"Also, the leader of the police department has recently bought a lamborghini and a mansion with the money," I added.

"Serena, first you neglect the police system, and now you're cheating on me with Emelia's husband," Sam reprimanded, "What the heck is wrong with you."

"One, I never did anything more than give him money, and two, you don't even have proof that I have affairs with him," Serena argued back.

I left the room to let them deal with their own problems, and while I was on my way to my room, I checked the news site, and oh.my.god, there were loads of pages about the incident at my basement, along with the big protest at Main Street earlier this afternoon. Sheesh, Mokland went from the perfect town to violence and protesting among the streets, with reports of crimes everywhere. And I thought Serena was going to be better than Queen Mendoza, but after today, she proved to me that she was just as bad as Queen Mendoza. This is not how I envisioned the New Mokland.

Suddenly, I got a text from Murphy demanding that I come to the police station for an interview.

"Oh no, not again," I complained, "I thought we were done with this."

I rushed downstairs, and dashed out of the door.

20 minutes later, I arrived at Murphy's office, as I saw police cars lined up against the street. I felt a rush of nervousness as I opened the door to Murphy's office.

I saw the receptionist typing, as police and detectives stood there, along with Murphy and James.

"Hey Penelope," James waved.

"Oh hello," I smiled, trying to hide the fear inside me.

"Come this way," Murphy walked to one of the offices, as me and James followed her. The police and detectives were in the distance, talking and chatting.

When I entered the room, there was a detective waiting for us.
