Planning Out The Farm (Part 1):

Genesis March 17th, 0001:

A lot of things happened in the past seven days, mainly relating to the speech capabilities of everyone in the settlement, as they had started to associate the names of food with the correct object which although not impressive at all when compared to the people of my time, was still incredibly impressive for nomads.

They had even started asking for what they wanted to eat on their own by saying the name of what they wanted and then making an eating gesture. And although I was really proud of them I was also incredibly weirded out by what was happening, because although they were not physically the typical humans I was used to they were similar enough for there to not be too much difference.

It felt like they were in an almost paper-thin line between being treated as pets and as humans which although sounded terrible when said out loud was still true. I didn't want any harm to come to them and wanted them to live the best lives they could, but I could not see them as equals mainly because I still subconsciously thought of us as if we were of different species despite the fact that we were not.

I could only hope that things would get better once the next generation grew up as they would be raised by the 'normal' standards of my time, at least when it came to the most basic of education. Regardless, progress was progress and the more advanced they became the better it would be for the generation that would come after them.

As for the farm it had taken us seven days to clear out all of the tree trunks from the ground and fill up the holes that they left behind. On the bright side, we were able to use the wood to fuel our fires and even caused us to make an area where to put all of the wood we still had ready to burn.

From the knowledge I had gained when it came to nutrition, I knew that humans needed Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, E, K, plus Folate in order to live a healthy life. (It didn't really give me any more knowledge than the human requirement for both the human diet and vitamins plus how they could be used to help improve diet which probably explained why it was so cheap).

Regardless, after some rather expensive answers from the system, I was able to find out that from the fruits I could get my hands on I would be able to meet all of the requirements as long as I had a steady supply of oranges, coconuts, and avocados to feed everyone. I also decided to plant potatoes mainly as a replacement for wheat when it came to producing rice as wheat was not available to me, at least not right now.

All in all, even though it was not easy to find the fruits I needed it wasn't too hard either as they could be found normally in the jungle. At first when everyone saw all of the fruits I had put together they assumed that I was going to do another strange thing with them and create something they had never seen before as was usual to them by this point.

This made it even more confusing to them when I just ate the fruit excluding the coconuts while offering it to them, it seemed that they had almost forgotten that I was capable of doing normal things. One thing they did find odd though was that instead of spitting out the seeds into the ground as they did I actually set them to the side and put them in a pile.

I had already gotten way more than I really needed so I ran no risk of running out of seeds to use, except for the coconuts of course as I had to get just enough due to how rare it was to find them compared to the rest. Not that the nomads would eat them anyway as they had already gotten used to eating cooked Suri bugs and normal fruit nearby.

In just a matter of minutes, we had gotten through everything and I was only left with the coconuts and the seeds of both oranges and avocados. I was actually really excited for this as it would basically officially transition all those living in the settlement from nomads to sedentary humans and usher a new era to their descendants.

Before I planted anything though, I realized that I had no idea how much space I should put between each seed since I had no idea how much space each tree would take, and since these were not genetically modified as they were in my time it was probably best to not put them too close together.

Sadly, although the basic farming knowledge had given me knowledge on how to make sure the plant did not die and what kind of soil was best, weather problems I might encounter, and how much water I should give each plant, it still did not give me any of that info causing for me to have to spend more RP asking the system.

I was both really thankful for the system answering questions for small amounts of RP, still, it was certainly not that cheap as I had already spent 12 RP leaving me with just 95 RP. I had noticed that it seemed more annoyed than usual when I talked to it, I assumed that it was simply something relating to whatever it did when I wasn't around though, as I hadn't done any harm to it.

At the very least now that I had that info, I could finally figure out how I should lay the farm with the space I had and how much more had to be cut down to have enough to supply fruit and vegetables for future generations. Before I could get to that though I had to join everyone for lunch as time had passed without my knowledge.
