A master is a master because... well... they're a master

Maybe because he timed it from the time the coin falls, he was already prepared by the time the coin was about to land.

Not bad… this kid got some foundations. I mean, he got the commonest of the common senses there is. If this kid joined the military, he'll be a good foot soldier, or any soldier in general.

Not necessarily that one, but someone that is more aligned to order, regardless of uh... what do you call it? Upbringing? Habits? Whatever... the point is this kid is subconsciously thinking of abiding the rules, whether implicitly or explicitly. As contrary to his rebellious behavior earlier, he is needlessly polite...? nah. What I am trying to say is, this kid passed the morality test. Of course I'll still accept it even if he attacked me even before the coin, but... the direction of my teaching will be different if that was the case.

As the coin was about to land I heard him murmuring as if in a trance,

"Thunder breathing first form: Thunderclap and flash...!"

I moved diagonally to the right after the coin hits the ground, with my left hand already in motion.

The force within the lunged must have been beyond what the ground can support as it was gouged considerably, leaving a visible dent on the even surface.

He is fast. However, I can still follow his movement, as he charged towards me with vigor and confidence of his victory.

But unfortunately, he is looking at my face, maybe to check of my intentions.

When he is now in front of me, I can now detect excitement.

But before he can move his arm to perform the draw movement.

My prepared hand moved outside his vision...

Right into the kid's sword handle, preventing him from swinging out his sword.

As I took a look at the kid's face, I saw confusion and shock.

As if he was expecting that I was going to dodge or use my sword.

Which if I did, I would lose the initiate. He is fast after all, gliding as if the ground was frozen ice.

But not fast enough to take me off guard. The initial acceleration was enough for me to know what to anticipate. What do I say... a beautiful mix of logic and instinct? Fortunately, I may not be the best in demon hunting since they come in all shapes and sizes, I am still proficient with humanoid enemies.

After his confusion left his face, enlightenment, understanding and awe came next, the he was now nodding as if that was to be expected. He was thinking that it is just "natural" for his teacher-to-be or recommended teacher for him to be stronger. That was the case because "he" was the student.

"I know from the look of your face that you now accept me as you master, and I accept you as my student. But I won't ask and even remember your name for now."

He was elated at first, but confusion once again returned. But as if coming to the exact answer, he then nods to himself as if he was going to tell his name any time soon.

Well, I'll be fixing that first.

So I beckoned him once again to follow me, but this time, going towards the forest nearest to the town. This will really take a while. But the guy is sure to have his "acclimation" to the current environment. The anime didn't really tend what it was usually without the demons after all.

So I as I walk within the streets, the guy was is very excited as he gawk around and absorb the theme of the era.

I got some snacks from the stall owners we passed by, then I showed what I am currently eating to the others as I cannot handle more objects in my hand anymore.

Since nothing really happened afterwards except that the guy's excitement died down, I ask my friend once again to cut the unnecessary parts. What, do I include walk, walk, walk?

Its not important, I don't need to say it thrice.

No matter, compared to the bustling activity in the town(not comparing to the modern time), the environment outside the city has less noise and crowd density. Maybe because the sun was already setting?

You know? Demons.

Ordinary citizens can't even handle bandits, which is just ordinary people with better(?) equipment and worse morals. Imagine beings with extraordinary strength, immortal-like regeneration, and bloodthirsty manner that causes no hesitations. Even bandits needs experience for them to kill without second thoughts.

So there is no surprise that one cannot find much humans outside any settlement.

Oh, the demon slayer corps or whatever is hiding the information about the demons?

When there are demon victims everywhere, and you can stumble upon one and miraculously live, rumors and information about demons would be common. Except to areas with almost zero demon activity.

But here? Everybody knows the existence of demons, 'cause every time someone goes out in the night and not return, people would eventually discover their existence one way or another.

Fortunately, through dead body of demons before being turned to ashes.

Unfortunately, dead bodies of humans with wounds not possible for humans or animals alike.
