It's been two days now and Mrs Beazell had not yet received any news from Spider. She was doubtless anxious and couldn't concentrate on anything.

"Two days have already passed without any information from him or about him. I knew that fool was up to no good. Why hasn't he contacted me yet?" she asked no one in particular.

She had a strong hunch that he did not succeed. She stood up from her bed and began pacing her bedroom.

'Could he have been caught? No, Spider cannot be caught. He's one of the slyest creatures I've ever known. The worst that can happen is that the operation failed, but to be caught? No!'

After sometime, she tried yet again to contact him through his contact but the same automated voice from the phone responded to her. "Even his number isn't going." This was enough to keep her on tenterhooks.

There was a knock on the door and before she could ask the person to come in, Linda entered unannounced.
