A duel between light and darkness

The incessant sound of the alarm reverberated in Reo's ears. He descended the ladder and found Michael stirred awake by the alarm. Michael greeted Reo with a sluggish "good morning" as he initiated his everyday routine.

Soon they both were ready in their school uniforms. As they traversed through the hallway, Reo acknowledged the receptionist, Charlotte. Complimenting her stunning appearance in a black gown paired with matching stilettos, he said, "Good morning, Charlotte. You look absolutely ravishing today."

Charlotte responded graciously to his greeting and the flattery, expressing her fondness for the dress. Her attention shifted to Michael, visibly identifying him as the notorious student council member. She shared her observation with Reo as Michael courteously waved back, signaling a good morning.

"I fail to comprehend how girls manage to maintain their balance in high heels," Reo said cordially, gesturing to her stilettos while leaving the building with Micheal. "Ah, the undeniable beauty of the clear sky," Micheal expressed appreciatively. Reo, on the other hand, silently wished to relish the same pleasure without his so-called curse restricting him. Despite his transient ability to witness the world during daylight after meditation for too long , his time being able to see the sunlight was limited.

Upon traversing the streets, Reo, accompanied by Micheal, veered left prior to reaching the school; the entrance gates were wide open. "The convenience of an alarm clock is simply unmatched," Micheal declared cheerfully, eradicating their concerns of tardiness. Both Reo and Micheal made their way into the premises, reaching their classroom after a short stroll down the corridor.

"Good morning," Reo greeted, waving at the student-filled class as he proceeded to his seat. A girl with black hair and brown eyes asked, "Are you free this weekend?" before Amelia interrupted. "I don't believe Reo will have any free time this weekend," she interjected. Acknowledging Amelia's greeting, Reo noticed her discontent expression. "Good morning, Amelia," he responded.

"Good morning," Ms. Olivia greeted her class cheerfully as she walked into the room to start the history lesson. After an exhausting day, the class ended and two girls approached Liam with surprising news. "You absolutely won't believe this, Liam," they announced.

Liam looked at them curiously, "What is it?"

One of them explained nervously, "I saw Reo leaving your sister Alice's dorm room on Sunday."

"That's absurd!" Liam retorted in disbelief before instructing, "Ms. Charlotte, ensure that no boys are permitted to enter the girls' dorm."

The two girls nodded before murmuring regretfully, "We wish it were not true, but we saw it happen and we can't shake the feeling that something is going on between Reo and Alice."

"Alright, enough. I understood. You can leave," Liam dismissed them, then made his way through a throng of students, bombarding Reo with questions.

"Hey, Reo, let's face each other in a duel," said Liam to Reo, who glanced back at him before responding with a grin. "I apologize, but I'll have to refuse." Liam approached closer to Reo before confronting him. "I'm aware that you visited my sister on Sunday, how could you just stroll into the chamber of a princess?"

"She invited me," Reo defended himself, which made Liam retort, "So you did manage to break into the girls' dorm and met my sister. Now, you'll have to face me in a duel. Let's set the terms: If you lose, you'll never speak to my sister, Alice, again. If I lose, you're free to interact with Alice however you wish, provided she does not object to it."

"I believe this is a misunderstanding," Reo articulated, calmly beginning to distance himself, a smile playing on his lips as if preparing to flee. Suddenly, he recalled a distinct new skill he had acquired but hadn't had the opportunity to test. This thought prompted him to approach Liam and declare, "I accept your challenge for a duel."

"That's splendid," came the reply, "Let's move to the council room to collect the necessary gear." Reo, upon reaching the council room, inquired curiously, "Which gear are you referring to exactly?"

"We have protective suits designed for student duels to prevent any injuries," Liam explained. As they stepped inside the council room they spotted Alice, comfortably positioned in her customary seat.

"May I have two suits for a duel in the colosseum?" asked Liam. This lead him to being questioned by Alice, "why do you need two suits for a duel?"

"We're simply participating in a competition," Liam explained. Alice subsequently reached under her desk and brought out two protective suits. "Would these fit?" she asked, as they both began to put on the suits without changing their clothes.

The protective suits were comprehensive body covering outfits with a central zipper. The suit, now dressing Reo, fully encased him and became invisible, allowing him to see through it.

Amazed, Reo pondered, before questioning its origin. Alice disclosed, "It was created by the second world and delivered here. This proves advantageous in preventing students from inflicting fatal injuries on each other."

"Ah, I am quite curious about the nature of the second world." Expressed Reo, to which Alice responded, "It is indeed an unusual place. They have a form of transportation termed 'cars', similar to carts, but the distinction is that these are not hauled by horses but rather operated by an individual".

"Truly intriguing", Reo commented, shortly before being cut short by Liam, "Alright, it is time we headed to the colosseum".

While contemplating their safety, despite the worn protective suits, Alice also chose to accompany them to observe the upcoming battle.

We had arrived where a large group of students have congregated with anticipation. Their interest lies in the upcoming combat between Reo and Liam. However, a portion of the students is also preparing to engage in personal duels. A chorale of voices echo around the gathering, some chanting 'Reo', whilst others respond with calls of 'Liam'.

Our combatants then take their positions in the heart of the coliseum, ready for the impending fight. Reo summons his spear, whereas Liam presents a sword that he has manifested. The atmosphere is electric, only enhancing the sense of expectation for the imminent contest.

Aurora expresses excitement at the forthcoming duel, seated beside Michael. His broad grin spells out the same sentiment. The interest in this duel is heightened as it is a clash between opposites, darkness against light. It is fascinating to wonder which will prove to be the downfall of the other.
