Chapter 46

Our front doorbell rang. I walked up to the door after dropping my coffee on it. I yanked on the handle and pushed open the door. "Hey," Ellie said, "come on." I welcomed her into the house and shut the door behind her.

"Would you like to join me in the kitchen?" I asked, as I was busy in the kitchen. "I'd love to join you," she said. I went into the kitchen to finish what I was doing, while she sat in the high kitchen chair, her hands on the cutting platform.

I poured her coffee into a glass cup and walked over to her to place it within her reach. I sat down next to her on the other high kitchen chair, where I had dropped my coffee. "How did things go with Richard?" she inquired.

"Did you ask Edward for assistance?" I asked. I then added, "I did, indeed. You'd been cooped up for far too long. I didn't know if you were safe, and I couldn't go in there by myself." She responded, and I smiled slightly as she said it.

"Thank you for being concerned about me," I said softly. "You're welcome," she said. I was staring at her, wondering how she had survived all these years without her parents realizing they had abandoned her. She must be very strong to bear that pain.

She tossed the glass of coffee onto the cutting platform after taking a sip. She must have realized I was staring at her. "Why are you looking at me?" she asked, slowly turning her face. She inquired.

I had my gaze fixed on her the entire time. "Just look at how lovely you are," I said softly. She had a bright smile on her face. The doorbell went off. Lucky me, I was about to stand up. Lydia entered the room, heading for the kitchen.

"Please open the door," I pleaded. "I'm only here to help you because you brought me home," she explained as she pushed open the door. "Are you trying to tell me I'm not worth it?" I wondered. "Yeah, you're not worth it," she said. Lora was standing at the door. She entered and shut the door. They were all there to ruin my moment.

The sun sets, and twilight approaches. A bright moon rises, bringing with it a starry night sky. A swarm of stars with sleepy eyes strewn about the moon. The gauze-like clouds float in the sky, seemingly concealing the ethereal fairyland of the house roof. The distant sky is linked to the earth, creating a lovely scene of heaven and earth. In the evening, I gazed up at the starry sky. Oh, it's so lovely! The night sky, the bright moon, and a glimpse of the stars sparked my childlike imagination. The black, blue, and black and blue sky is like paper, and the stars are like beautiful flowers, like a sparkling lamp, lying quietly in this black and blue sky. On black and blue paper,
