A New Companion

Hours after the battle with the witch, the girl who saved me, who I found out was named Alice led us to a nearby town.

"Hey Alice, how long until we reach the town you've told us about? I don't know when it'll become nightfall and I don't feel like staying out here in the open when it happens." I said, crossing my arms.

"It won't take long, you'll eventually see some smoke in the distance signaling that we're almost there." Replied Alice.

I let out a long sigh and kept walking alongside everyone else. I began to close my eyes until I heard a faint growl, causing me to stop moving and look around. I removed my sword from my sheath and readied it.

"Guys stop moving, something's watching us. Might be a wolf, might be something else. All I know is that if we ignore it we'll lead it towards the town." Everyone listened to what I said and readied their weapons as well.

The area around us became totally quiet, making me feel uneasy. All of a sudden I the bush in front of me starting to shake. Everyone turned towards it and watched as it shook.

"John, my sister here doesn't have weapon to protect herself with. What should I do with her?" Asked Steven.

"Keep her close to you, I'll take whatever is causing the bush to shake down." I said. I gave Steven a thumbs up and signaled him to back away.

I returned my attention to the shaking bush, I noticed that it was shaking even more violently. I took a deep breath and took a few steps towards it. All of a sudden a wolf jumped out and looked at me.

"Hello human, I am the wolf that is called Fang by my group. How are you today?" Asked the wolf.

I took a couple of steps back until falling on the ground. I looked at Steven and Alice and saw that they also had shocked expressions.

"You- you can talk?!" I yelled. I slowly got up and kept looking at the wolf.

"Oh, pardon me. I guess you've never seen a talking wolf before. That's understandable, we're the only wolf clan that can speak your language." The wolf walked up to me and sat on the ground.

"Ok Fang, was it? Well I need to get going now, I need to head towards the town. Catch you later." I said, waving him goodbye.

I walked up the Steven and Alice and grabbed their arms, dragging them away. Alice shook me off and turned towards where she said the town was.

"Hey wait! Let me come with you, my clan won't let me come home and I need somewhere to stay!" Yelled Fang.

"What? You know what, never mind. As long as you don't get in our way you can travel with us." I said.

I watched as Fang tried to catch up with us. I rolled my eyes and kept following Alice through the forest.
