Willpower

Vincent gripped his hair tightly and tried to steady his breathing. It was like he was being pierced with so many knives at the same time. The voices wouldn't stop talking in his head, was this...was this what it felt like to be possessed?

He released a pained groan. He couldn't...he wouldn't let this demon take over him!

An angry screech pierced his ears, the demon got madder with each passing second that Vincent fought against it. An unwilling host was a demon's worst nightmare.

Demon slayer! You will let me in, stop fighting the inevitable!

The demon said in his head. Vincent staggered and struggled in the darkness. The demon's plan had been to kill Beatrice, but Vincent managed to fight against it. He ended up knocking her out instead, and taking the girl. Now, he was in a secluded area trying to will the demon out of him.

You're weak!

Vincent ignored its voice and focused. His breath quickened as excruciating pain coursed through him. He kept on imagining a light as bright as the sun. At first, nothing happened. The demon just kept talking smartly and calling him names, but soon, it began screeching so loud that Vincent's ears bled.

He felt something liquid on his face and reached to touch it - it was blood. The blood flowed out of his nostrils.

He didn't let it distract him, and kept focusing on the light. He had to if he wanted to survive.

Soon after, a huge spasm followed and Vincent shook vigorously as the demon left. The signature black smoke seeped out of his mouth and nostrils exactly the same way it had entered into him.

"You fool, I will ruin you!" The demon screeched angrily when it had completely gone out of him. Vincent couldn't see it, but he could decipher the direction of its voice.

"I don't think so." Vincent whispered and swiftly took out the star of David from his belt.

"Avec!" He activated it and the black smoke appeared again but this time, it wasn't entering inside him, it was being sucked into the star.

"No! No!! I will not spare you, demon slayer!!!" The demon vowed and everything went silent...no black smoke, no screeching, just silence. The star glowed red, indicating there was a demon now trapped in it.

Vincent fell to the ground in exhaustion. He actually hadn't expected that to work, but he was glad it did.

He looked at the girl, she was still knocked out, but she will soon awaken. He needed to get her to a safe place before she did, and that safe place was not the temple.

Rose awakened slowly, her head was a banging mess and she felt like throwing up. She opened her eyes to see that she was in a small unfamiliar room. There was a small table, a rough hewn chair, and a man seated on the chair.

At first it was silent until it clicked, there was a man?!

She sat up quickly, flight mode activated. She first checked that she was fully clothed and to her relief, she was. She stared at the man.

"W-who are you?"

He sipped from his cup stupendously. At the rate he was taking those sips, it would be empty soon.

"I'm Commander Vincent Luciano, what's your name?" He asked calmly.

She stared at him in disbelief, did he really just ask for her name like it was the most convenient thing to do in the world?

"I demand to know what I am doing here, 'commander'." She demanded. Was he in the army or something? She wondered why he would use the title, commander.

Actually, he looked like he could be in the army. He was built like a rock and also very attractive. He had grey eyes that seemed to pierce her soul, his dark hair was messy like he had run his fingers through it a couple of times, he was tall and had the fullest lips she had ever seen. Damn, her kidnapper was goodlooking!

"That's no way to talk to a commander and your saviour at that," He said.

Arrogant too...and what did he mean by her saviour?

"Okay commander, can I go home now? My family must be really worried about me and...I can't find my phone!" She panicked. How was she supposed to get out of here if she couldn't call anyone?

He shrugged, "I think you dropped it where you were attacked."

His words helped her recall what happened. She remembered a man with a weird aura attacked her and almost crushed her hand, then she blacked out. She gasped and raised the hand that almost got crushed. To her surprise, it was okay, no scratches whatsoever. She had expected an injury so huge that it might have caused her to scar.

"The hell?" She whispered in shock.

"I said you would wiggle like a vermin under my feet!" The man had said. She remembered those words very vividly, it had been the same words the voice in her nightmare had spoken.

"What's happening?" She whispered again, still looking at her hand in wonder.

"You were attacked by a demon." Her kidnapper answered plainly.

She looked at him in confusion. Now, she was no newbie to the world of the supernatural and believed in it partially as she used to be catholic, but what she didn't understand was why a demon would attack her specifically.

"Why would a demon attack me?" She asked.

"Demons attack people everyday. What they do is possess a human and make them do their bidding," He said.

Okay, it was relieving to know that she wasn't the only one who got to be attacked by a demon, so...

"But the one that attacked you wanted to take you and not possess you." He added, ruining her moment of relief.

Take her? What would a demon want with her?

"Why?" She asked curiously.

"I don't know why yet, but know that you have great power."

She scoffed. At this point, it was clear that she was being passed from one mad man to the other.

"Look, I just want to go home, okay? My sister and mother are definitely worried sick, and I can't even call to tell them I'm okay, do you understand?" She asked softly. Maybe if she reasoned with the insane man, he would listen.

He ignored her and she took that as a green card. She got up from the bed and immediately regretted that she did.

"Oh god..." She gagged, "where's your restroom?"

He pointed towards a small door at the corner and she rushed there. She opened it and the musky smell that hit her, forced the vomit out - she hadn't even gotten to the toilet yet!

She threw up liquid because she had no solid food in her stomach. With a reddened face, she turned to look at the man angrily, but he just acted like nothing had happened and kept sipping from his cup. How he took large sips and the damn cup still wasn't empty, was beyond her!

"Your toilet smells horrible!" She exclaimed angrily.

He sighed deeply like she was a nuisance, stood up and took a piece of cloth from the table, then walked to meet her.

"You should clean up your mess." He handed the cloth to her quietly and walked back to his seat.

Her mouth was thrown open in shock, what the hell?

"This is your fault, your toilet smells horrible!" She repeated but he acted like he didn't hear her. Anger bubbled up in her chest and she let the cloth fall from her hand to the floor.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?" She asked angrily.

"I already told you, my name is commander Vincent Luciano and you, little girl with a filthy mouth, should get cleaning." He said with a deep baritone that made him sound and look more dangerous than he already was. She opened her mouth to give him a witty reply, but then she remembered she was all alone with him.

She gulped nervously. What if she angered him and he killed her? She didn't want to die, not yet. With that thought in mind, she picked up the cloth and turned to look at her vomit.

Oh god.
