The Stench of Destiny

Ying Yue laid in her bed like every night. Tightly tugged into the cozy sheets, she snuggled her delicate face into the comfy pillow and sighed heavily.

From the opened window, a gentle breeze waved into her room and moved through her silver hair like only a lover's gentle hand could do.

Staring at her medals and trophies placed on a shelf near her desk, she bit into her rosy lips and knitted her eyebrows in pain. Not able to bear the look of it anymore, she turns around and stared at the wall instead.

Even though she was pretty and intelligent, she never had any friends. People called her the Ice Empress and avoided her as much as they could, avoiding her gaze and running away from her like scared bunnies.

However, she wasn't cold or evil at heart, not at all! It was just that her social EQ was at rock bottom. She couldn't understand how to keep a conversation going and neither could she understand others feelings and emotions.

With the only emotions she could feel - sadness and depression, the daily life was hell for her. This wasn't a life lived, but survived! Life should be filled with friends, fun, and laughter. Yet for Ying Yu, it was filled with loneliness, misery, and stress, trying to cope with other people's emotions and trying to understand them.

Burying her head in the pillow, she whimpered in a brittle voice, "I wish I could feel more emotions… *sniffle* -understand others and have friends… living a simple life." A small grin flashed onto her lips and she laughed, "I am so desperate, I would even make a deal with the devil."

Suddenly, Ying Yue felt more sleepy than before. It wasn't the kind of sleepiness she endured every day and night like a heavy armor - no. This sleepiness felt like it seeped into her bones.

Normally, her everyday sleepiness weighed down on her powerless body, and her mind raced a marathon, not letting her sleep. But Ying Yue felt the sleep overwhelming her mind and giving her a feeling of peace.

Yielding to the long-yearned sleep, Ying Yue relaxed her body and fell asleep.

A single tear of misery made its way from her eye downwards, mixing with the drop of blood which came from her lip.

The mixed drop representing her pain and sadness dripped onto her sheets and stained it in a hideous red. Unnoticed by Ying Yue, the stain lit up with a dazzling, golden pentagram.

<< Demon Village somewhere in No-Man Land >>

The thick, blood-red fog stuck over the village like a leech. A few spires stood circular around a pitch-black tower in the middle of the village and some of them were filled with some red liquid.

Buried in the fog, a shabby house of wood stood near the black tower. It was clearly not maintained and no one cared about it. The door was torn out and its frame looked as if bears rammed their heads against it.

The wooden floorboards were crooked and some stomped into debris. Multiple sliding tracks in the ugly color of blood dyed the planks red. Following the bloody trail from the door, the trail led into a small room of the run-down house.

The room was completely empty aside from the stack of hay in the corner where the blood trail led to.

Suddenly, a heap of hay began to wiggle. It wiggled and pulsated up and down as if it was ready to give birth to something.

A tender hand stretched out from the middle of the stack of hay and a small girl emerged from the pile of hay. She looked to be only 12 years of age and had long, silver hair, flowing down over her shoulders. Her dazzling face of pure beauty was in contrast with the rough, brown clothes she wore.

"Where am I?... And why am I so small?" she murmured.

Instantly, a tide of pain stormed at her consciousness. She clutched her head with her hands and pressed her eyes shut. Grinding her teeth in pain, she distorted her face and fell backward into the pile of hay.

Memories of the former owner of this body flooded into Ying Yue's mind and their souls seemed to merge. She could see her village being burnt down by demons, people butchered and slaughtered like pigs, and the girl, Jessica, being enslaved by a humanoid demon because of her witch-powers.

As the pain subsided, she gasped for breath and clutched the hay near her. Under her breaths, she murmured, "Destiny is truly a bitch! I had a chance to be transmigrated into another body and live a happy life. But no! I just had to enter the body of someone enslaved by demons."

Unknown to her, this was the first time she felt anger and hate. The first time she could feel other emotions than sadness and depression. And she enjoyed every second of it. It felt as if the heavy armor of sleep was cast aside and a sword drenched in blood was pressed into her hand. But all these emotions and hate didn't stem from her, it came from Jessica's souls which merged with hers.

"If destiny wants me to live a life like this, I will gladly follow. I don't care if people think of witch-powers as evil and perverse. I don't need humans anyway. I will find my friends among demons," she said in resoluteness.

Having cast her past aside and decided to start life anew under the name 'Jessica', she stood up from the pile of hay and stretched her back under popping noises of her spine.

The stench of destiny filled her blazing eyes and tainted her innocent being with the scar of evilness which only a devil's heart could bear.

I would be grateful for every power stone I get.
