Chapter Forty Two

Her eyes slid open, white was all she saw. Startled, she tried to sit up only to be pulled back down by strong arms. Gasping she turned within the grasp, her eyes widened. Damien held her down but he didn't bother to open his eyes.

His brow furrowed, he tightened his hold and tugged her even closer. The demon Lord's nose tipped towards her then burrowed his face into the nape of her neck. His hot breath hit her mark, the sensation sent shivers down her body.

His tongue flicked against the mating mark, Rina's hand dove into his hair. She tugged at the silver locks, unsure if she wanted to stop him or pull him closer. The demon Lords breathy laugh brushed against her.

Damien pulled back and planted a solid kiss on her lips before getting out of bed.

"Oh shit, what time is it?"

Damien began to take his clothes off. Squealing, she looked down and saw his boxers drop to the floor.

A low rumble came forth, the bed dipped. Rina kept her head down.

"These reactions...I don't know if I'll ever get tired of them." Damien brushed his nose across her cheek.

Her face flushed, she pulled the sheets closer to her naked body.

"You're naked!"

He chuckled against her cheek and gave her a light peck.

"It's not like you haven't seen it all before." he whispered.

Rina dived under the covers. Damien laughed at her reaction and got off the bed. Her head popped up as soon as she heard the bathroom door click shut.

Sighing she laid back down and lifted random pieces of her shredded clothes up then let them fall back on the bed.

"We can't keep doing this." she whispered.

It was the first time she heard Damien laugh so freely. His interactions were less stoic and more revealing as the days went by. He put effort in speaking to her but they still hadn't talked about what he wanted from her. Not about her title and duties but what he wanted from her behind closed doors or was this just fun for now and later he would change.

Her thoughts darkened to what Tomas had told her; his past lovers. Rina could not deny the jealousy she felt but she could not say she was surprised. Damien was ridiculously gorgeous, human and demonesses alike fell at his feet. No one could deny how blessed he was.

Demonesses, it was something that always poked at her insecurities. She was confident in her looks but everyone knew the demon Lord took many demonesses to his bed. A human female gracing his bed was never part of any rumor that was coupled with his name.

Rina sighed, she was so taken by her thoughts she didn't hear the door open.

Damien wrapped a towel around his waist and dried his hair with another. Rina was facing away from him, the dips of her curves were accentuated by the thin white sheets. He had to force his gaze away from her form and headed to the walk-in closet that crossed into her line of sight.

Rina jolted from her internal thoughts when Damien walked into his closet. She sat up in the bed and leaned against the headboard. Her eyes swept over the room again, every single thing in the apartment size room was white.

Damien stepped out in a pair of boxers, showing off his broad shoulders and abs. His long legs were thickly muscled but not in a distasteful way. It was enough to know that this demon did not laze around. He put work into his perfectly portioned body.

Rina's throat dried at the sight, heat began to pool. Then she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She ignored the dark gaze Damien settled on her and turned her gaze elsewhere.

"Why were there so many soldiers in the house?"

Damien pulled a white long sleeve on. "I need to add security around the property." he pulled on a pair of black pants.

"Why do we need so much security?"

"Because I'm not the only one that lives here now."

"Are we in danger?" Rina pulled her knees up and wrapped her arms around them.

The demon Lord sighed and sat next to her. He pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and it lingered there before he cupped her cheek.

"No, but I rather make caustionary decisions then have regrets later. I have the most updated security system in the world. But I want people here to protect you and Nathaniel should the need arise."

"Okay," she whispered and leaned into his touch.

"I am not just the Lord of this territory, I have businesses overseas. That means I will be out of the country a few days out of the month." he explained.

"I understand." she said.

"I have scheduled a planner to arrive in a few hours to go over the details for the decor of the ballroom. She will show you examples of previous celebrations, let her know what you prefer."

"Won't you be there?"

Damien pulled away and walked back in the closet. He came back out with a black shirt and shorts.

"Why would I be there? I'm sure whatever you choose will look great. In the future as my Lady you will have total control of all decor and gatherings. It's one of the tasks you are fully responsible for."

He set the clothes near her. Rina's cheeks flushed, she looked at her destroyed clothes on the other side of the bed.

"You know you need to stop doing that." she mumbled.

"Doing what?"

Rina looked back at him and narrowed her eyes. She picked up a scrap of her sweater.

"This,"

His eyes darkened at the sight.

"I make no guarantees that it won't happen again." he smirked.

"Ugh you're such a jerk." she mumbled, but his superior hearing picked up everything she said.

He leaned in, his arms on either side were now caging her in. Rina flattened her back against the headboard but she had nowhere to go. Without thinking she pressed her hand over his mouth halting Damiens advance.

"No, no we can't do this again."

Damien growled against her hand forcing her to squeal. The vibration that tickled her palm.

"What is it that you need to stop Rina?"

She wanted tog roan when he said her name. The way it rolled off his tongue. The promise behind those words; she shuddered.

"I have one term I would like to disclose now."

For a moment confusion swept over his features. Then realization hit him, she had agreed to come to his home if he followed through with her terms. He was a demon of his word.

"It seems I will not get the full list of what you require anytime soon."

"No you won't, it's just one for now but it's important."

She began to fidget and bite her bottom lip.

"Rina," he whispered.

"Huh?" she looked up unaware of what her innocent actions did to him.

Her eyes widened. "Sorry!"

Damien sighed and sat back away from her. He needed a clear mind, however hard it was to maintain.

"I feel like we still don't really know each other. I mean we haven't had conversations or done things like a normal couple." she paused trying to find the right words. "I think we should start putting time aside for us to talk and do things together."

Damien smirked at the last part.

"Non-sexual things!" Rina added at the sight of his smirk.

"So you want to go on dates?"

"I guess? Why didn't I just say that?"

He chuckled. "It makes sense, I cannot fault you for wanting to know the demon you will spend the rest of your life with."

His words pushed through some of the insecurities she was having.

"Damien?" she looked down as she spoke. "I know we just agreed on getting to know each other more. But what exactly do you expect from me?"

"I'm not sure what you mean."

"For this to work I won't stand by if you get bored of me and try to find another muse."

"I have already told you before, wolf demons mate for life. I would not commit such a dishonorable act."

"But you're the Lord, you have so many past relationships. I'm sure you felt something for one of them. What if maybe not now but years later you realize this can't work?"

"Rina." he growled.

Her glazed eyes focused on his dark gaze, they flickered to red then back to a deep gold hue.

"The past is the past, we can't control that. But understand those were purely for release. I was not invested in any of them."

"Okay," she whispered, looking down at her lap.

"If it makes you feel any better I never slept with the same female twice."

Her head shot up. "Ever?" she questioned.

"Ever." he repeated.

Relief washed over her, it was something that constantly nagged at the back of her mind. In the beginning she didn't question him too deeply. But now as their sexual encounters became more frequent. Rina wanted to know if she was setting herself up for pain or would it turn into something more.

She had finally gotten her answer.

She finally got her answer!
