Wouldn't two of them do?

"Fine! I admit I was at fault. But wouldn't two of them do? I wouldn't mind two of them following me around but to have twenty of them on my trail all the time. God! it's too conspicuous. I almost had my identity busted by Andrea the last time I went on lunch with her."

"Are you kidding sister Rain? Brother Zed just deployed forty of our best men to follow you around." said Alex frantically.

"What?! Why?! Oh god no! I will be a good girl Zed, but please not sixty guards." Rain almost whined.

"Don't worry. Only forty will follow you. The twenty people from today need more training so I called them back. But it will be no less than forty and that's final." Zed said in a dominating tone.

"Eh? Lack training? But I think they are fine. Weren't they one of the top bunches of the bodyguards. And I have seen them training before. They are not bad."

"Yes, they are not bad, but they are not best either. The ones I have chosen this time are better ones" Zed said.

"But I am used to them" Rain tried to act coquettishly.

"Even if you are used to them, you cannot ask them to come, sister Rain. They should be able to do so first." Alex chimed in.

"Why?" Rain asked doubtfully.

"Because of you" Alex answered.

"Because of me? Damn you Alex, stop playing with me and tell me the reason in one swoop." Rain sounded irked.

"What did I do? I am already telling you the reason, okay. Unlike someone who is afraid to hurt your feelings" Alex said looking towards Zed which earned him a glare from the latter. Before Zed could stop him, he blurted out "Because all your bodyguards are in the hospital right now. They all sustained severe injuries after their adventure tonight."

"Alex!" Zed yelled at Alex.

"What? She deserves to know brother Zed. She should know about this. It might help her control herself in the future just like that time." Alex retorted.

"It was different Alex. The situation was light years apart from the like of this." Zed said.

"I know! But we can still try." Alex said.

Zed snorted. Then his gaze landed on Rain who went silent in remorse. "Sister Rain! it's not your fault. We knew this situation may arrive anytime, but those bodyguards got too cocky earning them their predicament." He tried to comfort his sister.

"I know, Zed. I know this way better than you. But you cannot deny that I hurt them while they were trying to protect me. Alex is right. I deserve to know all these. Don't hide these things from me, for me. I have to be in the light to avoid the dark. I understand that it is this reason you increased the number of bodyguards around me and what angers me the most is that I have no choice but to accept it. It is just that I feel sorry for them. Are they seriously injured?" Rain asked.

"What do you think sister Rain. Do you know that you have levelled up recently. The one with least injury is Paul. He only got his six ribs and one arm broken with some abrasions. And as for Xiao Li, the doctor has advised him at least one year of complete bed rest. Sheesh! I don't even want to recall his condition. But look at the brighter side, no one was on the brink of death this time. I am telling you, our men are getting better and better" Alex perked up when he mention this.

Rain smacked her head hearing Alex. This brat was always so hyped up. She gave him an angry look with a hint of indulgence.

"Don't worry sister Rain. As you are levelling up, so are our men. I have been personally overlooking their training this time. They won't go down that easily. You don't have to worry about anything. And about the guards who were injured tonight, they are already on their way here. It will be easy to treat them without alarming anyone. I bet today's incident has garnered the attention of many. They will scout all hospitals all over the country looking for the leads." Zed said.

"Hmm.. I will leave it to you then. Take care of them and tell them that I am sorry. I need to get some sleep now. I feel drained" Rain said, feeling exhausted. "Good night brothers."

"Good night sister Rain" came a bright and a dull voice in unison.
