A Date

A ten foot tall robot is walking downtown destroying street lights and anything in its path. Kai is following it on the rooftops.

Kai(in head): That's a behemoth. Isn't that the Chemist's robot?

Kai teleports to the robot and kicks it in the head. Kai lands on the ground. The robot's head barely moved from Kai's kick. The robot turns and looks at Kai.

Behemoth: Mutant, must be exterminated!

Behemoth starts shooting laser beams out of its eyes. Kai runs around the robot staying ahead of it's lasers. Kai throws his staff at its head. Behemoth stops shooting lasers. Kai's staff lands on the ground. Kai runs over and picks up his staff. Kai stabs his staff through Behemoth's leg. Then Kai hears the sound of many cars driving into the area.

Kai: Huh?

Behemoth slams its arms onto the ground. Kai barely manages to dodge it. While Kai jumps back, Behemoth shoots lasers at him. The lasers send Kai into the wall of a building. Kai starts running at Behemoth again dodging Behemoths laser eyes, and once Kai gets close Behemoth holds out his hand and blasts Kai. Kai blocked it, but his arms now have burns on them. Kai starts running at Behemoth again barely managing to dodge all the lasers. Kai grabs his staff out of Behemoths leg, and then stabs it straight up Behemoths throat.

Behemoth: M-M-M-M-Mutant…

Behemoth starts to go haywire before shutting down. Cop cars surround the area. Cops get out with their guns pointed at Kai.

Kai: Don't worry officers. I took care of it. If you could let me be on my merry way-

Owen: Fire!

The cops start shooting at Kai. Kai takes his staff out of Behemoths head and starts spinning his staff around. He blocks the bullets. Kai is hit with a few of the bullets, and then Kai hears a dart shoot out of one of the guns. Kai teleports onto a roof. The cops look around. They can't see Kai.

Ryan: So that's the "Crimson Dragon."

Owen: Looks like it. We almost got him men! Pack up, we'll get him next time!

The cops start returning to their vehicles.

Ryan: He doesn't seem too powerful.

Owen: They never do.

Ryan smiles and they both get into their car and drive away.

Kai: They're after me now. I'll have to talk to the President about this.

The next day Kai is making lunch. He is on the phone with President Bordon.

Kai: So you're just going to do nothing?

President Bordon: It's crooked cops. That happens all the time. I can't devote my time to that. I have more important matters.

Kai: Like?

President Bordon: Planning dear boy.

Kai: Planning for what.

President Bordon: For what's to come. That's the end of our meeting. I have another meeting to attend.

The President hangs up.

Kai(in head): Since the cops are able to take down Mutants it seems like a risk to go out right now. I should do something else.

Kai looks at his phone. He sees Raelynn's phone number.

Kai: Now that's a good idea.

Kai calls up Raelynn. It rings a few times, and she picks up.

Raelynn: Hello?

Kai: Hey, it's Kai. I was thinking we could do something-

Raelynn: Are you asking me on a date?

Kai: If you want to be so forward about it then… yeah. When are you free?

Raelynn: Can you do tonight?

Kai: I'll be there by six thirty.

They hang up.

Kai: Damn, my heart is pounding. I'm way less nervous when I'm drunk.

Remi sits down on her couch with a sandwich. She turns on the news.

Reporter: Last night a business man was attacked at one of his office buildings. The man that killed him destroyed the wall of the office building to escape. People say that they didn't hear any explosions. Could this be another Mutant?

Remi puts down her sandwich and walks into the other room. Remi writes on a sticky note and puts it on the map she has on her board.

Remi: Another one of these attacks. Hm…

Remi walks back into her living room. She sees her cat is eating her sandwich.

Remi: Really?!

The cat looks up at Remi and meows. Remi shakes her head.

Remi: What am I going to do with you?

Max is at home. He is on his computer thinking about the black flashes from before.

Max: I need to tell Kai about those. Just in case he needs to be prepared for whatever they are.

Max picks up his phone and calls Kai. The phone starts ringing. Kai is swimming in his pool before he gets in the shower. He hears his phone ring. He swims over to it and sees it's Max.

Kai: I don't feel like dealing with him.

Kai keeps swimming. Max hears the phone go to voicemail.

Max: He's still being a petty bitch about it. Whatever, he'll be over it by tomorrow.

The news starts playing. It plays the same thing Remi heard.

Max: Wait a minute.

Max looks at the security cameras he was watching.

Max: Those camera's link up with last night's attack. I'm going to get Remi to make Kai get over it. This is too important for a petty argument.

Kai finishes putting on formal clothing. Then he looks at himself in the mirror.

Kai: Eh.

Kai walks down the stairs and gets in his car. He drives to the restaurant. He talks to the waitress and she sits him at his table. Kai waits a few minutes. Ten minutes late Raelynn comes in. She sits down at the table with Kai.

Raelynn: Sorry I'm late.

Kai: You're ten minutes late. That's practically nothing.

The waitress comes over.

Waitress: What would you like to drink?

Kai looks at Raelynn.

Raelynn: Just a water to start off please.

Waitress: And you?

Kai: Same for me please.

The waitress leaves. There is silence for a second.

Kai: So, what's one of your hobbies. Besides gambling of course.

Raelynn: I like reading.

Kai: What?! Readings a dead sport.

Raelynn: It's not a sport.

Kai: Definitely dead though.

Raelynn: I'm guessing you don't like to read.

Kai: Never really felt like those words on a page beat a movie.

Raelynn: This is off to a good start. You already hate one of my hobbies.

Kai: But I don't hate you.

Raelynn: Cute. What's one of your hobbies then?

Kai: Good ol' fashioned martial arts.

Raelynn: Do you do it as a sport or for fun.

Kai: Eh, just for fun. It does have its uses though.

Raelynn: What, with the occasional bar fight?

Kai: You don't know.

Raelynn: I don't.

They both lift up their menus.

Kai: What are you thinking?

Raelynn: I'm thinking about how many more corny lines you'll say before dinner.

Kai: I mean food wise, but go off.

They both laugh.

Raelynn: I'm thinking salmon.

Kai: This is gonna hurt the wallet.

Raelynn: I-

Kai: It was a joke. I'm not broke.

Max knocks on Remi's door holding his laptop. Remi opens the door.

Remi: Max?

Max: I need to talk to you.

Max walks into Remi's house.

Remi: Come in, I guess.

Remi shuts the door.

Max: Kai is mad at me for no reason!

Remi: What's the reason?

Max: What had happened was, we were arguing over Mutants. I think that less Mutants is always a good thing, and Kai's a Mutant so he didn't agree.

Remi: You kept arguing didn't you?

Max: No, he was arguing back.

Remi buries her face in her hands.

Remi: Your so stupid.

Max: But now I have some information.

Max walks past the board Remi has. He looks at it, and it reminds him of something.

Max: Holy-

Max puts down his laptop and starts typing.

Remi: Um, Max?

Max completely ignores Remi.

Then he finishes typing.

Max: Your sticky notes have just solved most of this case.

Remi: What?

Max: Can I plug my laptop into your tv?

Remi: If it explains why you keep jumping around.

Max: Great!

Max plugs his laptop into Remi's tv. The laptop shows the locations of cameras that saw the black flashes.

Remi: This has the same pattern as my sticky notes.

Max: Yes! The cameras are triggered by the same people because they committed all those crimes. Then if you look at the way they are running to get there and go back you can see that they are in the middle of all the places they attacked.

Remi: That leads you right to their base.

Max: Yes!

Max types in his computer more. Then the computer zooms in on an area.

Max: They are most likely here.

Remi: Lets call Kai.

Kai is in the bathroom. His phone starts ringing. He hits end call then texts Remi that he is on a date with Raelynn.

Remi: He's busy.

Max: With what?!

Remi: He's on a date.

Max: So?! This is more important!

Remi: I'll go. I'll see if I can figure out where they are.

Max: Be careful.

Remi: I will.

Remi grabs a few things and leaves the house. Kai and Raelynn are walking down the waterfront.

Kai: I'm so full!

Raelynn: Because you ate a ton of appetizers.

Kai: They were so good though.

They both chuckle.

Raelynn: Your lucky you like martial arts.

Kai: Yeah because if I didn't I would have more time to eat appetizers.

Raelynn: Not what I was thinking.

Kai: I knew what you were thinking.

Raelynn stops in front of Kai and turns around to look him in the eyes.

Raelynn: Then what am I thinking now.

Kai wraps his arms around Raelynn and kisses her.

Raelynn: Maybe you can read minds.

Kai: I wish I could, but it's getting late-

Raelynn: Oh c'mon, we're both adults. Late doesn't mean anything to us. Wouldn't you hate to cut the night short?

Raelynn has a devilish smile.

Raelynn: There's always my place.

Later that night Kai and Raelynn walk into Raelynn's house. They walk into her room. The start kissing, and Kai pushes Raelynn onto the bed. Kai starts kissing her while she's laying down. They both start taking off their clothes.

Raelynn: Now what do you think about it being late?

Kai: Don't know what you're talking about.

Remi is walking around town.

Remi: What would a hideout even look like.

Remi sees a few shady characters walk into a building. The building doesn't have a sign. Remi walks in. People are everywhere. One is throwing flaming knives at a dart board. A woman makes the beer come out of her drink and right into her mouth using her hands. Remi sits at the bar. Two guys walk up to her. On starts grabbing her arm.

Thug: You seem so delicate. Are you really a Mutant?

Remi rips her arm out of his grip.

Thug2: Maybe she isn't so delicate.

Remi: I'm not a Mutant.

Everyone in the bar stops.

Thug: Fever!

Remi looks nervous. A dark skinned man wearing a white muscle shirt and red shorts walks out of the back.

Fever: Is that a human?
