2 truths, 1 lie

"Oh my god, Kimiko!" Aima wails as she comes dashing over to me, practically throwing herself at me. I was curled up in a ball on the couch, grunting under her weight as I protected my stomach. "Hey, Aima…" I say softly as she quickly pulls away, frantically scrubbing at her eyes. "I promised myself I wouldn't cry, dammit- as soon as you called us all here I sobbed my heart out, hoping to get it out before I even got here. Then I saw you and- and- I can't help it! I've missed you so bad!" Aima sobs and I can't help but offer her a half-hearted smile. "It's okay. I fully expected you to cry today." I say and she lets out a tear filled laugh as she offers me a watery smile. "Yeah, I'm a pretty big crybaby. I'm just- I'm so glad you're back. I can't wait for us to be friends again." Aima laughs, though I hear Arthur walk in as he whips to look at me. "Oh my fucking god, you're back from the dead. Do you know how long I've been waiting for you to come back?! It's been hell without you, Kiki!" Arthur says, throwing his hands into the air as he walks over. "Oh- um- Arthur…" I say, though Judas practically jumps in front of me, offering Arthur a big smile as she hooks her arm over his shoulders.

"She was just waiting for a familiar face, if you know what I mean!" Judas laughs as she walks him over to the couch, having caught Arthur off guard. "Judas! You're- You're here." Arthur says as Judas flashes him a big smile, giving him a playful punch to the gut. "Yeah I am! Someone had to give the queen comfort in her time of need, after all, we're the teeth, aren't we?!" Judas says as she lets out a hearty laugh, though Arthur is silent as his eyes say it all. He looks at me, his eyes burning with questions as I avoid his gaze. I knew he was going to be the most upset of them all about the news, that he was going to insist on me aborting. I had told Judas first- she caught the first plane out, listened to everything and volunteered to keep Arthur in check when I broke the news. "Who better to protect her than her faithful dog?" Judas says plainly, dipping her head into Arthur's view as she offers him a smile. "After all, someone left me out of the big loop again, so I'm gonna stick around for a while to make sure everything is alright. Nothing new for us, right?" Judas says as she pats Arthur's shoulder, leaning back and holding him down as she glances around the room as people fill in.

"Judas? You're here?" Kuroo asks, Judas glancing over her shoulder and flashing Kuroo a grin. "In the flesh! Hey, Roosterhead! How's it going?! It's good to see ya!" Judas laughs as Kuroo lets out a soft laugh, glancing over to me. "I'm good… I'm glad you've been here for her." Kuroo says and Judas flashes him a smile, nodding her head. "Of course, I couldn't leave her when she needed me the most. What kind of dog would I be if I wasn't by her side? Well, someone left me out of the loop again but… better late than never!" Judas says as she ruffles Arthur's hair, though I pull my blanket more snug over my shoulders. Suna comes in, though he pauses as soon as he sees me. "You cut your hair." He says and I nod my head, lightly itching the back of my neck. "Um, yeah… Judas helped, I needed a change." I say and he hums, seeming a bit suspicious as I turn away. "You must be Aima! Nice to meet you, I'm Kimiko's other childhood friend she's never told you about!" Judas says as she slides her hand out to Aima with a big smile. "I know, let's play a game of 2 truths and one lie so we can get to know each other!" Judas laughs, right according to plan.

"Okay, um… I'm lesbian, I bleach my asshole and I can lift up to 120 pounds!" Judas says, Aima humming as she strokes her chin. "Jeez, that's so friggin' hard." Aima says as she leans back, sighing as she lays her head against the couch. Everyone was gathered around and sitting, me still curled in my same spot and tucked into my cocoon of blanket. It had relaxed quite a bit with the game of 2 truths and one lie, Aima having started and all the boys. "I'm guessing the lesbian thing." Teru says, though Judas makes an 'X' with her hands and a buzzer noise. "Nope, I don't bleach my asshole. I thought it was pretty obvious that I was lesbian." Judas laughs, though Toru laughs as he offers Judas a smile. "I figured you were muscular, but I couldn't really tell." Toru says as Judas grins, pulling her sleeve up and flexing her arm. "Oh, I'm beefy." Judas laughs, though Toru laughs as he lifts Iwai's arm. "I'd like to see you try to arm wrestle my boyfriend." Toru teases though Iwai rolls his eyes, shoving Toru back. "Maybe if you had some muscle, you could take her on yourself." Iwai says, making Toru whine. "Meanie Iwa-chan!" Toru says, making Judas laugh as she grins at Iwai.

"I could eat puny muscles like that for breakfast!" Judas claims, Iwai raising an eyebrow at her as he hums softly. "I'd like to see you try." Iwai says, flashing her a cocky grin as she laughs. "After this game, you're on. It's my Queen's turn now, though… isn't that right, my Queen?" Judas says as she stands up and walks over, setting her hands on my shoulders. "Oh… um… yeah." I say shyly, feeling pretty queasy- I had been managing to keep it under control, but as everyone's eyes turned to me I felt anxious and sick. "It's okay, it's just two truths and one lie, right? Just get it done and over with, make it a good one." Judas laughs as I swallow back the acid in my throat, slowly nodding my head. "Okay…" I say shyly as she rubs my shoulders, smiling sweetly at me. "No matter what… I got your back." She whispers and I nod, blowing out a slow breath as I shift, sitting up in my chair. "Okay… two truths, one lie." I mumble as I take her hand, squeezing it lightly and getting little comfort from it. "I… um… I… fuck it. I'm pregnant, one of you is the father and the competition will continue." I say, the room falling so silent you could hear a pin drop as I cover my face.

"Fina-fucking-ly! We can talk about the god damn fucking obvious- You know what's gonna happen, right Kiki?" Arthur says as he stands up and I flinch, Judas stepping between us and putting her hand against Arthur's chest. "I'm gonna stop you right there, Arthur. I know what you got in mind and if you try it, we will have a fucking war on our hands. I'm not gonna let you touch her while I'm here, you got that? You're not laying a fucking finger on her. Never again. Why don't you let the lady speak and answer questions, then we can have a private conversation later like civil people who don't punch pregnant people in the stomach." Judas snarls and Arthur pins her with a glare as he huffs. "I… I'm sorry, Paradise. I don't do kids- for your sake and mine, I hope it's not mine." Tendo says and I hesitantly nod, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I must agree with Tendo, I am unable to support a child as I am now. If the child is mine, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to be a proper father figure." Ushi says and I nod, pressing my lips together as I swallow thickly. "I- you're pregnant?" Daichi asks and I shift lightly, slowly lowering my legs and the blanket.

"I'm… I'm approximately 11 weeks along." I whisper, the room falling silent again as I feel everyone staring at me. I was already showing a slight baby bump in my tank top, the faintest but surest of signs on my petite frame. Suna covers his mouth, Kuroo staring blankly at my stomach as tears gather in Kozu's eyes. The others look flabbergasted, but not exactly surprised. "I-I'm sorry, Sugar…" Suga says as I press my lips together, feeling my heart drop- that was three apologies in a row. "It's okay." I whisper softly, sliding my hand to my stomach and cradling that bump. "It's not fucking okay!" Arthur yells as he makes a pained face, making me flinch. "Arthur, please." I whisper dejectedly as he shakes his head. "I'm not going to let you ruin your life, Kimiko Suzuki!" Arthur says as tears gather in my eyes at his words and frustration. "It's my life, Arthur Pendragon." I say bitterly, feeling the bitter taste in the back of my throat. "Well I'm not helping you destroy it. You know damn well you can't handle another baby, stubborn or not. You can't support a family at your age alone and I'm not fucking helping you with this. You know how I feel." Arthur says, though his implication makes me feel sick.

"You think I don't know? You think I'm begging for your pity, for your help? Did I ask for your help before? No, I asked for your fucking support and you punched me in the fucking stomach. I don't need shit from you or anyone, Arthur. The only reason I had this party is because Kioshi insisted that I actually tell them I'm pregnant with one of their children and I thought they should know. I didn't come here to put the responsibility of something they didn't ask for on them, I simply came to inform them that I am carrying a child that is not the man's. I don't give a shit who's the father because it's not their fucking problem and I'm not going to make it their problem. It's my child and I'm going to do what is best for me, my family and my friends. I don't need you breathing 'abort it' down my neck when I'm just trying to be happy. You're the fucking reason I don't ask for help when it comes to this shit- because I know for damn sure that this is my cross to bear. I'm not gonna get punched again by trusting someone and letting them get close only to regret it when they turn their back and watch me fall." I spit, standing up and glaring cold daggers at Arthur as he tightly pressed his lips together.

"I'm quitting. The competition is over. It's done. I'm done. I've decided I'm not involving any of you in this. You never asked for this and I'm going to make sure that you don't have to suffer the consequences of my decision. It's over, that's final. You don't have to take responsibility, I'm going to do this… Alone. So… I guess this is my goodbye." I say before I turn on my heal, storming for the door as I feel tears slide down my face- stupid pregnancy hormones. "Wait, Kimiko-" Kuroo calls but I jerk the door open, stepping out of the way and gesturing inside. "They're all yours, Kioshi. Anyone who wishes to absolve any and all responsibility of the child, discuss it with my lawyer. If you have any questions or concerns, discuss it with my lawyer. He'll be handling the matter from here on out, please do not contact me. Good day." I say as Kioshi hesitantly steps in, sparing me a concerned look as I storm out, Judas hot on my tail. "Kimiko- wait! Listen to me!" Kuroo says as I hear him push out of the door, chasing after us. Judas steps in his way, blocking his path as I stop. "Look, Kuroo, I get it. You pity me for this, but it's my decision and-" I say, not even turning to look at him as more tears slide down.

"I don't fucking pity you and I sure as hell don't blame you for the decision you're making. I know you, I know you're strong and determined, you're as sassy and as passionate as it can be and when you set your mind on something you're not going to change it. I'm not here to change your mind or pity you, I'm here to offer my support." Kuroo cuts me off and I fall silent, not knowing what to say. "I'm not saying that you need my help, either. I'm simply stating that regardless of the situation and what you think, to me, you come first. That includes that baby and your children. I know you're strong, but you're not invincible. It's okay to be weak, it's okay to ask for help- and as much as you try to hide it, I know you called Judas here because you do need help." Kuroo says and I press my lips tightly together, dropping my gaze down. "I'm here. I'm willing to help, no matter what. I'm not saying you have to come to me, I'm not saying that you should. By all means, do what you believe is best- but I will be here, ready and willing to help. I didn't get your Grandpa's approval for nothing, Kimiko Suzuki. I earned it." Kuroo says firmly, sounding determined and proud as I shift lightly.

"Just like I'll earn my spot in your life if you let me. We all will- Arthur's a one of a kind asshole for what he did to you, but I would never fucking lay a hand on you or your children in violence or with intent to harm. I am here to care and support you and to do what I believe is best for you and yours. Nothing will change that. So I may walk away now and give you space, but if you need anything- anything at all, I will be here. I don't care if it's at the ass crack of dawn and you can't get a pickle jar open or if it's the middle of the night and you need someone to hold you-" Kuroo says, though at the mention of pickles I get fucking nauseous. I gag, slapping a hand over my mouth as I dashed to the nearest bathroom, preparing myself for another long night of being the toilet's best friend. "Ya just had to mention pickles, didn't you?" Judas laughs as Kuroo blinks, caught off guard by Kimiko's sudden fleeing. "She fucking hates pickles when she's pregnant, the meer mention of them makes her sick to her stomach." Judas says, patting Kuroo's shoulder. "Which sucks, cause you were actually getting somewhere. I'll go take care of her." Judas says before she turns, following Kimiko.

Kuroo doesn't know what to do, standing there reluctantly for a while, debating if he should give chase. He had really said all he could without repeating himself, so he decided to give her space. If he just pressured her too much he'd scare her away, especially since she was vulnerable right now. If he waited patiently for her to come to him, he could truly step up and show that she could trust him. After all, she didn't have to listen to a word he said, but she did. It gave him some small hope that she would come around, that his words tickled her. Even if she came to him and bickered over the wording, he would gladly take the opportunity to show her his true intent. He headed back to the room everyone else was in, stepping inside. "For the record, don't say pickles around Kimiko." Kuroo says as he slides in, seeing everyone gathered with some kneeling at the table, signing paperwork. "Congrats, you doomed her to a day of worshipping the porcelain bowl." Arthur snorts, seeming pretty cynical about the whole thing though Kuroo finally realized that Suna and Kozu were signing the paperwork. "What the fuck are you doing?!" Kuroo says as he storms over, snatching the pen for Kozu.

"I'm sitting here fighting for our chances and you're signing away your rights?! What the fuck, you two?! Really?! You're the last two people I'd expect this from!" Kuroo says, seething at the core as he grinds his teeth together. "Whoa, deep breath, Kuroo. We aren't signing away shit- We're consenting to a DNA test to see if the child is ours." Suna says, making Kuroo freeze as his mind goes blank. "Did- did she agree to that?" Kuroo asks, pretty taken off as Kozu takes the pen back. "Technically, no, but she didn't disagree either. You are liable to know, plus having the child's medical background will come handy in future records. It's best to cover all grounds- if we trade the results for the medical background of your family, as long as you don't mention them to anyone… Well, let's just say it should be a well kept secret. Only the father will know." Kioshi says as he holds out a test tube to Kuroo, raising an eyebrow at him. "I'm kinda rootin' for you anyways. Considering you actually got to say pickles in whatever speech you gave her before she ran for the hills… well, you're probably going to get somewhere." Kioshi says, giving Kuroo a half-hearted grin.

"Oh, but don't file for custody. I won't let you have the kid, even if she doesn't make it in the end. She's already been working on arrangements and plans for every scenario." Kioshi says as Kuroo hesitantly takes the test from him. "Do… do I need to sign anything?" Kuroo asks, beginning to thoroughly read the label. "No, the only reason the other two are is because they're underage. You're good to swab and go." Kioshi says, Kuroo nodding as he opens the packaging. "There's no chance that the man is the father by the way, so we know the father's in this room. You should've seen what she did- she went to the prison twice- once to get his DNA sample, the next to proudly shove it in his face that the baby wasn't his and give him the royal bird. He was livid, but she walked out of there like a champ. I'm so damn proud of that girl, standing up for herself like that. She's strong, just like her father." Kioshi says as he crosses his arms, turning back to Kozu and Suna. Kuroo pops open the capsule, taking the swab and taking a sample. He couldn't help but wonder, though- if she had faced the man and overcome her obstacles, then what was holding her back now?

"Arthur?" Kuroo says as he puts back the swab, giving it back to Kanori once it was properly sealed. "Look, Kuroo, I didn't even consider keeping Nen around until after she woke up from a coma and was okay. You can't tell me to reach out to her and support her, it was hard enough last time to just sit and watch-" Arthur sighs, though Kuroo looks over at Arthur and sighs. "I'm calling in any and all favors and asking you this as a friend. How can you say that you would sacrifice your life for her but you won't be by her side when she needs you most? If she can't trust you, her best friend, when she needs help and support the most… then how the hell are we supposed to stand a chance? You already saw she's pushing us away because she feels she can't trust anyone. I'm not saying step up and take responsibility. You know Kimiko- be reasonable and think of it from her perspective. She's hurt, she feels alone and she feels like this is all on her. Just think about it Arthur- she's a stubborn girl, but she's not always strong. If she's not going to come to you or us… then who else does she really have?" Kuroo says, Arthur pressing his lips together as he furrows his eyebrows.

"I know she's been in our house and it seems like we're here for her but… she's been pushing us away, too. She doesn't feel like she can put the responsibility of another child on my shoulders, even if we insist. She's really been stressing herself out about it, trying to think how she can possibly get through this… she doesn't want help, but she needs it and she's rejecting it. My father can force her in court, but we really don't want to do that. If we do that then… who's to say how she'll feel? If she feels forced to let us take care of that child… well, I'd much rather have her relent and see she has no other options than to force her hand. She's hurt enough as is… so even if it's only just letting her know you won't do anything against her and lending her a ear… I'm asking that you at least be considerate, Arthur." Kanori says, Arthur pressing his lips even tighter as he clenches his fist. "I am being considerate of her, can nobody else see the problem here? She won't fucking survive another child, last time-" Arthur hisses, though Suna puts a hand on his shoulder. "This isn't last time. This is this time, it's different." Suna says and Arthur hesitantly looks back at his trusted friend.

"Last time she was under pressure from all around- even those who supported her and loved her believed she should get an abortion and she was fighting an uphill battle alone. Pressure and stress affect the pregnancy and the child's health- this time, she has help and support waiting but she feels like she can't reach out because of last time. This pregnancy is going to be difficult, but she doesn't have to go through it alone. I'm sure I'm not the only one willing to step up and help her when she needs it the most, but… it's as Kuroo and Kanori said. If she can't trust you, then how can she ever trust us? She's hurting, she's pushing people away and stressing herself out. We can push her and force our help upon her but… who knows how she'll react? She might close herself off, she might fall apart when she thinks she's not in control… I hate to say it, Arthur… but if anyone's going to get through to her, it has to be you. We're asking you to see it from her perspective now, with all these people around, her last pregnancy fresh in her mind and… well, let's just admit it. It's obvious you want her to have an abortion and that hurts her too." Suna says, Arthur sighing as he presses his palms into his eyes.

"I was there, okay? I was there, last time. I was by her side the entire time- I saw her puking her fucking guts out, I saw how thin and frail she got. I saw that baby tearing her apart and leaving behind a shell of a woman. Her body isn't good for kids, the doctors said it would be a goddamn miracle if she even conceived again. They said it would be an even greater miracle if she fucking survived again. I- I get it, I do. As reluctant as I was last time, I still stayed by her side even after… she pushed me away after that, okay? She pushed me away and told me to stay the fuck away in her pregnancy. I had to stay 10 fucking feet away from her or else she'd fucking panic. You think I can just look at her, see how much I hurt her, remember how that baby was killing her and just… magically make it okay? It fucking terrifies me to know she's pregnant again. I know her mother feels the same damn way, she's probably thinking about how she's going to die carrying that child and it's all gonna for naught and we're only going to be left with Nen who's wondering why his fucking mommy is gone. Who's gonna fucking tell him?" Arthur says as he pulls his hands back, tears in his eyes.

"And the only reason I'm not by her fucking side right now is because I'm thinking of Nen, too I know what she's fucking thinking. She's thinking she has to make a choice between her children, she's thinking 'how can I abandon this child when I fought with everything I had for the last', she's thinking 'what if I die and leave Nen behind', she's thinking 'it would have been better if it was the man's child because at least then I could say fuck it and just stick it out, but it's one of the boys and they'll either reject the child or they'll hold themselves responsible when they have their own lives, it'll be my own fault because I'm too stubborn and I'll be dragging them into it'. This whole thing just reeks of disaster, okay? I know she's got help, I know she's- she's really fucking hurting and she's probably all in her head thinking she's alone when she's really not. What you don't understand is she knows me to, she knows I want her to abort with everything I have, she fucking knows. Even if I wanted to reach out and try to be reasonable, all she'll see is the hand of a traitor." Arthur spits, a tear sliding down his cheek. "So you're not even going to try?" Suna asks, Arthur trembling at the words.

"Kanori?" I ask and he hums softly as he takes the tray of pills, setting it beside me. "What… what kind of people are my father's parents?" I ask as I grab the cup of pills and water, tossing them back. "They're blue bloods, but they're decent people. They're very reasonable, not snobby and without the whole better-than-you attitude. That isn't to say that they don't have their own thoughts and opinions, but… they're gentle people when they want to be." Kanori says as I take another drink of water, setting the pills back down. "Why?" Kanori asks and I shrug, setting the water cup back down. "Just… I've been thinking. My dad… he said that they were complex people stuck in their ways and traditions because society called that upon them, but that they were good people." I say, making Kanori laugh as he nods his head. "Yeah, yeah, that describes them pretty well. I mean, it's hard being at the top. Being rich and powerful comes with lots of responsibilities and people looking for anything wrong with you at all." Kanori muses as he shoves his hand in his pockets. "I mean, they're good people- it's just you've gotta see it yourself to know it." Kanori says and I hum softly, fiddling with my fingers.

"Come on, lemme show you something." Kanori says, offering me a hand as I perk up, hesitantly giving him my hand. He pulls me to stand up, wrapping his arm around my waist and guiding me out of the room. He takes me to Kioshi's study before he shushes me, pressing his ear to the door. I follow suit, hearing Kioshi on the phone. "Yes mother, the boy is fine. You don't have to worry about him, he's in sound health and is being very good about the whole thing. There is no reason to fret, he's a very smart boy and can be very reasonable when he wants to be." Kioshi says and I hear a hum- the phone was on speaker. "Good, I'm glad to hear it. And the girl?" Akemi asks, making me stiff as I hear Kioshi sigh. "There's… there's still cause for concern, I'm afraid. She's been very distant and refusing to accept our help… it was hard enough to get her to accept our help last time, but now it seems like she feels reluctant to accept our help at all, no matter how much I insist that it's okay. She's been staying at our house because her mother… well, I'm afraid she's insisting that the child be aborted." Kioshi says and I hear another hum from the speaker.

"I see, stubborn girl. Always refusing to accept help freely, isn't she? You'd think we bite the way she fights it." Mitsu chuckles, making Kioshi chuckle as Kanori gives me a playful nudge of the shoulder. "Yes… she's always been one to take responsibility for her actions and decisions, regardless of the consequences. She reminds me of her father in that way, her stubbornness and determination. It's something she surely got from him." Kioshi muses and I can't help the faint smile that spreads over my face. "On the topic of father's… do we know who the father of the child is?" Akemi asks and Kanori is silent for a while, some paperwork shuffling. "Not as of yet, we do know it is not the Man. I do know that the pregnancy is because of the Man's actions, however. She does insist on making sure that the father does not feel responsible or be held accountable as he was under the guise that she could not conceive due to birth control. I believe she wishes the father to stay out of the picture." Kioshi says, Akemi humming as they're silent for a while. "Well, if she does decide to officially join the family, that will be of use." Mitsu says, though Akemi sighs as I hear more shuffling.

"It will be hard to find a suitor willing to take on two children of two different fathers, especially at her age. However, it won't be impossible due to the circumstances. I'm sure there is someone out there suitable for her tastes and reasonable enough to understand that she did not ask for this, it was merely forced upon her… however, I must commend her for being so brave and stubborn to not only bear the children and take responsibility for them. I don't know if I could do the same in her position, especially alone and being so stubborn as to not accept help." Akemi says as I shift lightly, dropping my gaze. "That's if she wishes to be accepted into the family, she has yet to mention you or to seek you out." Kioshi says and I hear another sigh on the speaker. "Tsk. Stubborn indeed, but I guess it is my own fault for being so unthoughtful. While I believed she possibly regretted the first child, it seems I only drove her away with my beliefs. Unfortunately, thanks to you being so stubborn on the subject, I can't apologize until she reaches out. It's really a shame, the girl is very… well, as I'm sure you know, she is particular." Akemi says and I press my lips together, looking at the door.

"Ha… we still have no heir to the company as of now, which is regrettable as I am ready to retire. Goodness knows I've spent my life in the spotlight, I'm ready to settle down and meet my Granddaughter and her son as family, not as a business investment. It's unfortunate enough that I lost my oldest son… to think we drove away his blood, especially when it seems she is so much like him… it is really a shame. I would've loved to build that relationship." Mitsu says, though Akemi let's out a soft sigh. "I am sorry, my love. If only I had been more… open minded." Akemi says, though I hear a soft smooch. "It's alright, my love. I know you feel the same. Perhaps it's not too late for her to come around, she's still young after all. You know how her father was- once he had time to settle and reflect, things became clear and he became reasonable, as stubborn as he was." Mitsu says, Akemi humming softly. Had I been too quick to judge them? You couldn't exactly blame me with how hostile Akemi had been at first, then with the whole putting my son up for adoption so I could join the family thing. I pull away from the door, heading back to my room with more to think of on my mind.

"Um… Hey, Kanori?" I ask as I peek my head into his room and he looks up at me, adjusting his guitar in his lap. "Hey, Butterfly. What's up? Do you need something?" He asks, seeming pretty surprised as I had come out of the blue. He had been giving me my space and only visited to give me pills, food or drink- this was the first time I had sought him out. "Well- no, kind of? I don't- I just… um…" I mumble, dropping my gaze down and shifting lightly. "You don't have to be shy, Kimiko. I'll listen to whatever you have to ask, we're family." Kanori says and I blow out a breath, hesitantly looking back up at him. "Can you… give me a ride? To um… our… grandparents house? I don't… I don't want Kioshi to know, but… I want to talk to them." I say and Kanori shifts lightly, seeming a bit confused. "Why don't you want Kioshi to know?" Kanori asks and I drop my gaze again, pressing my lips together. "Well, he's been really busy lately- I don't want to spring it on him and then have him drop everything to attend to me when I'm just going on a whim. Especially since I might just end up chickening out…" I say, Kanori slowly nodding as he sets down his guitar.

"I see… Sure, I'll take you, but I'm telling him that we're leaving. I'll tell him you wanted some fresh air, we can drive up a bit until you make up your mind. You can discuss what you have in mind, if you like. I can probably offer some insight." He says and I nod as he stands up, shuffling over to his closet. "Go on ahead and get ready, wear something nice." He says and I nod, heading back to my room. I had comfortable maternity clothes at this house from my previous pregnancy, though I didn't really have anything dressy or classy. I sift through my options, deciding on a dusty pink knee length dress with a gold belt. I grab my gold flats as well, pairing them up- this was as good as it was gonna get. I slip out, walking to the front entrance and waiting for Kanori to finish talking with Kioshi. I felt pretty antsy about the whole thing, but… it would be what's best for my children, right? I mean, they seemed pretty reasonable… it wouldn't hurt to try and appeal to them and if they refuse… well, at least I tried. Besides… dad had been preparing me for this moment until the day on his deathbed, he said that they were good people… he put his faith in them, even beyond his grave.

"Hey, I'm taking Kimiko out for a drive." Kanori says as he peeks into his father's study, seeing him flipping through the paperwork. "Wait, what?" Kioshi says as he lifts his head to look at Kanori, seeming confused as he sets the paperwork down. "I'm taking Kimiko for a drive, she said she could use some fresh air, so… are those the results?" Kanori asks as he shuffles over, dressed in a suit as his father blinks. "Oh… um, yes. That's fine. These are the results." Kioshi says, returning his eyes to the paperwork. So far, so good- he had checked the people who didn't want to be held responsible for their results first, it seemed they weren't the father- but Kioshi hadn't found the positive result yet. "Do we know who the father is yet?" Kanori asks, taking a seat in front of his desk as Kioshi shuffles through the paperwork, flipping the pages to the results- he was curious, too. "I haven't found him yet, but all the results are here. They arrived this morning, I just finished writing up the paperwork for the boys, but… so far, the bad eggs aren't the father. Not to say they're bad- just… you know." Kioshi says, Kanori nodding as they both lean over and look through the results.

"Oh." Kanori says as he points to one of the pages, Kioshi's eyes darting over and reading the results. "There you are… Now, let's see who you belong to." Kioshi says as he takes the positive paternity test, flipping back to the first page and looking over the name. "Well… I'm sure someone will be very happy with these results." Kioshi muses as he offers the results over to Kanori, who greedily takes them and reads it over. "Of course, this stays between us." Kioshi says, Kanori grinning as he gives the paperwork back. "Good for him, but what now?" Kanori says and Kioshi sighs, sitting back as he looks over all the paper on his desk. "Well, now… I bring the boys in and give them their results. That's all I really can do at this point… the rest is up to them." Kioshi says as he kicks back, looking up at the ceiling. "I hope he can get through to her, but in the end… it's all up to her, isn't it?" Kioshi says softly, taking a deep breath and slowly blowing it out. "Keep her out for as long as you can, I'm going to call the boys in and get this all situated. Goodness knows she's heading into her second trimester…" Kioshi says and Kanori nods, standing and heading to the door.

Kioshi calls Arthur first, having him gather all the potential fathers with their medical history- Arthur knew how to gather them the best. He gathers all the proper paperwork, separating them into files with their designated person as he hears the car start outside his window. He then puts the paperwork in his file cabinet, taking a deep breath and slowly blowing it out. He couldn't help but feel a little relieved, knowing that if Kimiko changed her mind… she'd be in good hands. He wanted more than anything for her to open up like she seemed like she was trying to now, for her to go out of her own will… he had hope. It was the first time in a long time she actually wanted to go out and about, to actually get out and socialize with Kanori. After a while he heard his door ring and he headed down, opening it to see Arthur waiting. "You got the results?" He asks as he searches Kioshi's eyes, though Kioshi steps to the side and gestures for him to come in. "I did." Kioshi says, Arthur coming in and swallowing thickly. "I- I don't need to know who the father is. Just… is it good?" Arthur asks anxiously as Kioshi closes the door behind him, guiding him up to his office and taking a seat.

"In my opinion… it couldn't be better." Kioshi says and Arthur deflates into one of the chairs, letting out a shuddering breath. "Well, that's comforting." He says, scrubbing a hand over his face and taking a deep breath. "Where is she?" Arthur asks, having noticed the house was eerily quiet. "She's out with Kanori, apparently she wanted some fresh air. I have hopes that everything will start looking up now." Kioshi says, Arthur's chest feeling tight as he swallowed thickly. "That's… that's good." He whispers, glancing anxiously at the older man. "So… is… is the father… one of…" Arthur says and Kioshi takes a deep breath, leaning back in his chair and twining his finger. "As I said, in my opinion, the results couldn't have been better. I cannot say anything beyond that without giving you a hint as to who the father is. Of course, if he wishes to make himself known to you in faith… I wouldn't be opposed, as long as I don't hear of it. Of course, we must remember the agreement on the matter." Kioshi says, Arthur shifting lightly and dropping his gaze down as he nods. "I'll trust your opinion, for now…" Arthur says, blowing out a deep breath and looking up at the ceiling.

"But as her friend, I can't help but hope it's one of them." Arthur admits quietly, Kioshi shifting lightly as he chuckles. "As her uncle… I have high hopes." Kioshi says, Arthur cracking a small smile as he feels his chest loosen. "That's… very comforting." Arthur chuckles, though they both fall silent as the doorbell rings. "Shall we?" Kioshi says, Arthur nodding as the two walk back down the stairs. Kioshi opens the door, being met by Kuroo who was bent over and panting. "I- I came- as soon- as I- heard." Kuroo pants, standing up and brushing his hair back as he catches his breath. "You didn't have to run, Kuroo. Please, come in, rest. We're waiting for the others now." Kioshi says, stepping out of the way as Arthur snorts. "I sent you the text and you didn't respond- I guess you didn't take the ride then?" Arthur says, Kuroo walking into the house and fanning his shirt. "I was in the neighborhood…" Kuroo mumbles, making Kioshi laugh as he starts walking to the kitchen. "I'll grab you some water, you two go on ahead to the waiting room. I'll distribute the results once everyone is here." Kioshi says, Kuroo blowing out a breath and heading to the sitting room with Arthur behind him.

"So, do you know?" Kuroo asks quietly once they sit in the waiting room, feeling tense and anxious. "Well… as her lawyer, it couldn't be better. As her uncle… he has high hopes." Arthur says quietly, Kuroo blowing out a breath as he scrubs a hand over his face. "That could mean a lot of things." Kuroo mumbles, making Arthur laugh as he drapes his arms over the back of his couch. "It could, but… I have a good feeling about this." Arthur admits, helping Kuroo relax as he twines his fingers. "I just… I just want her to be happy." Kuroo croaks, pressing his hands to his mouth as Arthur slowly nods. "She's out with Kanori right now… apparently she wanted some fresh air. I think we're on the right track." Arthur says, Kuroo nodding as they both fall silent when Kioshi comes back in. "So… how are we going to do this?" Kuroo asks, gratefully taking the water bottle that Kioshi offers when he comes over. "Well, we're going to wait for the others first. Then I'll take you into my office one by one and give the results. Then you'll leave with your results, hopefully without giving a hint as to who is the real father." Kioshi says as he takes a seat on the recliner, crossing his legs.

"Of course, as I told Arthur… if the father wishes to share the results in faith to those around him, as long as I don't hear of it… I wouldn't be opposed. However, the whole point of not just being open about the results is for the comfort of Kimiko and the father. It is a private matter, it should only be shared with trusted individuals and be a well kept secret. In no way, shape or form should this knowledge be given or held against Kimiko, for her sake and her sanity, regardless of who the father is." Kioshi says, leaning back and setting his hands in his lap. "You are allowed to keep the results and take them home with you, where you can review it later. However, I will still be needing to see your medical records at the time I give the results as per the agreement- for discretion of course." Kioshi says, though Arthur's eyes dart over to Kioshi who maintains a solid poker face. "Yes, of course." Kuroo says, his voice trembling as Kioshi looks Arthur in the eyes. Arthur covers his mouth, leaning his elbow on the edge of the couch as he drops his gaze. Arthur scrubs a hand over his face, looking over at Kuroo- he was obviously fidgety and anxious, distracted by his thoughts.

Everyone sat in the waiting room, in different positions- Kuroo's legs were bouncing, his elbows perched on his knees as he stared at the ground. Kozu was holding his switch, though he seemed too distracted to actually play it, instead opting to stare blankly at the screen, lost in his thoughts. Suna was leaning against the far wall, his hands tucked in his pockets and his eyes looking out the window. Bokuto and Noya were pacing, both fidgety and anxious. Akaashi and Suga were both sitting deathly quiet, starting off in the distance. Daichi sat in a thinking position, looking constipated as he stared at the door. Tsuki was standing to the side with his hands in his pockets, seeming pretty distracted himself. Tendo and Ushi seemed to be the only calm ones of the group, sitting casually and quietly watching as Bokuto and Noya paced. "Akaashi, if you'd follow me to my office." Kioshi says as he steps into the room, Akaashi practically jumps out of his skin as all the eyes in the room turn to him. "Yes, of course." He says with a trembling voice, standing and following Kioshi out of the room. Arthur walks over to the door, perching himself in the doorway and watching after the two.

Kioshi had officially appointed Arthur as his aide of the day, making sure the boys left after they received their results before sending the next person up. He would also make sure that if Kimiko came back at any time to let Kioshi know so they could resume the result giving another day. Everyone waited, holding their breath as they watched Arthur anxiously- minutes passed like that, everyone fidgeting and glancing at the clock. "Jeez, you'd think you guys were waiting to see if you have cancer." Arthur mumbles, shifting slightly under the gaze of all of the boys. "It's okay to breathe, you know." Arthur says, the boys dropping their gazes as Arthur watches the front door patiently. Akaashi comes down the stairs, empty handed as he walks out of the door. "Bokuto." Arthur says as he looks up at the stairs, seeing Kioshi waiting at his office door. Bokuto tenses, walking stiffly out of the door and up the stairs. When he comes down, he has tears in his eyes and is biting his bottom lip, looking pretty devastated. He walks out of the door, clenching the results tightly in his hand. "Kozume." Arthur says, Kozu jumping out of his skin as he stiffens, walking up the stairs with anxious eyes.

He comes down with his lips tightly pressed together, tears in his eyes and holding the file tightly. He glances at Arthur with a sad face, shaking his head before walking out of the door. "Kuroo." Arthur says, Kuroo's breath catching as he's frozen for a moment. Arthur waits, his eyes on the boy as he seems stiff. He swallows thickly before he pulls himself to his feet, his breathing picking up as he walks to the door. "It'll be okay, Kuroo." Arthur whispers, patting his shoulder as he passes by. Kuroo nods, swallowing thickly as he takes a deep breath, looking up the stairs. Kioshi waited at the peak, holding a door open- he dragged his heavy feet up the stairs, his heart racing as he walked into the room with his stomach in knots. Kioshi pulled the door shut, walking over to his desk as Kuroo stood stiffly before it. He watched as Kioshi reached into a file cabinet, shuffling through and pulling out a plain manilla folder. He turns, sits on his chair and sets the file down, pushing it towards Kuroo. Kuroo's breath picks up again as he lifts his trembling fingers to that folder, hesitantly taking it. His hands feel clammy as he opens it, swallowing thickly as he flips through the pages.

Every page he flipped his anxiety built, his fingers trembling and barely managing to pinch the pages apart. He finally gets to a page with highlighter on it, his heart stopping as his eyes dart over the results. He reads it once, twice, feeling the world and reality settling in on him. "You're going to be a father, Kuroo." Kioshi whispers, the weight of the words crashing down on Kuroo and crumbling him to his knees. Tears gather in his eyes, so many emotions flashing through him- he just cries, he cries like a baby. Kioshi rounds over, stroking Kuroo's back as he sobs, his heart pounding in his chest and body trembling- the child was his. The child that was growing inside of Kimiko's body… was his flesh, his blood. It made him so happy- it brought a new light to his eyes, knowing that she was going to raise his child- his child- his baby- his flesh, his blood. He was going to have a child with the love of his life, the girl he aspired for, he lived for- and he couldn't stop crying. He curled into a ball, his heart feeling tight as he realized all this meant- he was going to be a father. He was going to love that child, he was going to love that girl and care for her every step of the way-

He was going to watch her raise their child, the thought had him choking up with joy. "I know this is a lot, Kuroo. Trust me, I've been there… But you must remember, you cannot use this against Kimiko or pressure her. If you force her hand… she's only going to pull away. I know how tempting it is to scream to the world… but this must be hidden well. If she knows you are the father… she will see anything you do as pity, as you taking responsibility because you were forced to. I know you're more than happy to be a father, to take this responsibility… but right now, she will see anything of the sort as you being forced into that position. It's best that you wait for her to open up and ask for help… I'll do my best to help, but… for now, she needs space, for her sake and the childs. You can be a perfectly good father by just being there in secret, it will only make you better. The time will come when this can be shared… but right now, it's best it's not shared except with your trusted friends. Now… I need you to be strong. Take these results, go home… and then you can cry all you want, okay?" Kanori says, Kuroo sobbing as he nods his head, wiping the tears from his eyes.

"I'm here for you, Kuroo. I'm rooting for you- but this is a delicate situation. Just… trust me on this. You have to be strong when you walk out of here, no one can know you are the father until the time is right." Kioshi says and Kuroo nods, slowly sitting up and sucking in a shuddering breath. "I… Thank you, Kioshi." Kuroo says as he tucks all his emotions, holding the now tearstained results tightly. "If you need me… I'm a call away." Kioshi says and Kuroo nods as he pulls himself to his feet, giving Kioshi his medical history. "I'm happy for you." Kioshi says, patting Kuroo's back as he offers him a watery smile. "I know you'll make a great father." Kioshi whispers, another hot tear sliding down Kuroo's cheek as he nods. "I… I'll do anything." He whispers before wiping his eyes, sucking in a deep breath and putting on a mask before walking out of the door. Kioshi stays, Kuroo holding the results tight as he calmly walks down the stairs with his heart in his throat. He doesn't even look at Arthur, walking out the door- Kozu was waiting for him outside the door. He looks at Kuroo with hope and fear- it takes everything Kuroo has not to break down in front of his best friend and tell him the news.

Two hours later they're at the critter house, waiting patiently in the dining room with their results on the table. Neither one said anything, waiting for the last two of their little inner circle. With every second that passes by Kuroo feels his emotions ready to burst over, wanting to spill all of his secrets. Still, he bottles them up tight and keeps his eyes on the closed manilla folder as his mind is blank. If he thought anything, he would definitely burst- he wanted to show Kozu, he did, but he knew he should wait for the other two. The door opens and their eyes both dart open, seeming Suna's grim face and downcast eyes as he walks in. Arthur walks in after him, closing and shutting the door as they both walk over to the table. Arthur looks around the table as Suna reluctantly places his results on the table, looking at them like they had betrayed him. "So?" Arthur whispers and Kuroo chokes, everything overflowing as his eyes fill with tears. "I- I'm going to be a father." Kuroo sobs, covering his eyes as everyone looks over at him. He breaks down, turning into a sobbing mess as Kozu snatches the results of the table. He flips through them, his eyes darting over the results as he swallows.

His eyes land on the results, a lump forming in his throat as he looks up at Kuroo. "A 96.8% DNA match." Kozu says, offering the paper to Arthur who greedily looks it over with a smile spreading over his face. "I fucking knew it, all of Kioshi's hints and his speech- congratulations, Kuroo." Arthur laughs as Kozu darts around the table, squeezing his friend tight. Kuroo scoops the smaller into a big bear hug, crying into his shoulder as he lets out a bubbly laugh. "Well, shit." Suna sighs, cracking a small smile as he reaches over and pats Kuroo's back. "I'm glad it's you. Of course… I'd prefer it if it was mine, but…" Suna admits, though Kuroo shakes his head as he reaches over and scoops Suna into his arms. "I'm- I'm glad it's mine, I am. But I get it, I do- if it wasn't- I just- I get it. But- this? This is all of us. We can't pretend it isn't- and it's our turn. It's our turn to step up and… we have to bring her back. We have to get her to open up, it has to be us. All of us. This may be my child, but… it's ours. I'd gladly raise my child with you, I'd gladly have you all by my side… but we need to get her to open up." Kuroo says, all three of them nodding as they get to work planning.

"I'd like to negotiate my return to the family." I say, Akemi seeming surprised as Kanori chokes on his drink of water, looking between us. "Okay…" Mitsu says, also seeming startled though I take a deep breath. "I am willing to agree to the arranged marriage, but only if I can keep my two children. Of course, I would like them to have suitable homes and parents, but if possible I'd like to raise my children on my own. I will raise them to be the heirs of the family company, but I would also like to be a part of it. My father raised and preened me for the business aspect of our life and company style, as he believed you would bring us to the family at some point. If you would like to mentor me or have me take certain classes or business certifications, I am willing. However, I would like to know what I am raising my sons for first hand so I can properly raise them for the environment." I say, Mitsu slowly taking a drink of his water and setting it down. "That can be arranged… But why the sudden change of heart?" Mitsu says and I press my lips together, shifting lightly. "I'm sure you've been made aware of my pregnancy." I say, Mitsu and Akemi nodding as I take a deep breath.

"Unfortunately, as I am now… I cannot completely care for two children at my age as it is now. I am willing to make an arrangement between us… because quite frankly, there is no other solution. I am willing to accommodate you and your requests within reason, but I do ask that you be patient with me as I will be going through a difficult pregnancy." I say, Akemi humming as she twines her fingers. "I see… I have a question, if I may." She says and I politely nod as she nods her head. "Who is the father? With my knowledge I know it is not the kidnapper- is it perhaps the Pendragons?" Akemi says and I shift lightly, pressing my lips together. "It is not the man's, it is not Arthur's. I would rather not involve the father because they did not ask for this, I won't bring that responsibility or hold him accountable for my decision- he was under the impression that I could not conceive, I will not have him suffer the consequences of someone else's actions that forced me into this state. As far as it is concerned, this child is mine and mine alone, I ask you to treat them as such." I say, Kanori looking at me with bug eyes as he glances between me and Akemi, though I pay it no mind.

"I see…" Akemi says, turning to Mitsu who simply shrugs. "Well, that can be arranged. I will begin looking for suitors, in the meantime, until the child is born you will have your freedom. It is up to you if you wish to stay with Kioshi or if you want to move into the main estate. If you would like to have any other arrangement or accommodations to be made, you may discuss it with Kioshi. I look forward to your cooperation and hospitality, if I can do anything to put you at ease… please. Let me know. I may have come off as a bad person, but I assure you, I had no ill intentions and I am sincerely sorry for my first impressions." Akemi says as we all stand, though I can't help but feel a bit more relieved that they actually agreed. Akemi comes over and I offer out my hand, thinking that she'll shake it. "Welcome to the family, Kimiko." She says as she pulls me into a hug, squeezing me lightly and surprising me. "I'll have arrangements made for your kinship, it does come with benefits, so… Kioshi will help you through it." Mitsu says as he comes over and pats my shoulder, catching me off guard. "If you need anything, we're here." Mitsu says, offering me a kind smile as I nod.

"Are you fucking crazy?!" Kanori hisses as we are in the car, driving us back to the house. "No, I'm perfectly sane." I say, though Kanori groans and runs a hand over his mouth. "But, Kimiko-" Kanori sighs though I look him in the eyes, taking a deep breath. "I am doing what I believe is best for me and my children, Kanori. It was you who told me that they were reasonable people and it was my choice to reach out to them with my proposition." I say, though Kanori shakes his head, sighing heavily. "You think we wouldn't support you? We would! We gladly would and we gladly have! I know you, you've hated the thought of being brought into the family because of the media attention and the responsibility that comes with it! But for you to go past us and right to our grandparents-" Kanori says and I press my lips together, fiddling with my fingers. "But you guys just give and give, I can't expect that forever. They're giving and taking- I'm trading my life as I am now for the life of a dedicated, hard working mother." I say, though Kanori groans as he shakes his head. "But we're your family! We're supposed to give without asking for anything in return!" Kanori says and I let out a deep sigh.

"They're my family too, Kanori. I think they're losing a lot in this investment, but I'm gaining and I'm giving everything I have to give my children a chance in this world. I don't see why you're making such a big deal out of this, you said they're good people but you're making it out like I just made the worst decision of my life. I'm simply doing what I believe is best- my old life is lost, Kanori. It's gone- the best I can do is look forward and hope with hard work and dedication, I can set my children up for success in the family business. It won't only benefit me either- it'll benefit my brother, my mother, everyone. If I have to trade what's left of my life for this, then so be it." I say, though Kanori makes a frustrated face. "You still have your old life- you still have your friends, you still have a lot, Kimiko. They're willing to help, you just don't want to take their help." Kanori says and I shake my head, starting to feel frustrated. "I'm not doing this for me! I'm doing it for my children, so they have a chance! I'm not talking about myself, right now- I'm talking ten years in the future, maybe even twenty!" I say, Kanori falling silent as I throw my hands in the air.

"Because let's admit it, Kanori- I'm not getting anywhere right now and with another baby on the way, I've got a lot more to think about! I always thought I was going to be alone- now I've got two children and I don't want to hold someone accountable for me and my baggage. They're going to find someone who knows what they're getting into, they're going to give me a life that I can raise my children happily in- if I have to work for it, if I have to agree to an arranged marriage, fine by me. At least me and my kids will have a chance, I will give them that chance. I know that there are people willing to help- but I want to do this! It's the best option I have, I can't expect the others to drop to their knees and give their lives to me. I won't ask that of them either- we're all so young, it's not their fault that the man did this to me. I won't do it, Kanori. I can't, they have their own lives, dreams and responsibilities. I can't expect them to pay their lives for us to end up miserable- I can do this, I can be happy with this, everyone can be happy with this." I say, crossing my arms and huffing. "What about the father of your child?" Kanori asks and I shake my head, looking out the window.

"It's just as I said- I'm not holding anyone accountable for my child, nobody is responsible for this but me. I am going to be their parent, their sole parent- I would've honestly preferred it to be the man's, because at least then I'd know that I wouldn't have to worry about the father. They're all too young to raise a kid anyway, no matter how willing. I don't care who the father is because it's my choice to keep the child, not there's- I'm not going to accept pity and let someone ruin their lives because of my decision." I grumble, Kanori pressing his lips together. "Okay, on another subject, what if they want to be there for you because they want to be?" Kanori says and I remember Kuroo's words, shifting lightly. "Then so be it. That's just who they are. If it comes in use… then it comes in use. I don't want to accept anyone's help if I don't have to. That's just who I am." I mumble, Kanori falling silent as we arrive at the house. "You didn't have to agree to the arranged marriage." Kanori mumbles and I look at him, shaking my head. "That's all they asked of me when they first invited me to the family- I'm pretty sure I did." I say before I slide out of the car, walking to the house.

"Sorry, I have to take this." Arthur says when his phone rings, the table falling silent as he answers it, putting it to his ear. "Yes, father?" Arthur says as everyone watches curiously, surprised at Arthur's professional tone and posture. How would you feel about marrying Kimiko? Arthur's father asks, catching him guard as his eyes widen. "Pardon me? I don't know what you mean?" Arthur asks, furrowing his eyebrows as his father chuckles. I just got news from my mother that Mrs. Suzuki has announced Kimiko's official return to the family. Akemi herself reached out and offered first grabs at her hand in marriage. "She what?!" Arthur yells, feeling his heart drop in his chest as he processes the words. Yes, if you agree to marry her… the family companies will combine and you'll be appointed the heir. Of course, Kimiko will be working beside you, but you won't marry until after the child is born. "I- okay, I'm coming in now. We'll discuss this properly- I'll be in as soon as possible." Arthur says as he hangs up, bolting out of his chair. "What the fuck is she thinking?!" Arthur hisses as he dashes for the door, leaving all the boys confused as they hadn't heard a word.

"What the fuck were you thinking?!" Kioshi yells as he throws his hands in the air, making me flinch as I feel my face burning. "I-" I try, though he pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. "No, don't tell me. We're taking you to them right now and we're going to cancel this whole charade." Kanori groans, though I try to open my mouth to protest. "No, Kimiko. You should have told me this as not only your lawyer, but as your guardian and friend. You don't just go jumping into these things head first, you have no idea what you're getting into!" Kioshi scolds and I cower, pressing my lips tightly together. "I'm doing it for my children, Kioshi! I know this is going to be difficult but… I'm thinking of their futures. I can't do this on my own." I say, though Kioshi sets his hands on my shoulders. "That's why I'm here! You shouldn't have to worry about that, you're still young! I would gladly help you through this, I should have at least been there when you talked to them!" Kioshi tries to reason, though I look at him with tears in my eyes. "But this is the best that I've got! I'm willing to put in the work and earn my keep for my children's future!" I say, though Kioshi groans, rubbing his eyes.

"I could've helped you!" He says pleadingly, though I shake my head. "I can't just keep feeding off of your kindness, Kioshi. I don't want to be a parasite and ruin our relationship, I'm doing this because I believe it's my best choice for me and my family. My father believed they were good people, so I'm putting my faith in them and I'm going to do my best to prove that accepting me into the family and that letting my sons inherit the business is a worthy investment." I say, though Kioshi takes his hands off my shoulders, dragging his hand over his face. "Then I could have arranged that! You didn't have to agree to an arranged marriage. Besides! You're like a daughter to me, Kimiko. I would gladly support you, there is no bitterness! I know you take my kindness and put it forth, that you're grateful for every bit of it!" Kioshi says, though I shake my head and sigh. "When they invited me to the family, they insisted on an arranged marriage when I became of age. I'm doing the courtesy of consenting." I say and Kioshi opens his mouth, though his office phone cuts him off. "This conversation isn't over." He says, giving me a stern look as I press my lips together, turning around.

"Kioshi Suzuki." Kioshi says professionally as I head to the door, though he pauses for a second. "Hold on a second, Kimiko." He says and I pause, turning to look at him as he grimaces. "Yes, mother… I'll prepare her for the meeting. Yes, I will. Of course, mother. I understand, yes, of course I will. If- okay, she hung up." Kioshi grumbles, hanging up the phone and rubbing his eyes. "You have a meeting with a potential suitor, get ready. We're going to get you prepared- don't worry about the dress, we're going to stop and get you clothes." Kioshi grumbles as he stands, though my heart pounds in my chest as my eyes widen. So quick? I thought we were waiting till after the birth- who am I kidding? I can't tell them no, I just need to go along with this and be civil even if it was uncalled for. This was potentially my husband after all- I needed to make a good, professional first impression if we were to get along. I nod, heading to my room with a lump in my throat. I grab my bag, sliding on my flats and heading to the front door to wait for Kioshi and Kanori. They come down dressed to the T in suits, hair styled with their backs straight and heads held high, looking like royalty.

I walked into the house dressed in a white button up blouse, a suit jacket and pants as well as cream collared closed toe pointed heels. My bob was uniform, one side brushed behind my ear and the rest hanging free. They had done a natural but alluring makeup look on me, finishing the look off with some nice gold jewelry. My hands feel clammy as I see Akemi waiting for me in front of a door. "Why, don't you look wonderful?" Akemi giggles as I stride over, my back straight and head held high. "Thank you… Akemi." I say and she offers me a wide smile, pulling me into a hug. "I think you'll be very much satisfied with my choice, as soon as he agreed I knew you would want to know." Akemi says as she places her hand on the small of my back, guiding me into the room, seeing it was a waiting room. "Our guests are in the room, but I thought it would be best for you to meet your suitor first. Why don't you compose yourself and I'll send him in shortly?" She says and I hesitantly nod, walking over to one of the couches and taking a seat. "If you need anything, we're in the other room." Akemi says before she pulls the door shut, though I start feeling anxious and nauseous.

What if I didn't like him? What if he didn't like me? What if- calm down and compose yourself, Kimiko Suzuki. It didn't matter- just make a good impression, smile nice and keep a cool head. It wasn't for you, you were doing this for your children- you could deal with a slob if it meant that your children had a future and they were a half decent business partner. I take a deep breath, slowly blowing it out as I sit straight and cross my legs, putting my hands in my lap. Besides… So far with this arrangement, I had a lot going for me. Money, power- people seemed to think I was beautiful, so maybe I had that going for me too. Maybe he was a good person, maybe we could get along. Besides, if I didn't like him I could just be honest- but don't nitpick, they're being kind enough to give me this opportunity and choice. Okay, what didn't I want then- I definitely didn't want an asshole, I don't want someone who will be bad against my kids, I didn't want someone who will control me or try to take advantage of me… That was reasonable, right? The door opens and I lift my head, looking over- not too quick, not too slow- though I feel my facade crack as I see who was stepping in.

"A-Arthur?" I squeak, my eyes widening as he pulls the door closed behind himself, also dressed to the T and looking very much professional as he strode over. "In the flesh." He says as he sits down across from me, twining his fingers. "Now… what the absolute fuck were you thinking, agreeing to an arranged marriage?" Arthur asks as he pins me with a look, though I feel my heart sink in my chest. "Wait- Arthur- don't tell me, you're-" I choke, covering my mouth as he leans back, sighing softly. "That's right, I'm your first pick. If you don't say yes, I'm going to be very much insulted." Arthur says, though I swallow thickly. "Arthur, I am so… so… sorry that I got you dragged into this- I'll refuse immediately-" I say, though Arthur lifts his hand and cuts me off. "Stop right there. Listen to me- did I not say that if I got married to anyone, I would want it to be you? Am I not being courted right now by a bunch of girls I don't want anything to do with?" Arthur says and I swallow thickly, slowly nodding my head as he grins at me. "I think this could be good for us, though. You see, I have an idea where everyone can be happy over the span of 5 years…" Arthur chuckles and I furrow my eyebrows.
