It didn't seem possible that mere minutes could hold such extremes of emotion. That tiny seconds a man could count on fingers and toes could shift the world on its head.
I had just been holding Zara. Just watched her eyes dance, just felt her body soft and yielding under my hands when I took her in my arms, just heard her speak the words my heart had yearned to hear for most of my life from a woman I loved.
She had opened her heart to me. And then I had reluctantly left the conversation with my soon-to-be-wife, struggling not to dance my way down the trail because of the sheer joy bubbling in my chest.
She loved me. She had said it. Meant it. More than once.
