Chapter 51: Hope and Despair

The Grand Master wiped up some black blood off of the ground with his sleeve and held it directly under his eyes to observe.

"Black blood, black aura, bright red eyes." He squatted down to look at Ji Yunhe closely. When he lifted a hand to touch her eyes, the surrounding black gas suddenly moved forward and created a shield, blocking his fingers. Ji Yunhe was surprised, and the Grand Master raised his eyebrows.

"Although this demonic power is not under your direct control, it knows to protect its master." He curled his lips with considerable interest.

"Not bad."

His hand retreated and the black gas automatically dispersed, back to floating around aimlessly. Ji Yunhe turned her head to look at the blackness surrounding her.

"This is my... demonic power?"

The demonic power of demons was like the spiritual power of demon masters, each one having their own. Most demons emitted a unique glow when they used their powers. When Li Shu had made his blood formation to break the Ten Square Formation, his demonic power colored the air red. And aside from the translucent blue flash from Qing Ji and Changyi, a colorless glow was considered the most desirable.

Demons could be considered quite strange. Dying without a trace and having a colorless aura was their ultimation. Their existence seemed to strive for the concept of "nothingness". Unlike humans. Humans, both ordinary people and demon masters, lived on the principle of "acquirement".

"There are no black fox demons," the Grand Master said.

"Especially nine-tailed ones."

Or to be more precise, there had never been a demon whose power glowed black. Why? The Grand Master looked at Ji Yunhe, and his fascination grew as if he had finally found a rare novelty.

At that moment, Ji Chengyu's nervous voice came from outside, "Princess! Princess! The master has banned all visitation here..."

Her words were accompanied with the sound of a slap, then a barefooted Princess Shunde entered. She was wearing a bright red sleeping gown and her hair and makeup were undone. She looked into the cell and her eyes opened wide.

Ji Chengyu followed her in and stood off to the side, his face still red from her slap. He bowed his head at the Grand Master.

"Master, disciple is incompetent. I have failed to stop the princess." The Grand Master did not move his eyes off of the black gas around Ji Yunhe.

"Doesn't matter. You can go."

"Yes." Ji Yunhe turned her head to look at Princess Shunde and smiled.

"Long time no see, princess."

"You..." Ji Yunhe's black gas suddenly moved. It flew through the broken magic seal, and attacked Princess Shunde.

Princess Shunde was the only child of the royal family who had a double pulse. She immediately formed a shield with her spiritual power in defense, but it did not block Ji Yunhe's attack. The black energy pierced through her shield and aimed directly for her heart.

But then, barely an inch away from its intended target, the black gas was abruptly blocked by a flash of white light. Their collision made a loud dong that echoed for a long time.

Ji Yunhe smiled at the Grand Master and said, "Seems it's not completely out of my control." The black gas floated to her face and gently stroked her cheek.

"It still did what I wanted to do."

"You want to kill me?" Princess Shunde narrowed her eyes and stared at Ji Yunhe.

"Losing the jiaoren, betraying the imperial court, and now, wanting to kill the princess. Ji Yunhe, you really have guts." Ji Yunhe looked back at her with contempt.

"I do not want to kill you. I am just curious if the color of your heart is black, and if it's different from the black around me. If you die because of this, then it can only be said that I have done a good deed by accident."
