Chapter Three: Sophie: I Wish to Leave My Planet

I'm Mazila Murtuy, but you can call me Sophie. After all, you are an Earthling, and Sophie is an Earth name. I gave it to myself! Now you're wondering, I live on the planet of Horastia.

We are like humans too, but there are only a few differences between Earth and Horastia. Natural things here are different colors. For example, photosynthesis on Earth is green, but photosynthesis here is blue. Another difference would be that the entire planet of Horastia only speaks one language: Horastias. Horastias doesn't exist on Earth, and Earth has, like, over a billion languages or something. Now, you're probably wondering how I know all this. Here is my story:

"Mazila! Come on! You'll be late for the EDA meeting!" Mom called to me.

I groaned. EDA stood for Earth Disease Association. The leaders of Horastia were trying to wipe out the humans on Earth, with dangerous plants from different ecosystems, such as the Morlinian Rainforest, or the Horian Plains.

I didn't want to go. Wiping out the Earthlings was something I never wanted to do. The Horastlings had created the Earthlings thousands of years ago. It had required so much effort, including things like wiping the memories of prisoners and sending them to Earth as an experiment. So why did they want to wipe them out now?

The reason that I knew so much about Earth was that because, as we had created the planet, the scientists from our world had gone to Earth, disguised as Earthlings, with high-tech auto translators that would allow humans to understand Horastias and interpret it as an Earth language.

My dad, Herfeld Murtuy, left this planet and fled to Earth. Apparently, he, like me, had despised Horastia's plans. Mom talked about him all the time. I, on the other hand, barely remembered him. But Mom had a case file on the entire trial, and she made me read it three times a day. So I had it memorized.

Judge Juus: Herfeld Hezingtoo Murtuy, you have been called in today because you are accused of protesting against your world's plans.

Herfeld Murtuy: Have I now? Well, let's hear it.

Judge Juus, amused: You are not concerned?

Herfeld Murtuy: Why should I be? I have merely followed my heart's desire. Is there a problem with that?

Judge Juus: Absolutely. You are a traitor here, and you shall be punished severely.

Herfeld Murtuy: What betrayal have I done? There is no traitorism here.

Judge Juus: The EDA has made their decision. You are to be sentenced to Earth, and within a decade or so you will die from a disease transmitted to you by the EDA Council.

We still don't know exactly what he has done but maybe someday I will know.
