Chapter 14

“Aww, he’s a cute one, though,” the waitress with the dark hair, cut short and spiky said. Leo noticed she had full sleeve tattoos.

“We’re closed, kiddo. You might wanna check out the burger joint up the street,” his waitress said, then stopped and added, “Oh wait, they probably aren’t high class enough for you.”

“Hey Susanna, this is a restaurant not a comedy club,” Leo heard Dock before he saw him.

“That’s questionable,” Susanna snapped back.

Dock came out the front door of the restaurant and picked up a broom that had been leaning against the porch stairs.

“You left your ride,” he said jokingly and brandished the end of the broom towards Susanna.

Susanna laughed and gave Dock the finger. He waved her away, but not before calling out, “Love you, too. I’ll get you back tomorrow.” With that, the two women left.

“You let them treat you like that?” Leo asked.
