Chapter 3 - A Ten Minutes Interview

Chapter 3: A Ten Minutes Interview

Alyssa walked up to the group of people standing in the middle of the parking area. She recognized one of them from the television, a young, blonde woman named Maggy Green who was getting her make-up done by a nervous-looking artist.

As soon Alyssa was close to the group, someone shoved a camera in her hand and Maggy turned to look at her

"You are late!" She venomously. "Get in the car."

Alyssa followed her to the back of SUV, and the rest of the group disappeared aside from the driver who moved to the front seat. Maggy seems unimpressed as they pulled away.

"Listen, this is the opportunity of a life time for me." She said, checking herself out on her cell phone front camera. "We only have fifteen minutes for this interview. All you need to do is to keep the camera on us. You screw it up, and you are out of here. You got that?"

Alyssa raised her eyebrows. "Yeah, I got it."

Maggy stared her down, clearly annoyed at her tone. "If you would like to keep your job after today, you might want to think about how you speak to me."

"Okay." Alyssa answered not about to back down just because Maggy was a awmi-famous television personality. "Who are interviewing anyway?" She asked.

"You are too curious for your own good." Maggy rolled her eyes.

"Marcus Hunt, the CEO of Jager Industries. Rumor has it that he control the entire Riverton from behind the scenes. You should count yourself lucky that you even get to see him in person. He is the kind of man who can get any woman he wants."

Maggy fluffied her hair and adjustec her blouse as she spoke, almost as if she had other intentions other than just interviewing Mr.Hunt. Alyssa couldn't really care less about who he was. To her, he sounded like he had been a self-entitled man without any real personality.

The rest of the driver was quite, with Maggy mostly nit-picking at her looks and Alyssa staring out of the window at the city.

Finally, they arrived at a luxury country club at the edge of the city.

It was like something from a movie. Alyssa would never be able to afford to even walk on the grass here.

Really, this place was from an entirely different world.

Maggy hopped out of the car and walked up to the building as if she belonged there, even though Alyssa was sure that this place was out of her reach, she followed Maggy holding the bulky camera on her shoulder and watched the SUV drive behind them.

They were stopped at the front entrance by a pair of burley guards, and Maggy instantly made a face at them.

"Don't you who I am?" She asked with clear irritation. "I am Meggy Green from the RT channel and I have an appointment!"

Without speaking, one of the entered the building, while the other indicate that Meggy and Alyssa had to wait right where they were. Meggy wasn't impressed with that at all. She tapped her foot on the ground impatiently.

Alyssa was enamored with all the little details on the building itself. She could probably stare at the manicure lawns and the beautiful architecture all day. She didn't really want to go inside anyway. A place like is always full of people who taught they are more important than rest of the world.

After a few minutes of waiting, a short thin woman in red and black uniform appears at the door. She seems strict and formal.

"Please follow me." She said to Meggy and Alyssa as the door opened behind her. "Don't not try to leave the designated guest areas. Security will remove you if your behavior is unacceptable."

She walked ahead of them to an enormous foyer area, where several people glance their way and began to whisper.

"This way." Said the woman walking towards an elevator on the far side of the room. Maggy flipped her hair and followed proudly, trying to ignore the stare that came their way. Alyssa simply walked. The sooner they could get this over with, the better. Hopefully, she would land the job and get to work with other presenters than Maggy. She had to hope that this was just a test.

When they got out of the elevator, they were in a long hallway with crimson carpet and portrait of rich people from hundreds of years ago on the wall. They were brought to a room that was labeled "private" and the woman who had led them there nodded to the gaurd stationed in front of it.

The guard opened the door, and Alyssa could instantly feel that something wasn't right. A man flanked by two others stood over another man dressed in a similar uniform to the woman that had brought them to the room.

"Please, Mr.Hunt." the man begged, and the scene continued as if Maggy and Alyssa weren't there. "Please, I need this job. I have a family to look after. I swear to you that it will never happen again. I swear!"

The deep voice that answered seemed familiar to Alyssa, even though it seemed unnaturally cold and unemotional. "If you really needed this job, you would not have been selling trade secrets to our competitors, would you? You have to know that loyalty is important to me."

"I do, I do!" The man had tears in his eyes. The whole thing made Alyssa uncomfortable, but she couldn't help but think that she knew the tall man with the dark hair's voice from somewhere. She racked her brain for his name, but couldn't quite remember who she knew that bear name like that.

"Please, Mr.Hunt, please….. have mercy."

"Mercy?" Mr. Hunt scoffed after he said the word. "You will never work in Riverton again. I will make sure of it. Take your family and leave this city."

He turned to one of the men beside him. "Get him out of here."

The guard bent down and roughly grabbed the crying man by the shoulder. He dragged him past Alyssa and Meggy, yet he still kicking and shouting and begging for Mr. Hunt to reconsider. Marcus Hunt ignored him, walked forward to the large leather couch at the other end of the room.

The other man turned towards Alyssa and Meggy, the first person to acknowledge that they were there.

As he spoke, the door was closed behind them. "I am James Killer, Mr. Hunt's personal assistant. He has informed me that you have ten minutes for this interview.

"Ten Minutes?" Meggy was outraged, although she spoke with a nervous voice. "I was promised fifteen minutes!"

"If you don't want agree with the arrangement, you may take your leave immediately." James answered without skipping a beat. "Mr. Hunt is a busy man. I am certain he would enjoy enjoy a ten-minute break.

"Fine." Maggy replied, and James showed her to an armchair across from the couch. "You, go stand over there." Maggy said to Alyssa.

Alyssa decided not to point out how rude she was being, and instead went to stand between the chair and the couch so that she could have a good angle to film at.

She looked over to Marcus Hunt, who was now sprawled across the couch, sitting with his long leg crossed at the ankle in front of him.

Alyssa recognized him immediately when she saw his face. Those sharp features and black eyes, the lips that invited dangerous kisses, the body that hid enormous power under that navy suit.

This was the same man she has slept with three years ago. The that she had thought could have been an escort.

She tried not to gasp at the realization. Marcus Hunt, powerful billionaire CEO, was the father of her six children.

"Mr. Hunt, thank you for having us." Maggy said,  obviously having no idea of what Alyssa had just realized. "It is truly an honor to be able to speak with you today."

Marcus' eyes flickered towards Alyssa, as if he had just noticed her. He stayed on her for just a moment too long and she wondered if he recognized her tooo. Then, he turned his attention back to Maggy.

"Yes, yes. You said you wanted an interview and I am here. What do you want to know.
