Headmaster meeting

As I woke up I inspected the room I was sleeping in. Next to me still laid Rowena, we had spent the night together like we often did in the past months, but usually she would have left to teach some classes before I woke up.

Looking at her, I stood up and prepared some breakfast like every breakfast I was reminded again that Samar was a lifesaver through him, I could still my thirst for coffee. He sent me sacks of coffee whenever I asked for some.

Eating and coffee drinking I looked at my wife. Weird I thought she should have stood up early today, after all it was a special day today. A new batch of students should arrive today and usually the four headmasters discussed on how to split them, but today it looked like she had overslept.

Still debating in my head on whether I should wake her or not a pillow hit the backside of my back. She apparently had woken up, it seems like I wasn't that silent in having breakfast.

"WILLIAM, YOU SHOULD WAKE ME UP" she screamed at me while stuffing her mouth with the contents of my plate. She rushed out of the room to the headmaster meeting that should have begun an hour ago. While she was running I shot a cleaning charm after her.

While I loved to annoy her, I still wanted her to not stress out too much. Of cause she could do those herself, but she could forget anything beside the thing she was focused on. Now sitting before an empty plate I looked outside. It was a beautiful morning the sun was shining and despite living in what would become Scotland in a couple of centuries the weather was really promising. Thinking on what I should do with my day I finished my coffee, cleaned the plates and tidied up the room.

While I didn't have to do it, Hogwarts had enough Elves to clean all the rooms, I still did it as a sort of morning routine. Things like these helped me to organize my thoughts and prepared me for the rest of the day. Having finished my routine I left the apartment in which I lived together with Rowena and strolled through the school. Some older students greeted me cheerfully while most of the younger students looked at me in confusion.

As I didn't hold any classes most students did not know why I was at the school at all. Almost no one had heard of me teaching anything. All I did with the students was the interactions inside the library I had become a librarian of some sorts. While not necessary voluntarily and more because of the students that would ask me on where to find something on a specific topic but still it remained a fact that the students treated him like some sort of google for any knowledge they would want to find. While I didn't answer most questions the younger students asked me, I always gave answers if I knew that it was impossible to learn it through other students, if it was possible however I responded that they should go to older students and ask them.

Like that I hoped to encourage the younger and older students to interact more with each other. Today the library was pretty quiet the classes had yet to start and the only students that would bother to go to the library today where those that already had some knowledge and wanted to extend that topic. While one student asked me for permission to read books of the restricted section i of course denied the wish of the student.

If there was a restricted section in the library in this time, there was a reason for it. While dark magic wasn't as wide spread as in Greece, it still was taught in Hogwarts so even most of those books were publicly accessible. I had not got my point through that it could potentially corrupt young students if they were learning such things at such a young age.

In these times it was common that a Wizard would lose his mind. It was either due to bad arithmancy or foul magic. Therefore, age didn't go hand in hand with power. Those Wizards that would risk something and try to create new spells or a system to create spells would often die due to their research and wizards that would constantly battle other wizards would get corrupted over time due to the strain on their minds.

While I was sitting in the library writing down a new theory I had, I wondered why Rowena hadn't picked me up already. She would usually meet me at the library, and we would eat something together for dinner. While today was the headmaster meeting it usually didn't take this long. They just had to agree on the sorting of the students beforehand and then some minor changes in the curriculum, so it usually didn't take all day.

Annoyed and hungry I eventually left the library, maybe that was her way of getting back at me for not waking her up as I was supposed to do, maybe she was already sitting at our table and would eat dinner but without me. Annoyed at that thought I went to our apartment to find it empty. I cast a couple of spells to check if she had been here, but she wasn't.

Now confused I started to walk to the headmaster office surely it wouldn't take that long would it. I noticed that I was wrong as soon as a past the statue that restricted the access to the office. The four idiots were screaming at each other and as they did I stopped before the door and tried to listen in.

While I was trying to eavesdrop on them, they stopped talking, and I opened the door to greet them. "How are you doing?" I said as I walked through the room to Rowena and kissing her.

"Get your wife to understand that first come, first served." answered Salazar.

"You guys started without me" shouted Rowena back.

Good thing, William you did it again you couldn't keep quiet didn't you thought I in my head. "What is this even all about?" I spoke out loud.

"We three agreed that this student was supposed to be in my house as he represents some of the core aspects of it and Rowena now wants to claim the student." Salazar answered.

That was unlike her, they had clear rules on the students selecting and usually Rowena would go back on those so this case had to be something special, thinking about that I responded "Shouldn't we prioritize the good of the students before your quarrels of which house is the best?"

These four were quite competitive and would often challenge others but as it was unbecoming of headmasters to do, so they now competed with the students as substitutes. Sometimes it reminded him of the times back in his first life when some soccer moms grew fierce over which group of eight-year-olds played better football, but he kept those thoughts for himself.

"You have no right to say that." I got now attacked by Helga "You don't have even one class even if you said that you would teach one." she continued. Great William I thought you did this to yourself. "If he goes to my house William will teach him one hour per week. " Now said Rowena.

I looked at her flabbergasted how could she use me as a bargaining ship. I was not the only one with a strange grimace on his face. Salazar's head started to get red, and he started shouting "THAT IS NOT FAIR, IF THE STUDENT GOES TO YOUR HOUSE WILLIAM HAS TO TEACH IN EVERY OTHER"

Seeing my free time dwindle I stopped them in their tracks. "Salazar is right with his initial point, if the students does resemble the features of his house and the others already agreed it would not be right to steal the student. I also agree to teach the student if he can pass a test that I will prepare for him."

Now Salazar had a smug grin on his face and said something about that he always trusted his old teacher to be impartial. While Rowena had looked at me like she wanted me to drop dead. " Oh how is the Name of the student ? I asked into the round.

"Merlin" answered Godrick.
