The Grumpy Kid, Nah! the sweetest kid.

The week following our move to Dayi Villa were filled with a mix of adjusting to our new life and enjoying the luxuries my sign-in rewards had brought. Shiyun, Ling'er, and I took our time settling into the spacious villa, but the biggest challenge was helping Shiyun's son, Juan Feng, warm up to me.

Juan Feng was a bright and energetic child, but he had been through a lot. His cautious behavior around me was understandable. I made it a priority to build a connection with him, starting with small gestures to earn his trust.

Oh and his real name was Juan Wei by the way it was thanks to lawyer shi we changed it without any issues.

One evening, while Shiyun was preparing dinner, I found Juan Feng in the living room, engrossed in a puzzle. I knelt beside him and asked, "Need a hand with that?"

He looked up, a bit wary, but nodded slowly. Together, we worked on the puzzle, and I made sure to let him take the lead. Over the next few days, I continued these small interactions, whether it was helping him with homework or playing soccer in the garden.

Next, we ventured to the roller coasters. Shiyun and Ling'er opted for a gentler ride, while Juan Feng and I braved the thrilling twists and turns of the park's largest coaster. His laughter and shouts of joy as we sped through the loops and drops were music to my ears.

After the roller coaster, we regrouped and made our way to the game stalls. Juan Feng was determined to win a prize, and with some guidance, he managed to knock down the bottles in a ring toss game. He chose a large stuffed bear as his prize, proudly showing it off to Shiyun and Ling'er. "Mom, Aunt Ling look I won this by myself as a prize"

We spent the afternoon exploring different sections of the park. From bumper cars to water rides, we tried everything. Shiyun and Ling'er enjoyed a relaxing boat ride while Juan Feng and I got drenched on a log flume, much to his delight.

For lunch, we found a cozy spot under a shaded pavilion. We enjoyed classic amusement park fare: crepes, sugarcoated haws, barbecue, stinky tofu, cotton candy, and ice cream. Juan Feng recounted his favorite moments of the day so far, his face glowing with happiness.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to the park's grand finale: the evening parade and fireworks show. We found a perfect spot along the parade route, and Juan Feng climbed onto my shoulders for a better view. The parade was a spectacular display of lights, music, and vibrant floats, each one more dazzling than the last.

When the fireworks began, the sky exploded in a riot of colors. Juan Feng's eyes were wide with wonder as he watched the bursts of light. Shiyun and Ling'er stood close, their faces illuminated by the fireworks. It was a magical moment, and I felt a deep sense of contentment.

We spent the day playing games, and enjoying the park's attractions. It was a day filled with laughter and joy, and I could see the barriers between us slowly dissolving.

Back at the villa that evening, we sat on the balcony, reflecting on the day's fun as Shiyun served refreshments. Juan Feng, tired but happy, leaned against me and said, "Thank you, Uncle Lin. Today was the best day ever." I chuckled and ruffled his hair lovingly "Still calling me Uncle I see, do you hate me that much."

"Not fair, I also want a hug" saying this Ling'er jumped on us and gave a bear hug to us all. "Aunt Ling I can't breathe" came Juan's voice immediately, which made us laugh.

As the sun set on that perfect day, I looked at Shiyun, Ling'er, and Juan Feng who's now fast asleep taking my thighs as makeshift pillows, my heart swelling with gratitude. We had formed a bond that nothing could break, and our journey together was just beginning.

At the end of the day I thought of visiting Ling'er's ex-husband to the prison with her tomorrow as I didn't have any work of my own to do.
