Chapter 16: Plot Thickens

"Now, you can always turn the atmosphere to become extremely happy and vibrant. Just will it to happen and think of your memories." Noriko told me.

"You can also use your other emotions but without going through this initiation of sorts, it won't be as powerful. You are affecting nature after all."

"That being said. I'm not too sure. I have books about your race but their records on this is extremely vague."

"Now, it's time for your Tritons side training." She told me, signaling me to pick my Ukulele up.

I did as she told, and now she told me something that confused me.

"Play it, but think of the melody becoming unpleasant." She told me.

I was confused by her words. But I did as I was told.

As I held the Ukulele, it felt familiar in my hands. I had spent months practicing at one point, but eventually threw it aside as I wasn't gaining attention in it anymore.

As I strummed the strings, I thought about it sounding different from my strumming patterns, and instantly, I heard an unpleasant 'Twang,' sang, like a string breaking.

I don't even know how the Ukulele made that sound. I didn't strum any differently than I used to.

"Good, it seems like you started as quickly as you can. Your attunement to your Triton bloodline seems to be extremely strong." Noshiko told me.

"Noshiko, how is me making good sounds sound bad a part of a good power?"

She smiled at me slightly, moving out of the way and bringing over one of the glass vase made for decoration and placing it in front of me.

"Now, think of the sound being aggressively high pitched." She told me.

I nodded and I willed it to sound high pitched.

As I strummed, I felt the notes of the Ukulele change, as with every strum it became more high pitched. I didn't feel any physical pain from it, but it seemed like the vase did not agree as after about a minute of increasing the frequency it broke.

I then turned to see the floor had similar circumstances to any other glass materials.

"Tritons can control sound. At the highest levels it is recorded a perfect manipulation of sound, but this goes back to your ancestor, the original Triton and son of Poseidon the god of the sea." She explained to me.

"Now, when you strum your Ukulele, I want you to imagine it being concentrated and hitting me." She said, while activating her Aura.

I wasn't really scared about hurting her. She has to have innate defenses against a guy who just started training…right?

As I strummed my Ukulele again, I focused on concentrating all the sound coming out from the Ukulele just towards Noriko.

As I did, I heard no sound come out from the Ukulele whatsoever, and all the sound waves moved towards her.

I myself could visibly see the sound waves ripple through the air for but an instant, but since the speed of sound was so ridiculously fast, it hit Noriko, causing her Aura to break down and being thrown against the wall.

As she turned up to look at me, she smiled slightly and then continued on, "For Tritons, even a day means a monstrous gap in talent for their earlier years."

As she stood up, she wiped the dust from her clothes as she continued.

"You have an ability of Pathokinesis already, which to an extent can be used on yourself. Adding that, to your innate monstrous combination of bloodlines and your early starting point, you can easily pick up exercises which would take others months."

Then she walked over to me while patting my shoulder and saying," Well done, you have now basic control over your powers. If you ever need help, call me, but one of your kind has to train on their own." She told me as she left the house.

As she left, Archer came running back to stay near me but didn't jump me as he saw me in thought.

I concentrated on my surroundings, trying to hear everything around me, and my senses spread extremely quickly. It felt like a muscle I had never used before, extending all the way throughout my house.

I could hear every small detail, from when the air made contact into the furniture and even ants crawling.

Surprisingly I wasn't overwhelmed by the information being sent to my brain, as everything was processed immediately.

I then felt like a switch appeared in my mind, and if I pulled it, something amazing would happen.

But for some reason, no matter how much I mentally tried to pull it, it didn't work. The switch felt…gray. Like in a game if a map wasn't unlocked yet, there was a barrier stopping me.

So I reduced the radius of my senses, making it shrink slowly, and eventually when it reached a 5m radius around me, the switch became colorful and I could use it.

I took a deep breath and focused my mind on the task at hand.

I closed my eyes and visualized the sound waves around me.

I could feel them, moving and vibrating in the air, but I knew that I had the power to control them.

I concentrated on the energy within me, feeling it grow stronger as I willed it to do my bidding. I whispered to myself, "Switch on," and with that, I felt a powerful surge of energy radiating from my body.

Suddenly, I could sense the silence.

It was as if a bubble had formed around me, a zone of absolute quiet where no sound could penetrate.

I opened my eyes and looked around, and sure enough, I could see Archer meowing in panic but no sound reached my ears.

I realized that I had created my own domain of sound, where only I could make noise.

It was a strange feeling, to be surrounded by such complete silence, but I knew that this ability would come in handy in many situations.

Sound didn't escape this bubble too, which meant that no one would hear me coming. I could easily use this domain to attack as well, since only my sound waves were here it was extremely easy for me to manipulate.

I smiled to myself, knowing that I had unlocked a powerful new skill.

With a deep breath, I mentally switched off the power and the sounds of the world rushed back into my ears.

I knew that I had just taken the first step on a long journey of mastering my sound manipulation abilities.

5 AM, on the dot, like always…or so I thought.

Since I turned around to see the clock at 2am.

I was confused, I slept around midnight last night after recording another song and playing League Of Legends and Runescape, but I didn't know why I was awake at 2.

"I'm telling you he's our only hope." I heard a familiar voice coming from outside of my house.

I focused my hearing to hear very specifically Aiden, Kira and…Lydia?

I looked out of my window to see down, and I saw the trio, walking towards my door. I also saw Archer, glaring at them with hostile eyes.

He was at a window, on the first floor, staring at them menacingly while sitting on his ass and 4 paws.

"What do you mean he's our only hope?" Aiden asked, "And why is she here?"

I decided to walk down to the first floor while listening in on their conversation.

"The voices, it led me to a picture of Augustine. They said the only way everyone lives is to follow him. Kira's here because she's the only one who knows his address." Lydia explained.

"And how do you know his address?" Aiden questions Kira as he turns towards her.

"My mom and dad brought me here when he sang for us." She explained.

"Great, so our savior is a high-school musician."

I laughed a little at Aiden's pessimistic opinion and gathered my things as they walked around. I wasn't gonna interfere with the plot, but if they asked for help I sure shit wouldn't let them walk into Nogitsune's traps.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

I took up the Silver Knives that I had bought after being marked by the Oni, silver Brass–knuckles as well. My car keys, wallet and phone.

Those were all I needed, or at least I was assuming.

"Didn't Scott say the bite didn't work on him?" Aiden asked.

"Well then Scotts an idiot who hasn't been smart since the bite changes everyone or kills them." She said.

*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*

I walked over and then opened the door, to see Lydia's aura go from panicked to immediately calm.

She then, surprising the other 2, jumped to hug me and sighed in relief.

Ah yes, I forgot about this part.

"MEOW!" Archer screamed, scratching Lydia's leg causing the girl to move away from me and scream.

Archer then sat at my feet staring at the intruders and letting them know he owned the place.

I bent down to give him head scratches as I explained, "His name is Archer. He isn't friendly so I wouldn't pet him."

'How is that not friendly?' Kira thought, as Archer flopped to the ground asking for belly rubs.

"Anyway, what brings you to my house?" I asked the trio who turned to Lydia.

"Stiles is missing and….and I was wondering if you'd know where he was." Lydia asked me.

"And why would I know where he was?" I asked her as I sent Archer away.

"I…I….I." Lydia started to stutter in confusion since she didn't have an answer to that question.

"I just know." She eventually ended up with that response.

I waited for a bit, expecting more but then I eventually sighed since I saw no other visible reaction form the trio.

"Well then come on in."
