MY BESTIE IS SICK

Lily was smartly dressed in a blue mid-length gown slightly raised above her knees, she went into Emelia's room to tell her of her coming departure to work; she met Emelia on the bed, who looked sick and helpless.

"What's wrong Emelia?" Lily said in concern as she came over to Emelia's side and touched her forehead to check her temperature and noticed that her temperature was abnormally high.

"I am a bit under the weather and I feel slightly weak but that is not my concern, what I am bothered about is my blind date. I have a blind date I am supposed to go this evening." Emelia coughed as she was talking.

Lily patted her back gently, it was rare to see Emelia sick. She was the most jovial person she had ever known.

"Lily, how about you go instead of me? I am sick and I can't even go to work; I don't think I'm ready to go for any blind date, I don't want to give my date any airborne disease, do this for me."

"Please Lily please," she pleaded, her eyes sparkled.

Lily pursed her lips in thought. "I would have liked to go just that your date knows how you look." She paused and took a deep breath, She hates doing someone's dirty work for them. She sees it as being lazy but Emelia isn't just a person, she is her best friend and someone dear to her.

" I am sure he went through your profile, how can I pretend to be you?" Lily reasoned, trying to wiggle her way out of an undesirable situation.

But Emelia shook her head in refusal and said, "You don't have to pretend to be me, you go to the blind date and tell the guy that your friend is sick and couldn't make it. Just tell him that you are representing me." Stubbornly presenting her facts.

"But come to think of it, you have a boyfriend, who is in love with you. why are you still using the dating app?" Lily said.

She pouted cutely, "It is not my fault, this guy is very handsome, I went through his profile and I couldn't resist the temptation of chatting with him. He is very charming Lily and he is fucking hot." Emelia bit into her lower lip as she recalled the chat she had with Jack.

Seeing the expression on Emelia's face, she stood up from the bed.

"I'm not ready for this, unlike someone I have to go to work. Take care of yourself and go to your blind date by yourself." Lily said and bent down to peck Emelia on the cheeks and went to work.

She went to work late as usual.

"Shit!" She exclaimed she didn't know she was going to come this late to work. It was as if the universe ganged up against her to be arriving late to work every day.

She saw Justin and wanted to dodge him but Justin sighted her and walked up to her.

"Hi, Lily!" He waved his hand at her.

"Hi, Justin!" She smiled nervously, she was feeling guilty after being caught by Justin.

Expecting him to scold her for coming late instead, he smiled and said, "Have a wonderful day." And he walked away from her.

Mouth slackening, she watched as he walked away. He greeted one of the staff passing by with a gentle smile on his face.

Throughout the day, she felt uneasy.
