CHAPTER 13

When Adrianna returns to the office, the first thing she sees is the woman hugging Garret so tight as if she is here to assassinate him in a stupid way. But instead of stopping her, Adrianna is planning to enjoy the show happening in front of her. With the glass that she refilled with wine just now, Adrianna wants to see what will happen next.

Garret is desperate to remove the woman who keeps clinging to him. He doesn't want Adrianna to misunderstand anything. He wants to get her back as his girlfriend again. And to do that, Garret must do a great job and shows her that he is serious and not playing around.

After gripping and pinching the woman's wrists, Garret successfully removes Shayne from him and pushes her away. Then he quickly stands next to Adrianna. Without waiting for her to say anything, Garret quickly explains what is happening right now.

"Adrianna, she is Shayne Cruz. She is the one who my parents wants me to marry when we were still babies but I don't like her. I never liked her even once. That woman is irritating, annoying, stupid and a crybaby. I will only marry once in this life and Shayne is not the woman I want."

"Oh."

That's the only thing Adrianna had said before she takes a small sip of her glass. The smile on her lips is still visible on Adrianna's face. But for some reason, Garret feels nervous because of it. Then she suddenly stands straight and walks toward Shayne who is still shocked after she heard what Garret had said just now.

He openly described her in front of this unknown woman as someone irritating, annoying, stupid, and a crybaby. That is so mean of him! They haven't seen each other for years and this is how Garret will treat his supposed-to-be fiancee? Unbelievable!

Soon, Shayne realized that the woman who suddenly entered Garret's office without any permission is now standing in front of her. Shayne quickly composed herself and lifts her chin a little. While doing it, she is already sizing up the woman in front of her.

Shayne doesn't want to admit it, but this woman is really beautiful. She can be considered a fashion doll because of her fair skin and perfect body shape. The woman is also taller than her although she is already wearing three inches high heel shoes. Her wavy hair is also framing her pretty face and the smile on her lips is something that completes her beauty.

But she should not feel intimidated by her!

"Who are you? Garret's secretary?" Shayne asked first.

"Don't be stupid, missy. Your eyes are probably not just decorations, right?" The woman asked her back with a smile.

"Hmph. So what are you? One of his flings?"

"You—"

Before Garret can scold Shayne, Adrianna raises her hand to stop him. Soon, the smile on her lips becomes deeper. When she tries to step forward, Shayne subconsciously takes a step back to maintain their distance. She probably noticed her mistake when Adrianna's brow lifts a little.

'Just a small fry.'

"What are you doing here anyway?" Shayne tried to ask her again.

She takes another step back and put her guards up. Shayne also looks at Garret to see what is he doing right now. He is only standing not too far from the woman in front of her. Garret's undivided attention is only focused on this woman who is obviously trying to intimidate her.

"That's a very ironic question coming from you, little missy." Adrianna said. "As far as I'm concerned, I am always welcome in this office. As for the others, I wonder what the receptionist downstairs was thinking when she let an outsider enter her boss's office."

"Of course, she will let me go here because—"

"Shh." Adrianna shushed her softly. "I am not yet done talking. Where are your manners now, miss? Didn't you learn how to keep your mouth shut when someone is still talking in front of you?"

Shayne swallows her saliva but she did not tear her gaze off the woman in front of her. She keeps taking glances at the wine glass in her hand. Shayne is afraid that the woman will suddenly spill the wine on her face and clothes.

"Seeing that you are too impatient today, then let me properly introduce myself. I am Adrianna Lavine, the woman that Garret Dawson married and left a year ago after he discovered I was pregnant with our child."

"W-What?"

But before Shayne can process those words in her head, Adrianna dramatically let out a sigh before running her fingers through her hair.

"So are you really Garret's fiancee? Do you even have the slightest idea what are the other sins he committed in the past? Not only did he leaves me and my son. Garret also framed me for a crime I never committed. After that, he send our son to an orphanage and arranged for his adoption!"

Soon, tears fall down her cheeks but Adrianna carefully wipes them with the back of her hand. The smile on her lips has finally disappeared. Instead, her expression is now replaced with anger and madness.

"Garret, you made my life a living hell. I will make sure that you will experience my wrath! I am going to let you feel my son's pain when you heartlessly grabbed his back and threw him on the sofa!" Adrianna shouted after she turned around and look in his direction.

Garret, who is suddenly confronted by Adrianna, is speechless. He doesn't even know how to react in this situation. The only thing he can understand right now was the part where Adrianna can still remember what he did to the fluffy cat in her apartment a few months ago. Adrianna loves to call that cat as her son.

That cat doesn't like him at all and it was scratching his shoes. Annoyed, Garret grabbed the cat and threw him gently on the sofa. But he didn't expect Adrianna witnessed it all. She did not stop scolding him that day saying he should not treat her son like that.

Before Garret can ask Adrianna to pause for a moment, she suddenly lets out a scoff and takes a sip of her wine.

"What now? Are you going to tell me to stop because your fiancee is now here? Do you want to marry her so that you can cover up all the crimes you committed? Garret Dawson, you are really heartless!"

"..."

Adrianna looks back at Shayne with a dumbfounded expression on her face because of the things she is witnessing right now. She probably cannot believe the words that came out of Adrianna's mouth. Everything happened so fast that Shayne can no longer understand the real situation.

"If you still want to marry this ruthless man, then prepare yourself." Adrianna said to her. "I am going to make sure that all of you will pay for all the pain I endured for a long time!"

Maybe the current situation has become overwhelming for Shayne, she quickly leaves the office without saying goodbye to any of them. Her steps are so fast as if they are chasing her. When Shayne finally enters the elevator and leaves them, Adrianna shakes her head in disappointment.

"She did not even let me say my last mind-blowing line." Adrianna said before she turns around and looks at Garret. "What do you think? Maybe I can now become the next movie queen with my acting skills, right?"

"..."

"What? Are you that speechless to see my award-winning acting skills?"

Garret can only let out a helpless sigh and shakes his head. It's alright. She is still the same woman that he loves the most in this world.
