Chapter 18

Our story begins in the capital of Kotosyn where an unlikely hero will emerge.Walking along the dirt path that leads to his booming capital Galameth a young man at the ripe age of 16 was coming home from his morning hunt. Although he had not caught anything he had a content smile on his face. Today was his name day. HE WANTED traveL the 4 continents and make a name for himself as the captain of the Glirak. They are the elite Group of soldiers called on only by the King. One might ask how do you achieve such a rank?

It is quite simple killing monsters of higher labeled ranks and taking quests for different people. As you complete and defeat a certain quota of a rank you move up one rank of the scale. In the end the king of Risaga chooses the new Champions or Captains each year allowing enough time to pass and a new year to begin. Along with quests, champions and monsters there were in different Divisions. The Divisions were as follows Knight's- sword Swinging powerhouses that could cause major damage, Reaper's- Scythe users while rare due to the brutal training scythes need to be wielded are extremely fast and use it to their advantage. Though Scythe wielders because of their speed don't tend to like enclosed spaces, Scouts/Assassin- Usually sticks to the shadows and waits for an ambush or sneak attacks, and finally a Wizard- While primarily not suited for combat, because of the long time it takes to chant the spell. if equipped with a group these guys could become the group's Tanks, Hard hitters, Or Medical support who are just as rare as the Reapers but are just as if not more valuable to a group's survival. The divisions were made as a general set of guideline when measuring someone's strength.

Our hero was named Soaryn. Although raised by a poor Farmer family he loved staying in one place. Until he met Aerd who showed him that life wasn't staying cooped up in the slums of the capital but, to go out and make a name for himself to live and do something with his life. Aerd gave him some money for feeding him and letting sleep in his home. Soaryn then went out and bought a sword and a shield. He then went into the forest and trained himself. Working day and night for 3 months pushing himself to his absolute limit.

He stayed in the forest for his whole training 'trip'. Then afterwards he went to the palace located in the direct center of town. As he was on his way there he got stares and some laughter at the rags he was wearing. He payed them no attention and pushed himself into the collection office and dropped all of the trophies, pelts and fangs that he had Acquired from the numerous monsters he killed in the forest. The collection officer then handed him a slip of paper stating he was worthy to challenge the captain of the Glirak when the time came . The officer also payed him for the items he had sold.
