Chapter 13

The people that arrived were trained for several weeks before they were separated into the squads under the dragons to help defend the individual sectors. I hand picked the cream of the trainees. My squad had seven people, including myself, as opposed to the other dragons who had hundreds of people in each squad. Each squad was tasked with keeping the peace in the assigned sector of Sharnem.

My squad is designed to protect the whole of Sharnem. From the interior threats and the exterior ones. I made the choose to base my squad in the large caverns under the Sharnemian plains. My squad was made from the elites during the draconic combat training. Even the weakest of my squad had beaten three of the dragons during her training. She was a half-breed of ishkanshoo and dwarf. She was considered small among the ishkanshoos in that she was barely a head taller than most of the elves. Her name was Enho she had dark brown hair and the characteristic amber eyes of the ishkanshoos. She had beaten Benzi, Fraxin, and Kalahanda. When were setting up the base she helped make the lighting by using the power she received from Kalahanda to disintegrate some of the rock to create several dozen niches. After she had done that the next weakest which had barely managed to beat four of the dragons created the mirrors and inserted them into the niches. The man who made the mirrors and helped us with many missions ended up betraying everything that the Fallen Stars stood for, but that is something that I will delve into later. He was an elf named Zelphar. He had beaten Trunce, Fraxin, Gendelen, and was given the Iron Dragon brand from Draco. He didn't fight Benzi because Benzi refused to brand him due to the darkness he held in his heart. After the mirrors had been inserted I created the flames that they would reflect. Once I finished that I allowed the strongest of my squad who is a Porares who was known as Sten when he was still human. He had beaten all of the dragons and had been branded with the sigil of the fire dragon. Sten was given the opportunity to assume the mantle of the fire dragon but he refused saying that the power he had from the training was more than enough afterwords he requested that the fire dragon's brand be removed from his arm. He created the magnifying lenses for the flames as to better light the caverns. Once the lighting was done the other three I had selected arrived and introduced themselves.

The first of those three who arrived late to the caverns was a survivor of the massacre carried out in Vergulor, the dwarven capitol, she was stronger than Zelphar was, before I put his traitorous head on a pike, her name was Dakagrett. She helped to make the caverns far more livable by using the skills she had learned from working the mines in Vergulor. Dakagrett smoothed out the craggy walls, removed the stalagmites and stalactites, as well as adding the necessary support pillars in the training area after I made the request. The second was one of the surviving children in the HBCU. He was half-breed of elf and dwarf though he was considered a child during the massacre he was 35 years old due to the inherited longevity of both elf and dwarf. He was 61 before he was framed by Zelphar and was falsely executed by Draco for crimes against the Peoples of Sharnem. His name was Komad and he aided in the expansion of the caverns so that our squad could get anywhere in Sharnem with relative ease. He was also weaker than Dakagrett when it came to shear force but he would always win their sparring matches because he could see the bigger picture and plan accordingly. The last one of those who arrived late was a human who was raised by Veronia. He is only good for combat so he set up the training area and was there all day and every day we don't have a mission. His name was Saca which is an elven name but as he was raised by a spirit it makes sense that he wouldn't have a traditional human name. He grew up not knowing that he was a human or about the rest of Sharnem. He was sheltered by Veronia and before he left the Meadows of Light he thought that there was nothing else in the world.
