I Promise.

"No."

"Oh come on, please?"

"You will spoil it." Seunwo said looking at her judgingly. He held up the book in his hand, away from her reach. Leira pursued her lips.

"No, I wouldn't. I'll keep it to myself. This is a personal problem, Wo. Let me read the ending and I will stop bothering you."

"What's the point of reading the ending Lei? You wouldn't feel the emotions that the writer intended you to feel."

"Uhhhhh." She sighed. " But I need to know."

Seunwo shook his head when started pouting, giving him her best puppy eyes.

"What to do with you, really.." He gave the book to her to which she grinned in delight.

"I'm bored." Taejin said, cutting off the two beings from smiling at each other.

"Then leave?" The warm smile on Seunwo's face changed into a total flat face.

Leira snorted at his remark as she slowly invested herself into the book.

"What time would you get discharged tomorrow? I can help out." The male friend said, tilting his head to read the title of the book that Leira was reading.

"Around noon." Seunwo hummed, amused at how she was unbothered to swat Taejin's hand away from tugging on the book.

"Aight."

"You're on a hiatus?"

"Mm not exactly. I'm just free for tomorrow. Kai has meetings so I will be your assistant." Taejin said leaning back to the seat.

The private hospital room was undeniably cozy with Leira being his caretaker.

Well with her just being there lights up the mood.

"Ah, okay. Done. " Leira said closing the book. She looked to her watch.

"Toilet break. Bye."

The boys watched her left the room and Seunwo braced himself for another pep talk from his pop star friend.

Before Taejin could start, the door opened again revealing the mother of the patient.

"Mom."

"Good day to you, Mrs Han." Taejin said as the woman pat his shoulder.

"How are you feeling? Do you need another couple of days here?" The woman in her 40's said. Seunwo shook his head in an instant.

"No need for that. I'm healing."

"Now that I think about it, Dr Seunwo had been admitted to the hospital twice. Twice!" Taejin exclaimed.

"I don't think that's something to remind me off." Seunwo sighed.

Leira sat down by the vending machine with a warm cup of coffee in hand.

She knew that his mother would visit him around this time so she would always find an excuse to be out of the room for the time being.

The thought of acting normally in front of his mother with the fact that she was the reason Seunwo was hurt made her feel guilty. She couldn't bring herself to face the situation.

"Excuse me, is Han Seunwo admitted here?"

"One moment sir.....yes. He is indeed."

"Which ward is Han Seunwo staying at?"

"We can't give out our patients information, sir."

Leira looked up when she heard his name. She squinted her eyes to see the person clearly in case she recognise the person but she didn't.

"We're his friends. We went to the same University. You could call me him about us if you want."

Standing up, Leira was about to approach them when her eyes landed on the man's jacket when he had moved briefly.

She felt cold sweats all over her body. Looking at the men that are with him made her grew more anxious.

"Ah his friends? I see. He is in-"

Before the receptionist could give out his ward number, Leira without thinking further, she approached the men despite her on growing fear.

"What's your business with him?"

Upon seeing her, the men's face turned to a devilish expression.

"Perhaps we need to talk?"

"There's nothing to talk about." Leira said calmy. "Leave before I call the cops."

Her threat only made the gruesome men chuckled sickeningly.

"Miss Leira, Miss Leira. Your mother paid us handsomely. His life is your call." The man said tracing the strands of her hair. She clenched her jaw, feeling disgusted.

"Your call, Miss Leira."

"I was just told to hit a car. That's all."

Kai folded his arms as he stood at the other side of the interrogation room.

"He still refuse to tell who hired him. By the looks of it, we could only convict him for attempted murder." Detective Yong said sighing. He looked at Kai with concern.

"This is just my opinion but I think your friend is being targeted as a threat. The accident was intended to only injure him. Like a warning. Anyone having bad blood with him? "

"But why? Seunwo barely had any feud with anybody. He's a devoted doctor. Who would- Kai paused when his phone rang. The caller id made him answered the call almost instantly.

"Lei-"

"Can we meet?"

"Yeah sure. Is everything alright?" Kai asked when he heard her voice.

"...Yeah. Um, see you."

Just like that the call ended and he knew well that she is far from alright.

"I need to go. Thanks for the help Yong. " Kai said shaking the detective's hand and left the police station.

Bitting her nails, Kai can't help but to grow concern for his first love.

"You didn't call me to meet at the hospital rooftop while your beau is down there just because, I can tell that much." He said. Leira stopped abusing her nails.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, Lei. You don't have to ask."

"Do you still like me?" She looked straight to his eyes, he could see her seriousness.

"Yes." Kai said shortly, having no idea where the conversation is going to go.

"Will you still like me if I'm only going for your money?"

"Lei, I like you for who you are and you're not the type to-"

"Would you still like me?" Leira repeated her question clearly.

"Yes." He nodded anyways.

"Why?" Leira frowned and before she could realised it, tears started to stream down her cheeks. She brought up her palms on her face, hiding herself.

"Leira, what is it? What's wrong?" Kai asked. Seeing her crying again really give a stab to his heart.

"I don't know what to do..She is going to hurt him again."

That's when it all linked inside his head. Kai immediately stood up to comfort her, pulling her head into his chest, securely wrapping his arm around her slender body.

"Your mother?"

"Y-yes.."

Leira cried in his arms, thoughts going all over the place, thinking about how Seunwo could be harmed again.

Kai gently caressed her hair as she told him everything. It baffles him that her mother would go to that extent.

Sitting down at the bench, Leira sighed, getting tired of crying.

"Sorry you had to see me like this." She said. Kai just shook hi head, giving her a bottle of water that he just bought at the vending machine.

It was dawn and the sun was on it's way to set. Her eyes glistens as there'r still some tears visible.

"You shouldn't be. You look gorgeous as ever so it's an honour."

Kai chuckled when she punched his shoulder lightly when he tried to lighten up the mood.

"I'm more than happy to accept your proposal Lei, but you're not thinking straight right now. "

"What is there to think? This is what she wants."

"We will find a way, Lei. I promise."
