The past Kaladin was an orphan but he was allowed to work in a tavern since he was young, they even fed him there and so he earned money there without spending it.

The amount of money he had amounted to 10 silver coins. It was enough to last him until he was 16.

After spending time in the library he discovered that there are six continents in this world. He was currently in the Central continent mostly populated by humans and given this name by being in the center of the other continents.

The Western continent also mostly populated by humans and split in the Solar and Lunar dominions.

The Eastern continent had three kingdoms, the Ironclad Kingdom, home to Dwarves resided, the Ravager Kindgom occupied by Orcs and finally the Serene Kingdom inhabited by Elves.

The Northern Continent was divided in the Capital territory and Outskirts territory. It was known to be the continent where numerous races like demons, vampires, demi-humans and werewolves resided.

The Southern Continent was the smallest and least populated, it was where most spirit beasts resided.

The last Continent was known as the Dark Continent, not much was known about it except that it was surrounded by a large amount of fog and that it was hostile to the five other continents.

The Central continent was divided in 3 Kingdoms, Aurora Kingdom, Amara and Evengeline Kingdoms. He was currently in the Aurora Kingdom.

What he deemed as the most important was that once reaching sixteen of age, a person becomes an Awakened. Thanks to the awakening tablet they are able to see their what kind of magic they can use. It also showed traits and unique skills of the awakened.

His plan was to reach sixteen of age, in order to awaken and afterwards enter one of the three academies that were built by the five continents in order to nurture the future generation. Global academy was built in each of the kingdoms of the Central continent.

Kaladin was currently reading a book, its title was 'Basics of Awakening'. It said that when awekening a tablet of awekening is needed in order to see traits and unique skills. The tablet also showed the affinity the awakened has. Magic can be split off in two categories, elemental and specialized magic like healing or necromancy. There also exist variants in elemental magic that allows someone to heal or buff others.

Tablets weren't really cheap about 3 copper coins. He still had about 9 silver coins and the rent for the inn he was currently staying in costed one copper coins for 2 days.

The inn wasn't the best in town nor it the most confortable but he would able to stay in it for 6 months just in time to be examined in the academy.

He also understood that when awakening, one would be at Rank 1 and Rank 9 was the limit since no one ever achieved Rank 10.

Kaladin already bought a awakening tablet but he didn't know when he would awaken. He also informed himself about the academy entrance exam.

They would be judging his fighting skills, his mental fortitude, his traits and unique skills if he had any.

Only a thousand would be accepted. If he wasn't he would go to another

academy since Global academy started earlier than other academies.

He had finished reading the book and put it down while closing his eyes.

"Ughh. I will use this life as a opportunity to start over and live without regrets, I need to grow stronger since being weak in this world is pointless."
