Chapter 1

"Cameron, Cameron wake the fuck up!"

Cameron awoke to a strange scene, it was Cole, kind of. It was Cole but he was younger, he didn't have the dark bags under his eyes from the sleepless nights of the apocalypse, his face was shaven only the slightest stubble could be seen compared to the great bushel of a beard he had before, it was indeed a strange sight to behold.

"Cole is that you, what happened I thought you were dead?" Cameron stated in a surprised yet happy tone as he embraced his younger brother, "Yes it's me Cam I thought we were done for." Cole said as he returned the hug.

"So what the fuck happened, did we get reincarnated?" Cole asked " Yeah it looks like that, we must have given a second chance from someone up above." Cameron answered while looking towards his bedroom window.

It was dark outside, but the sun could be seen slowly rising towards the east. Cameron and Cole were English but they moved to America with their family when Cameron was 17.

Mr Robert Ferrous, Cameron's dad, decided to move the family business of smithing to America due to the higher demand for replica products in the states. The Ferrous family had been smiths for the past 600 years and the family buissiness had been carried on by Robert and his sons in the states and business had never been better, that was until the apocalypse hit.

The entire family was separated due to them living in different parts of the country, when Cameron and Cole tried to get to the second branch of the Ferrous Smithery in New York where their parents and sisters were it was bombed due to the overwhelming amount of zombies and evolved beasts in the area. They were never able to find their parents or sisters after that they were presumed dead, their younger brothers Logan, Klay and Declan were living in a condo in long beach. Logan was a renowned neurobiologist based at Long Beach Memorial, whereas Declan was a weasel for the local skate gang HCSG. Klay was a student at the Southern California Military Academy but was thinking about dropping out to become a MMA fighter for the juniors section of the Pride FC.

Cameron and Cole were joint owners of the main branch of the Ferrous Smithery in Pasedena California and lived in an apartment complex in the main compound of the Smithery, reserved for the high ranking members of the company. The compound was quite large, just the main accommodation building could easily house 600 people, but it only housed about 100 members of the company and their families resulting in about half of the complex being used.

Cameron looked back into the room and realised that Cole was still looking at him expectantly, "What's the date?" I asked him and he pulled out his phone from his pocket "January 21st" he replied. The first case of the virus was on December 1st so the inoculation period had started. The virus used was known as Covid-19 and was actually dispersed to the public to inoculate them for the coming plague. On February 19th a meteor veered towards earth, but before it could hit it was shot from the sky with a collection of lasers from the different space stations placed around the globe.

The whole world was stunned by the scene but they were quickly pulled from there stupor as the dust and debris from the meteor rained down upon the ground and forced everyone to lose consciousness. When they awoke the people they once knew were gone, replaced with bloodthirsty zombies.

Later people found out that the people not inoculated with Covid-19 were the only ones to turn, but people with stronger immune systems were turned into something else if meteorite shards struck there bodies. These people turned into what was known as Sterbens, they were more aggressive and had special abilities which gave them the upper hand against other beasts and from people also.

The meteor emitted a new kind of radiation and that was what the government's of the world put into the Covid-19 virus. This radiation could be used to strengthen one's body, mind and soul to help them evolve and gain new abilities which made them become Evolvers.

Cameron looked towards Cole and realised he couldn't use his evolved sense to gauge his strength. "So you finally noticed" said Cole "I can't see you either, that means we aren't evolved even though we've had the virus."

Cameron decided that he needed to call his family and warn them about the coming events, "You call the boys I'll call Shaz, Dad, Lexie and Allyssa to tell them to come to the main branch ASAP." Cameron said as he reached towards his nightstand where he saw his phone. "What do we tell them?" Cole asked "We just say we need them down here and it's very important." Cameron said as he dialed his Dad's number on his phone, Cameron hesitated before pressing the call button as he still felt a little guilty about his dad's previous death. He could have been faster in getting over to New York, it took him a whole month last time, they got there five days after the city was burned to the ground.

Cameron pressed call and waited for his dad to pick up on the other end, the dial tone seemed to go on forever before his dad picked up, "Hello, Cameron is that you?" came the voice on the other end, it was his Step-Mum Shaz. "Oh, hey Shaz how are you?"

Said Cameron "I'm good how about you Cam?"

She replied "Actually I have something really important that I need you, Dad and the Girls to do." Cameron replied in a serious tone, "I need you guys to come down to the main branch and bring all of the best workers with you, plus everyone that was diagnosed with Covid-19. I need this to happen and I will do everything I can to help them get here."

"Okay, this sounds really serious, whatever it is, if you guys are playing a joke I will get your Dad to cut you out of the will." she replied with a stern tone to let him know that she was serious, "We aren't this is really important, make sure you bring everything you might need you might be here awhile" Cameron said

"Okay Cam I will let your Dad and sisters know, bye now love you" she said then hung up the phone.

Cameron turned around to see that Cole was already done with his call and was looking out the window at something, "What you staring at" Cameron said as he approached Cole from behind.

"The Covid-19 quarantine camp is just down the road, we could offer up our front field and carpark like they asked before and then use them to inoculate everyone while they sleep" Cole said. Cole always was the one to make up the plans he wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer but when it came to shady deals or lurking in the shadows Cole was always the one doing the dirty work. "That's a good idea, that way we can keep more workers and less people will die." Cameron replied. He took out his phone it was now 8:35 so he called the number of the CDC office that was given to him a few days ago, and told them the good news. They were very thank full and said they would be there within the hour to set up.

He turned to Cole and said "Sorted, so do you wanna start the exercise?"
