The Same Outcome?

"Ah…" Alan screamed in pain a few seconds after emptying the contents of the syringe into his body.

Veronica looked at the scientists in shock, but she could barely do anything since the Siliks immediately attacked. They were even more ferocious at this point, trying to get to Alan.

Alan continued to scream in pain.

The leading Scientist shook his head with a wry smile as he let out a self-mocking laugh, "Hahaha, years of research gone, just like that. It didn't even have any use."

"It's not like we would've been able to take it out of here anyway, it's better trying than not even trying at all. At least we would know before dying that it's useless if used by a normal human." The other Scientist consoled the leading scientist.

Veronica might be one of the strong members of the Supreme Corps, but she wasn't the strongest. She couldn't fight against all four Siliks on her own. If there were another member of the Supreme Corps here, then the story would've been different.

Currently, the best Veronica could do was to escape with her life. If she wanted to save the Scientists, then she would die as well.

"Haha, yeah. It's not that bad if you think about it. I mean, what could be better than knowing that the result of your years of work was worthless before dying?" The leading Scientist asked, and before the other Scientist could reply, he answered his question himself, "Oh wait, everything!"

The leading Scientist didn't even have the strength to stand any longer. He had already given up hope of surviving this encounter. He sat on the ground and waited patiently for his death to arrive.

Alan had already gone quiet. This was normal for all their test subjects, they would die a few seconds after being injected with whatever they made.

They couldn't take the risk of using animals as test subjects since giving them such power might cause their own destruction. What they did was to run thousands of simulations, while doing multiple tests with the human DNA, only after getting some results would they try it out, but the result had all been the same, whoever was tested had died in the same manner Alan was about to.

Alan's heart had already stopped beating, and his body was starting to go cold. He was dead.

Bang!

Veronica was sent flying by one of the Siliks, and she crashed almost fifty meters away from where the scientists were located.

Before she could recover, one of the Siliks had already gotten close to Alan. It noticed the human who was injected with the dangerous substance was not moving, but it still released a powerful energy beam at him anyway.

Alan's lifeless body was hit by the energy beam and a large hole appeared on his chest.

Boom!

Veronica managed to break through the blockade of the three Siliks and attacked this particular Silik before it could kill the Scientists.

"Run, I'll find you after escaping from here." Veronica said to the Scientists.

Ezekiel was still out cold, and it was unknown when he would wake up. Alan was dead, so there was no use in bothering with the two youngsters.

The leading Scientist raised his head and his hopeless eyes stared around, then at Alan's body, "You can't protect us, leave."

Veronica shuddered when she heard this, she knew the Scientist was right, but she couldn't let them die. They were close friends of hers, and they were also the ones closest to finding the perfect weapon for humans against the Siliks.

The Siliks attacked once again and Veronica was forced to turn around, "Go, I'll hold them off for as long as I can. I will come to find you later."

"Veronica." The leading Scientist called her with a stern voice, "Leave, I want to at least die close to my final project."

The Scientist walked over to Alan's body and his pupils shrunk, the reason for this was that the large hole on Alan's body was closing, healing to be precise. It was regenerating at a speed visible to the human eye.

The jaws of the Scientist dropped as he watched an unbelievable scene. He couldn't even speak, his mouth was just wide open while his eyes were as big as they could get.

The other Scientist felt the leading Scientist had lost it and walked closer to him. He didn't get too close to Alan before he saw the shocking scene.

The four Siliks, as well as Veronica who were in the midst of fighting, noticed a change in the air. Looking in Alan's direction, they noticed a white smoke rushing into Alan's body.

The Scientists retreated when this started happening.

The Siliks discarded their battle with Veronica and rushed in Alan's direction.

Veronica didn't dare to let them get close to Alan. Alan seemed to be undergoing a change, and it was very likely that it was as a result of the content he emptied in his body.

Boom! Bang! Bam!

While they were fighting, the last Scientist had managed to somehow sneak into the van to get the other gun. He opened fire on the Siliks.

The Siliks appeared to have gone insane as they didn't bother with the attacks and rushed toward Alan.

Veronica naturally didn't let them get their wish. This was the opportunity she needed, and being an experienced fighter, she took advantage of it.

One of the Siliks lost one of its arms as they rushed toward Alan.

Veronica blocked their path, but they had broken through a few times.

By the time they were only a few meters away from Alan, he stood up.

The hole in his chest was completely covered, but that was not the thing that grabbed everyone's attention. Armor-like scales started to appear on his skin, protecting his body. His body grew larger, from being 5'10, Alan grew to over 7'5 getting close to the size of a Silik, but far smaller in comparison.

Looking at his figure, he looked just like a smaller Silik, only that he had more of a human-like appearance and his face was still slightly discernible from the scales on his face.

His eyes changed, and in the place of his regular human pupils, a rectangular red pupil appeared on each eye. His hand changed as large claws appeared on them, his teeth all turned dagger-like, and his ears grew longer and had a pointed tip.

Lastly, small horns appeared on his forehead.

Growl…

A soft sound left his lips.
