Phantom Traveler

A still frame of a tropical beach scene, Hawaiian Music plays. A plane taking off ahead, A very nervous man in a suit, George Phelps sits up and checks his ticket and then he enters the bathroom. The Intercom says "Thank you for lying United Britannia Airways." George is leaning against the sink, splashing water in his face. A second man comes out of a stall area and dries his hands and asks George "Nervous flyer?" George looks over at him and says "It's that obvious, huh?" The man replies "You know, what are the odds of dying in plane crash? I mean, what? Twenty thousand to one." George didn't say anything and watch the guy leave and he said "Wow, that's uh, really reassuring. Thank you."

On the plane, the pilot says "Thanks." The pilot, Chuck turns and addresses a Flight attendant Amanda and he says "Amanda how are you today?" Amanda looks at Chuck and says "I'm doing just fine today, chuck." Amanda addresses a passenger and she says "Welcome aboard 15C towards the back of the plane, on the right." The passenger thanks her and then Phelps is the next passenger on board the plane and amanda says "Have a nice flight, sir." He turns around, amanda sees that his eyes are completely black including the white parts and he says "I'm counting on it." She blinks several times, watching Phelps and then she shakes her head and another passenger is waiting for her and she says "um...uh, 11F, that's the middle of the plane on..." The Passenger says "Thank you." and she then finishes her sentence as the passenger is walking "...the left."

The co-pilot says "In just a few minutes our flight crew will begin room service in the cabin..." George turns to his seatmate and asks "Excuse me. Do you know how long we've been up?" The woman replied "Oh, uh..." She checks her watch and then she says "About forty minutes." George looked at the woman still and said "Wow time really does fly, huh? Excuse me just gonna stretch my legs." He gets up, squeezes passed the woman and heads to the back of the plane when he reaches the rear exit, he grasps the release handle a young man in the aisle seat, Max Jaffey notices him and says "Hey, what the hell are you doing?" George turns to Max his eyes black again, then he rips the door open and goes flying out of the window. The door flies off tearing half a wing off the plane, and the plane goes down. Amanda struggles to get to a seat after the oxygen masks deploy, to get one over her face. Max, Chuck and the Copilot already have them on.

Dean is sound asleep on his stomach, as the door opens, awaken dean and slips his hand under his pillow for a weapon as he turns to look, he sees Sam entering carrying coffee and pastries. Sarah was in the shower getting ready for the day she already had a change of clothes, Sam says "Morning, Sunshine." Dean asks in his sleepy voice "What time is it?" Sam says "Uh, it's about five forty-five." Dean asks "In the morning?" He sits up and looks at Sam and he asks "Did you get any sleep last night?" Sam said "Yeah, I grabbed a couple of hours." Of course dean wasn't stupid and he said "Liar, 'cause I was up at three, and you were watching a George Foreman infomercial." Sam says "Hey, what can I say? It's riveting TV." Dean asked Sam who sat down on the other bed "When was the last time you got a good night's sleep?" Sam looks at Dean and says "I don't know, a little while I guess it's not a big deal." Sarah came out of the shower and saw that the boys was both awake and said "Good Morning, didn't realise you was both awake." Dean said "Yeah Good Morning, I haven't been up for long and someone here hasn't slept." She looks at Sam and says "Sam, you really should get some sleep it's not good for you if you don't." Sam smiled and said "Good morning, look i know you two are worried about me but honestly I'm fine oh i got you a coffee sarah and pastry." She sat down next to sam and she took them and said "Thank you."

Dean says to Sam "It's a huge concern that you aren't getting any sleep." Sarah looks at sam worried and then Sam says "Look I appreciate your concern---." Before sam could finish his sentence Dean said "Oh, I'm not concerned about you, it's your job to keep my ass alive, so I need you sharp." Sarah is speechless and looks at Dean, who looks at Sarah and is about to say something but then sarah asks sam "Are you still having nightmares about Jess?" Sam looks at Sarah and says "Yeah, but it's not just her. It's everything I just forgot, you know? This Job it really gets to me." Sarah leans her head on his shoulder and her arm around him to comfort him and then Dean says "You can't let it, you can't bring it home like that." Sam looks at Dean and says "So, what? All this it....never keeps you up at night?" Dean just shakes his head and Sam continues "Never? You're never afraid?" Dean says "No, not really." Sarah says "Well i'm scared, i'm not gonna lie i never thought my life would be so different, but in a way i'm kinda glad it did i just wish jess was still here that's the only thing i would change."

Before it got any further dean's phone rang and he answered it and says "Hello?" The person on the other side said "Dean, its, uh, it's Jerry Panowski. You and your dad helped me out a few years ago." Dean said "Oh, right yeah. Up in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, the poltergeist thing, isn't back is it?" Jerry said "No. No. Thank god no. But it's something else, and...uh, I think it could be worse." Dean asks "What is it?" Jerry asks "Can we talk in person." Dean eyes Sam and Sarah and they eyed him back.

They arrive at the hangar and Jerry was saying "Thanks for making the trip so quick, I ought to be doing you guys and lady a favor, not the other way round. Dean and your dad really helped me out." Sam said "Yeah, he told us. It was a poltergeist?" A worker said "Poltergeist? Man, I loved that movie." Jerry looked at the man and said "Hey, nobody's talking to you. Keep walking, damn right it was a poltergeist, practically tore our house apart. Tell you something, if it wasn't for you and your dad i probably wouldn't be alive. You dad said you were at college, is that right?" Sam said "Yeah, I was. I'm--taking some time off and so is our friend here Sarah." Jerry looked at Sarah and smiled and she smiled back and then he said to Sam as they was walking "Well, he was proud of you. I could tell because he talked about you all the time." Sam looked at Jerry and then said "He did?" Jerry said "Yeah, you bet he did oh hey, you know i tried to get ahold of him, but i couldn't how's he doing anyways?" Dean said "He's, um, wrapped up in a job right now." Jerry then said "Well, we're missing the old man, but we got Sam and Sarah. Even trade huh?" To which Sam said "No, not by a long shot." Sarah agreed with Sam on that by what she's heard about their dad, Jerry said "I got something I want to show you guys and lady."

Inside the office Jerry said "I listened to this, and well it sounded right up your alley." He puts a CD in the drive and continues "Normally I wouldn't have access to this. It's the cockpit voice recorder for United Britannia flight 2485, it was one of ours." He presses play and it starts "Mayday! Mayday! Repeat! This is United Britannia flight 2485---immediate instruction help! United Britanis 2485, I copy your message---May be experiencing some mechanical failure." There was a loud whooshing noise and then Jerry stopped the recording and he said "Took off here, crashed about two hundred miles south,now they're saying mechanical failure cabin depressurized somehow nobody knows why. Over a hundred people on board, only seven got out alive pilot was one his name is Chuck Lambert he's a good friend of mine, Chuck is uh...well his pretty broken up about it like it was his fault." Sam asks "You don't think it was?" Jerry looked at Sam and said "No, I don't." Sam then says "Jerry, we're gonna need passenger manifests, um...a list of survivors." Jerry simply said "All right." Then dean asked "And, uh, any way we can take a look at the wreckage?" Jerry looked at Dean and said "The other stuff is no problem, but the wreckage....fellas and lady, the NTSB has it locked down in evidence warehouse. No way i've got clearance for that." Dean frowned and then he said "No problem."

Sam and Sarah are waiting outside for Dean who's gone into a copy jack and sam says "So surprised you aren't freaking out about all this?" Sarah looked at sam and said "Well as I said earlier on, i was at first not gonna lie but then i feel protected around you guys and i know jess is watching down on us and protecting us from harm, you know she'd be proud of you sam just like i am you know if you need anyone to talk i'm always gonna be here for the both of you." Sam smiles and hugs her and she hugs back and he says "The same goes to you as well and thank you." Then Dean comes out and joins the two of them and sarah says "You took a long time." Dean looked at her holding up three IDs and says "You can't rush perfection." Sam says "Homeland Security?" Sarah and Sam each take a ID and then Sarah says "That's pretty illegal, even for us." Dean said "Yeah, well, it's something new you know? People haven't seen it a thousand times." The three of them get into the car and after the doors was closed dean looked over at Sam and said "All right, so what we got?" Sam said "Well there's definitely EVP on the cockpit voice recorder."

Dean simply says "Yeah?" Sam simply says "Listen." He plays the recording, which has been edited to pull out a scratchy voice and it says "No Survivors!" Sarah then asked "No survivors, what does that mean there was seven after all." Sam says "Got me." Dean asked "So, what are you thinking? A haunting flight?" Sam says "There's a long history of spirits and death omens on planes and ships, like phantom travelers." Dean simply said "mm-hmm." Then Sam continued "Or remember flight 401?" Dean then said "Right, the one that crashed the airline salvaged some of its parts, put it in other planes then the spirit of the pilot and copilot haunted those flights." Sam said "Right." Dean said "Yeah." The Sam said "Maybe we got a similar deal."Sarah asked "All right, so survivors which one do we talk to first?" Sam said "Third on the list Max Jaffey." Dean asked "Why him?" Sam said "Well, for one, he's from around here And two, if anyone saw something weird, he did."

They arrived at the Riverfront Psychiatric Hospital and headed into the garden after they was told where they could find Max and after they introduced themselves, they sat down and Max says "I don't understand, I already spoke to homeland security." Dean said "Right, some new information has come up, So if you could just answer a couple of questions." Sam says "Just before the plane went down, did you notice anything...unusual?" Max asked "Like what?" Dean replied with "Strange lights, weird noises, maybe voices." Max said "No, nothing." Dean said "Mr Joffey--" Max corrected Dean and said "Jaffey." Dean said "Jaffey, you checked yourself in here, right?" Max nods and dean continues "Can I ask why?" To which Max replies "I was a little stressed, I survived a plane crash."

Dean then said "Uh huh. And that's what terrified you? That's what you are afraid of?" Max then said "I....I don't want to talk about this anymore." The Dean continued "See, I think maybe you did see something up there. We need to know that." Max looked at Dean and said "No, No I was...delusional, seeing things." Dean looks over at Sam and Sarah and says "He was seeing things." Sarah with her calm voice said to Max "It's okay, then just tell us what you thought you saw, please." Max looked at Sarah and said "There was...this-man. And, uh, he had these eyes---these,uh, black eyes and I saw him---or i thought i saw him..." Dean said "What?" Max continued "He opened the emergency exit. But that's...impossible, right? I mean, I looked up and there's something like two tonnes of pressure on that door." Dean simply said "Yeah." The Sam asked "This man,uh, did he seem to appear and disappear rapidly? It would look something like a mirage?" Max looks at Sam and says "What are you,nuts?" Sam and Sarah tilt their heads confused and then Max continued "He was a passenger, he was sitting right in front of me."

The three of them was in Mr Phelps house, sitting around the table talking to his wife Mrs Phelps Sam was looking at a framed picture and asked "Is this your late husband?" Mrs Phelps looks at the picture and says "Yes, that was my George." Dean said "And you said he was a...dentist." To which Mrs Phelps replied with "Mm-hm, he was headed to a convention in Denver. Do you know he was petrified to fly? For him to go like that..." Sarah asked "How long was you both married?" She looked up at Sarah and said "Thirteen years." She then asks "In all that time, did you ever notice anything....strange about him, anything out of the ordinary?" Mrs Phelps still looking at Sarah said "Well...uh he had acid reflux if that's what you mean." Sarah, Sam and Dean just looked at each other.

The three of them went to a store to play the part and when they came out Dean and Sam was wearing crisp black suits with white shirts and sarah was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt and black skirt and jacket and black high heels and sam adjusts his collar and Dean says "Man, I look like one of the blues brothers." Sam said "No you don't, You look more like a...seventh-grader at his first dance." Sarah says "Well i think the suit looks good on you, on both of you." Sarah smiles at dean and he smiles back at her and then they continuing walking dean still not happy with the suit but he couldn't stop smiling.

They all arrived at the warehouse and showed the security guard their IDs nods and lets them in. They walk among the plane wreckage and Dean pulls out a device and earbuds in his ears sam asks dean "What's that?" Dean said "It's an EMF meter. Reads electromagnetic frequencies." Sam looks at Dean and says "Yeah, I know what an EMF meter is, but why does that one look like a busted-up walkman?" Dean said "Cause that's what I made it out of, it's homemade." He grin proud with his work and sarah smiled she was impressed and then sam said "Yeah, I can see that." Their grins vanish and sarah goes and continues looking at the wreckage and dean runs the EMF meter over a piece of the wreckage with a yellow dust on it and gets an audible spike.

Dean says to Sam and Sarah "Check out the emergency door handle." He scratches the yellow dust and gets some on his hand and sarah asks "What is that stuff?" Sam said "One way to find out." He scrapes some of the yellow dust off into a bag." At the security desk, two agents in black suits approach the security desk and show their badges and the security guard looked at them confused and said "Homeland Security? What, one team of you guys isn't enough? The first agent was confused and asked "What are you talking about?" The Security guard said "Three of your buddies went inside not five minutes ago." The second agent looked at the first agent and they headed for the warehouse with several security guards bust in guns drawn and search, Sarah, Sam and Dean heard them coming and the Agents and guards see nothing.

Outside of the warehouse Sarah, Sam and Dean was peering around the corner and walk out casually, an alarm blares and they run to the gated exit, pulling off his suit Jacket, Dean throws it over the barbed wire at the top of the fence, and they climb over them and once the three of them was over he grabbed his jacket and then he says "well, these monkey suits do come in handy." Dean runs off , sarah and sam run after him. At the airport chuck is sitting nervously in a chair, his copilot is giving him a pep talk the copilot says to Chuck "Listen, Chuck. It's like getting back on a horse. Only in this case, a little twin engine not even a horse more like a pony and I'll be right there with you too. Anytime you feel like you don't want the wheel, i'll take over. Look Chuck, we don't have to do this today i'm not trying to rush you."

Chuck said "No, the...the waiting is worse." The copilot glances over his shoulder and then says to chuck "Okay, they're filling up the tank. Then we go." The copilot gets up and leaves, Chuck takes a drink of his coffee behind him, a cloud of black particles exit a vent and rushes into chuck's eyes. Back at Jerry's office he was looking at the yellow stuff through a microscope; what the microscope sees is replicated to a screen. Jerry said "Huh, this stuff is covered in sulfur." Sam asks "You sure?" Jerry said "Take a look yourself." There was banging sounds coming from outside the office a man shouting "You effin' piece of crap." Jerry says to the three of them "If you fellows and lady, excuse me. I have an idiot to fire." As Jerry leaves the office, dean goes over and looks in the microscope and Jerry from outside the office shouted "Hey. Einstein, Yeah you. What the heck you doing? Put that wrench down---." Dean said "Hmm, you know, there's not too many things that leave behind sulfuric residue."Sam said "Demon Possession?" Dean said "It would explain how a mortal man would have the strength, to open up an emergency hatch." Sam said "If the guy was possessed, it's possible." Dean says "This goes way beyond floating over a bed or barfing pea soup. I mean it's one thing possess a person, but to use them to take down an entire plane?" Sarah said "You ever heard of such a thing?"Dean simply says "Never."

On the airport tarmac the copilot is waiting by a small plane and Chuck, looking cheerful and relaxed, approaches. Chuck says "I'm ready, Let's do this." The copilot confused, laughs and follows Chuck to the plane. On the plane the copilot asks "How are you feeling?" To which Chuck says "I feel great." Copilot said "You'll be back flying jumbos before you know it." Chuck says "I hope so. How long have we been up for?" The copilot says "Uh...almost forty minutes." Chuck says "Wow time really does fly." Chuck suddenly dives the plane towards the ground, the scared copilot says in a panic voice "What are you doing?"Chuck elbows the copilot in the face, knocking him out cold. A tractor is trunding by as the plane suddenly appears, crashing into a telephone pole and it hits the ground.

Dean, Sarah and Sam are all in full research mode, with images and articles taped to the walls and strewn across the beds, and Sam is looking at something on the computer, Dean is reading something on one bed whilst sitting on the other next to sarah who was flicking through some pages. Sam then says "So, every religion in every world culture has the concept of demons and demonic possessions, right? I mean Christian, Native American, Hindu, you name it." Dean says "Yeah, but none of them describe anything like this."Sam says "Well, that's not exactly true. You see according to Japanese beliefs, certain demons are behind certain disasters, both natural and man-made. Once causes earthquakes, another causes diseases."

Sarah says "And this one causes plane crashes?" Dean gets up and says "All right, so, what? We have a demon that's evolved with the times and found a way to ratchet up the body count?" Sam said "Yeah, you know, who knows how many planes it's brought down before this one?" Dean snorts and turns away and Sam says "What?" Dean says "I don't know, man. This isn't our normal gig. I mean demons, they don't want anything just death and destruction for its own sake. This is big and I wish Dad was here." Sam said "Yeah, me too." Dean's phone rings and he answers it, Dean says "Hello?" Jerry says "Dean it's jerry." Dean replies "Oh hey Jerry." Jerry says "My Pilot Friend, Chuck Lambert is dead." Dean said "Wha---Jerry, I'm sorry what happened?" Jerry said "He and his buddy went up in a small twin about an hour ago, the plane went down." Dean asked "Where'd this happen?" Jerry replies with "About sixty miles west of here, near Nazareth." Dean said "I'll try to ignore the irony in that." Jerry simply said "I'm sorry?" Dean said "Nothing, Jerry hang in there, all right? We'll catch up with you soon." He hangs up and Sarah says "Another Crash?" Dean says "Yeah, let's go." Sam asked "Where?" Dean just said "Nazareth."

The Impala drives past a road sign reading NAZARETH 3, Black smoke is visible in the distance. In Jerry's office he's looking through the microscope again and dean says "Sulfur?" Jerry nods his head and dean continues and says "Well, that's great. All right, that's two plane crashes involving Chuck Lambert. This demon sounds like it was after him." Sam said "With all due respect to Chuck, if that's the case wouldn't that be good news." Dean looks at Sam and asks "What's the bad news?" Sarah said "Chuck's plane went down exactly forty minutes in flight, and get this, so did flight 2485." Jerry confused said "Forty minutes? What does that mean?" Dean says "It's biblical numerology, You know Noah's ark, it rained for forty days, the number means death." Sam said "I went back, and there have been six plane crashes over the last decade that all went down exactly forty minutes in." Sarah asked "Any Survivors?" Sam said "No. or not until now, at least not until flight 2485, for some reason. On the cockpit voice recorder, remember when the EVP said?" Dean replied "No Survivors?" Dean thinks and continues "It's going after the survivors. It's trying to finish the job."

It was night time Dean, Sarah and Sam are in the impala sarah in the back dean in the driver's seat and Sam in the front passenger's seat on the phone and he said "Really? Well thank you for taking our survey, and if you do plan to fly please don't forget your friends at United Britannia Airlines. Thanks." He hangs up the phone and says "All right. That takes care of Blaine Sanderson and Dennis Holloway. They're not flying anytime soon." Dean said "So our wildcard is the flight attendant Amanda Walker." Sam says "Right. Her sister Karen said her flight leaves indianapolis at eight pm. It's her first night back on the job."

They had no luck in stopping Amanda from getting on the plane so they had no other choose but to get on the plane one of Dean's phobias but he had the support of Sarah and Sam but that didn't make it any easier for him on the plane sarah is in the middle sam is near the window and dean is on the outside seat and he started humming Metallica and Sam said "Dude, are you humming Metallica?" Dean says "It calms me down." Sam says "I mean, we got thirty-two minutes and counting to track this thing down, or whoever it's possessing, anyway, and perform a full-on exorcism." It turns out that Amanda isn't possessed so that counted her out, then all of a sudden the EMF meter spikes and dean looks up and sarah says "What is it?" Dean said the word "Christo." The copilot turns slowly to face them, his eyes are black and the copilot goes into the cockpit Dean looks at Sarah and Sam.

The three of them headed to the back of the plane towards Amanda, Sarah says "She's not gonna believe us." Dean looks at his watch and says "Twelve minutes." Amanda says "Oh, hi flight's not too bumpy for you I hope." Dean said "Actually, that's kind of what we need to talk to you about." Sarah closes the curtains and Amanda says "Um, Okay. What can I do for you?" They explained everything and after a few minutes Amanda was finally convinced and then Dean says "Okay. The copilot, we need you to bring him back here." She was confused and then she asked "Why? What does he have to do with anything?" Sarah said "No time to explain, we just need to talk to him, okay?" Amanda hesitate says "How am I supposed to go to the cockpit and get the copilot?" After more convincing she finally goes and gets the copilot, whilst she was doing that the three of them got themselves ready.

After the demon leaves the copilot, it possess the plane it goes down and sam struggles to retrieve the book as Dean and Sarah splays themselves against the exit door, screaming and he finally manages to grab the book and starts reading it and finishes the exorcism. A bright electrical charge runs through the entire plane, which then levels out and various people ask if everyone's okay and Amanda sighs in relief dean and sarah come out from the curtain and Sam stands up. In the airport the passengers from the flight are disembarking to an area milling with uniformed agents (Paramedics, FBI, FAA, etc). The copilot is seated in a wheelchair with a blanket wrapped around him, being questioned by a FAA Agent and the FBI Agent asks "Anything else?" Amanda says "No, that's all." She sees Sam, Sarah and Dean standing across the way and mouths "Thank You." They nod and Dean says to Sam and Sarah "Let's get out of here." They head for the exit and he asks "Are you two okay?" They stop and Sarah says "Dean, it knew about Jess and about how she died." Dean said "Sarah, these things, they, they read minds. They lie all right? That's all it was."
