Chapter 1: Is This the End?

I awoke to the feelings of chills down my spine. My mind is alert from the get-go, along with my thoughts racing in overdrive. Will those scum bags come after me again today? Will they rip off my limbs and devour them. It's just this kind of world out there today. It is the new reality, and humans are having a tough time surviving.

Only a year has passed since the appearance of dungeons and monsters have appeared in society, and almost half the population has already been destroyed, or had become a meal for those foul beasts. Those who remain chose to hide their presence, though with higher tier monsters it deemed almost impossible.

A knock on my door increased my awareness to an even further degree, as I slowly unlocked the chains on the door and creaked the door open.

I could feel a gush of wind pass right by me as fear began to engulf me. Trembling, I turned around only to be grabbed by the neck while being lifted up off the ground. The sight of a vampire woman in the clothing of vampire royalty glaring at me with a disgusted look on her face.

That look of disgust soon turned into a look of glee, smirking right before ripping my heart out of my chest....
