Samuel Cai

Samuel was just a regular student at the Azure Magic academy. He has good grades even though he doesn't try, and is one of the highest ranked wizards in the school. He is popular but everyone just know shis name and face, no one actually has taken the time to get to know him properly and he was fine with that. His skin was tanned with little to no body or facial hair. He had long black hair, he was decently tall, and he had a built frame. But unfortunately he hides the fact that he is physically built because he doesn't want attention. But one day when he is walking to school, he stumbles into the most popular kid in school, Kaiser Daido. Kaiser had long reddish hair and was tall. He was slim but still had some muscle on him. He skin was also slightly darker than Samuel's.

"Oh, sorry." Samuel apologized.

"Oh, it's okay. I was actually looking for you!" Kaiser told him.

"Really? Why?" He asked curiously.

"I can't talk about it right now because of everyone around us so meet me in front of the Boar's Cafe after school, aight?"

"Aight. See you 'round then." Samuel says as he heads to class. During school, he took his mind off it but when school ended she immediately headed to the Boar's Cafe. And sure as hell, standing at the entrance was Kaiser.

"Aight, what is it?" Samuel asked.

"Well, I saw that you had the last name Cai on one of the boards that showed our rankings. You were ranked 3rd while I was in 2nd so I couldn't miss yours." Kaiser told him.

"Okay...Go on." Samuel was curious to what he had to tell him still.

"Well, my father once talked about a family friend whose name was Carcas Cai and I was wondering if you knew anything about it." Kaiser told him.

"Okay, I recognize that name, why?" Samuel continued on asking questions.

"Well, when he told me about him, he looked very unhappy when he would. He would drag out his words, sigh deeply, and look like he was holding something back. Do you know anything about what happened to Carcas? But I'm only assuming something happened for my father to act like this." Kaiser asked.

"Okay, I'mma tell you this right now. Carcas was my father. I remember your father. I remember you even. You guys would regularly come to our house. But one day, a bunch of bandits raided our village. They practically killed everyone except for me and my friend, William." Samuel told him.

"What happened to William?" Kaiser asked curiously.

"Well, we were fleeing from the city when he stumbled on a crevasse. William slipped and I caught him before he could fall. But what he said to me I'll never forgive him for. He said, 'let me go you fucking bitch. Stop thinking about others and let me fall." Samuel told him. Kaiser looked down sympathetically.

"I'm sorry that you had to go through that." Kaiser told him.

"Why? You aren't a bandit so why would you need to apologize? Anyways, if that's all then I'll take my leave." Samuel said as he stood up from his seat.

"Wait. Will you be my friend? I wanna learn from you." Kaiser asked him.

"Why do you want to learn from someone who is ranked below you?" Samuel asked him suspiciously.

"Because I know you're holding back. You choose to hide your strength just because you don't like the attention. So please, will you teach me?" Kaiser asked again.

"Ha, fine. Just go to my dorm room after school and I'll teach you everything I know. Just, be careful because the magic I specialize in was specifically built by my teacher who assessed me when I was younger so make sure you're ready for some changes." Samuel warned him.

"Okay, will do. See ya!"

"See ya."

As Samuel was walking back to his dorm room, he couldn't help but notice a girl being harassed by a senior. He recognized the girl, her name was Suzuni Weltz. She had long dark brown hair that dropped down to her thighs and bright blue eyes. She wore a simple white shirt, jeans, and sandals. She also had her hair tied back. The senior looked pretty big tho. Not muscular but he was tall and lanky. He was also as pale as a mother fucker!

"Hey babygirl, wanna come back to my place? I know you know how the girls are these days. C'mon baby, just give it a shot." He told her with a slur. Samuel stayed silent and watched from the sidelines. Suzuni then noticed Samuel just watching and signaled him to help but he just stood there. The man looks back and sees Samuel with his hands in his pocket and his bag slung over his shoulder.

"Well, if it isn't your prince char-!" Suzuni kicks the dudes balls and he drops to the ground.

"There you go, I knew you had it in you!" Samuel jokingly congratulated her while clapping.

"You didn't even help me!" She cried.

"No, I got him distracted. You see, humans are very expressive creatures. I stood there to make sure you made an obvious signal so that this dumbass could turn around so, you gotta credit me a little man." Samuel told her jokingly but what he said was the truth.

"Well. Okay...Thanks I guess. Wanna come to my dorm? The only way I can think of thanking you is with food so c'mon." Suzuni told him as she walked to her dorm. Samuel follows behind and enters her room. It was identical to his dorm but with the furniture in different places. She began to cook and as Samuel waited, he did his homework. After 30 minutes or so, the curry was done and they could eat now.

"Thank you again for being there."

"Yeah yeah, no problem at all! Guess you were lucky that I was around. Umm, thank you for the food." Samuel takes a bite and pauses for a second after swallowing the rice and curry. His eyes began to water but he held them back.

"What? What's wrong? Is the food that bad that your eyes are watery?" She asked him.

"No, it's not that. Just, I guess it's nostalgia but I don't know. It's like this feeling of wanting something. I guess, y'know what, nevermind. I'll just eat the food." After he eats, they sit and talk for a while and get to know each other fairly well.

"Thanks for having me, see you in school." The few weeks were like any other week but now he had people to talk to. Samuel felt strange yet good to actually have someone to be with. He guessed that the empty feeling he had for years was just because he lacked human interaction. He got to know Kaiser and Suzuni pretty well to the point where he actually showed them his true side. The childish, playful, and sometimes idiotic side of him. When he first did, he was scared about how they might react. But they didn't, not negatively at least, they were proud of him for finally getting comfortable with them and showing he truly is. He felt a stronger connection with them after he did.

But then on a Sunday afternoon, a massive horde of monsters wrecked the city. The academy was destroyed and the dorms were ruined. Samuel was caught in some ruble and had to force his way out. He saw the people run and scream as wizards and adventurers from the guild helped evacuate. Fires burned all across the city as rum and other alcohols were ignited by the wyverns. As Samuel was trying to sneak away from the city, he encountered a frost wyvern. Samuel used broken pieces of rebar as spears to fight the monster but he was eventually outmatched.

The frost wyvern swiped down and snapped the rebar straight in half. Samuel jumps back and throws the rebar at the dragon's head. The rebar sticks into its eye and probably stabbed some of the brain. It cried out in pain. Samuel was quick enough to grab a large rock and chuck it at the piece of rebar which stuck it straight through the brain, killing it instantly. Samuel limped away from the destruction and chaos and lived out in the woods for about a year. In that time span, he would get registered into the international adventures guild as an arch-wizard and had gotten better clothes because all of his stuff was destroyed in the raid.

Samuel hopped city to city trying just to survive off of what he makes from the adventurers guild. He was getting paid decently but all of the traveling was getting to him. He then finally made it to a large city, the capital city in fact. When he gets to the front gates, a few guards stop him and ID him. He hands over his guild card and he is granted access in.

Guild cards display literally everything about a person. It displays their thoughts, feelings, different memories, it also has a graphing system where it shows you their moods and how intense those moods are. If someone gets a hand on your card and decides to use it for bad, you're fucked if they find something bad.

As Samuel walks around the city with a scythe on his back, he finally gets to the adventurers guild and gets to sit down for once. He closes his eyes and a waitress comes over to him.

"Would you like to order something sir?" She asked him.

"A cup of water and a steak please."

"Right away sir." She then walks off and goes to get his food. After a few minutes of waiting, his food is done and he gets served. As he is eating, a woman sits down in front of him. He looks up to see who it is and sees that it was Suzuni.
