Interest in a Lonely Girl

Everyone said she was naturally a solitary girl. Yina Park, a thirteen-year-old student at Bright Minds Institute, was considered the solitary girl who didn't participate in any activities and seemed to have no friends.

'He couldn't stand seeing two of the same kind together, both ignoring what was happening around them as if they didn't care.'

When Nick saw Jonathan sit next to Yina, he couldn't help but think that. But then, as a model student, he offered to help Yina if she had problems with the new boy, like any exemplary gentleman would.

'You're a hypocrite.' Yina thought as she searched for her glasses.

But how could she hear it if Nick didn't even say it out loud?

That's because Yina had a family secret that they had never shared with anyone.

Do you believe in the supernatural? In the modern world, many would laugh at it. However, it is common for thinkers to hope it's true and that it's part of many lives around the world.

Superhuman strength? The ability to fly? Psychokinesis? Control of some natural element? Regeneration? These things that aren't scientific have been denied over and over again throughout history. Only a small percentage of people firmly believe in them. But Yina's family firmly believes that there are many more people with superpowers, just like them.

Why? Because it's the reason she is considered the smartest in school.

Yina Park has the ability to hear people's inner thoughts when she takes off her glasses!

In other words, she is a psychic!

Right now, she had just heard Nick's comment that he had just thought in front of her. Even though she wanted to ignore it, right now she was cleaning her glasses, and it was really something she hadn't intended to do.

'For supposedly being a kind boy, he has a heart blacker than a criminal's, a really disgusting type.' Yina thought with a slight frown.

She didn't like this superpower; she firmly believed she was cursed, which is why her father hated her after her mother's death. She usually didn't use this superpower because it changed her perspective on the people around her and kept her away from the rest, as she always had been.

Her lonely world, which surrounded her oppressively, was gray; she really wanted the whole world to go dark so no one else would suffer because of her. Every day was the same; everything repeated day by day like a cursed music box.

But after putting on her glasses, she noticed the look Jonathan was giving her cell phone.

"What?"

"I also play that video game; I'm level 300 and currently competing for the top spots in the world." Jonathan showed his account to Yina, who seemed not to want to talk.

"Well…"

'It's very strange; normally, common people wouldn't stop thinking, but he doesn't think much.' Yina tilted her head slightly and moved away from Jonathan, who was very open to communication despite being very similar to her.

"Who is Alicia? Can you raise your hand?" The teacher stood up, looking at his students with a smile.

"Here, teacher!" Alicia raised her hand cheerfully; her kind smile moved many male students.

"Since you are now the class president, can you lead the nominations for the missing class positions?" The teacher was slightly hoping that this simple task could be done by Alicia, who was a smart girl.

'Fuck you, damn old son of a bitch, how can you boss me around like this?'

'Fuck you, asshole.'

It's not that Yina liked to hear people's thoughts, but right now she was cleaning her glasses, and by chance, things were happening. But, by the way, what she had just heard left her speechless.

"I would be delighted to help you, teacher." Alicia showed a cheerful smile and walked to the front of the class without any stage fright that introverted people might have in these situations. She picked up the list the teacher handed her and asked loudly, "Is there anyone you want to nominate as vice president?"

This time, no one raised their hand. There were whispers, of course, but no one dared to participate in these acts where they would be exposed to uncomfortable situations and unknown people.

"Why aren't you the class president?"

"Ha, ha, ha, idiot, that's too much work."

"I barely know what day it is today; how do you expect me to be the vice president?"

"Should I say you want to be the vice president?"

"If you say that, I'll kill you."

"Do you want me to propose your name?"

"Shut up; if you nominate me, I'll nominate you."

Alicia smiled as if all these whispers were indifferent to her, but without anyone noticing, one of her eyebrows rose. 'Choose anyone, bastards, sons of bitches; don't waste my time with this nonsense.'

Yina was once again stunned. She really couldn't help reading people's minds now when her glasses slid down her nose because she forgot her main ones at home. Her long hair that covered part of her face prevented anyone from seeing her eyes glow in a bluish tone, but Jonathan, who was beside her with his improved vision, could see everything.

"Anyone? Oh, you! Yes?" Alicia then pointed to the one who raised their hand.

"I nominate the new guy!"

Jonathan's face contorted when he heard Nick speak like an idiot whose parents didn't love him. Sitting in front of Yina, his disgusting voice with a mocking tone was clearly perceived by him and everyone else. In turn, the whole class fell silent after that nomination.

"Jonathan, right? Very well." Alicia smiled and proceeded to write Jonathan's name on the board.

Although Alicia didn't seem perturbed by it, Yina knew clearly what was going on.

'Really? What a way to ruin the atmosphere. Nominating a reclusive idiot makes me nauseous.'

'Who the hell is Jonathan, and why didn't he introduce himself to the class if he's new? Is he an idiot?'

'Is she joking? He's the only one who looks like a ghost like Yina; it's definitely stupid to mention him.'

These were the random thoughts of her classmates. However, Yina was able to detect Alicia's thoughts among all this noise.

'Wow, great job making the class uncomfortable. You just made it harder for me. Congratulations! What do you want? Now that everyone's uncomfortable, they should nominate you, you piece of human garbage with a burnt brain.'

"Pft.." Yina almost laughed at that. Laughing while the atmosphere becomes heavy is something to be avoided. She is aware of it, or she'll be considered weirder than she already is.

Jonathan heard this but only looked at her before praying that someone would nominate someone else and free him from this curse he wouldn't wish even on his worst enemy.

'That son of a bitch, I'll be chosen technically if I'm the only one nominated... Oh, Nick, I'll break your face at the first opportunity.' Jonathan thought while squeezing his wrists in his hand and bending them from the force he was exerting.

"Does anyone want to nominate someone? If there's no one, Jonathan should be the class vice president." Alicia was speaking when a girl raised her hand.

"Oh, it's the smart bitch who nominated me for this class vice president stupidity."

"I nominate Mike, class president."

"Oh! Good choice! I vote for Mike!"

"Guys, I don't want to be vice president." The boy with the cut hair laughed while scratching his embarrassed head.

Mike, who was once an ace of the handball club last year, was charismatic and an easy guy to interact with. In other words, he was the most popular guy in the class.

Not only the girls, but also his friends, voted for him.

"I guess it's the majority. Vice president, could you help me here?" Alicia asked with a relieved smile that it wasn't the dead fish, Jonathan, who was blatantly playing with his cell phone.

When Mike stood up, his friends pushed him jokingly.

"Hahaha, don't blame me if I make any mistakes as vice president."

'Can you shut the fuck up and do the job I'm asking you?' Alicia laughed and shook his hand. "It's okay; being vice president is easy."

"I hope so." Mike accepted the handshake and then wrote his name on the board.

Jonathan, who had just defeated a level-legendary boss, sighed in relief. 'But why do I feel a sense of defeat?'

After that, the smart bitch—or rather, the girl who nominated both Alicia and Mike—was chosen as secretary.

The class continued until recess.

Yina sighed in relief and now only wanted to leave the classroom in search of something to eat. 'Thankfully, I wasn't chosen for anything.'

Mike and Alicia's group was about to leave too. But seeing Yina pass by, they unconsciously stopped to let her through.

"Wow, that was exhausting, huh, Jon?" Alicia sat in front of Jonathan.

"Yes..."

'Jon, you're the only guy along with Yina who stayed quiet the whole damn class, and I'm sure you won't give me any headaches for the rest of the year... You'd be an incredible dog if I could tame you.'

Although Yina was already out of the classroom, she, who was adjusting her glasses, could hear this thought from Alicia and got scared.

'A double-faced sadist,' Yina thought before continuing her way to a vending machine before the hallways filled with students.

"Are you going to the cafeteria? Want to come with me?" Alicia was the only one interested in the new guy.

"Umm, I'm not interested; I think your friends are waiting for you." Jonathan pointed to the two girls outside, looking at Alicia.

"Ah, hahaha, but you can still come anyway." Alicia proceeded, thinking she could have Jonathan as a lapdog with a little effort.

"Thanks, but I'll pass."

"Hm, alright then." Alicia nodded before rushing back to her friends. 'Stupid dog, not even the flies will come near you...'

After Alicia left, Jonathan stood up and was about to go to the cafeteria himself when an arm wrapped around his shoulders again.

"I'm hungry; let's grab something to eat, our treat." Nick chuckled in a friendly manner.

With no other option, Jonathan accompanied Nick to the cafeteria.

"Wait here; I'll buy something."

"Hahaha, sure, sure!" Nick laughed, expecting Jonathan to buy him lunch as ordered.

Jonathan waited in line while playing with his cellphone, bought some snacks, and returned to class without the tall boy noticing. As he made his way back, he saw no sign of the girl with shining eyes.

When the break ended, Nick returned with a furious expression. 'Later, in the back of the school, I'm going to break your teeth.'
