Chapter 40: A new enemy 1

(Einar's POV)

Grr*

A zombie approached me and in the next moment, his head fell.

"Phew! This is a tiring battle…" I sighed and dematerialized small spears after killing all 30 zombies within a minute with the help of Chastiefol's form Increase.

[It was not that long.] A text appeared along with a voice from the book of Chastiefol. It was Elaine, the spirit of the book.

"But this is troubling…" I said curiously after investigating clothes of zombies or undead.

[Yes, first they had intelligence and are blood-sucking vampires.]

"Hmm, their outfits are still rather clean for zombies… It's almost like they turned into zombies just recently." I said my thoughts after examining the corpses.

I had been requested to come to a small town in the southeast part of the island known as Felon Town. The request was to investigate the spawning of undead or zombies near town and terrorizing the townsmen.

For this request, I abandon Artoria's next expedition since all knights were capable of leading armies and help her in her quest so I didn't mind skipping some battles in order to explore other parts of this magical world.

After 15 days of travel via horse since I don't like flying all the time, I finally came to this town but before entering the town, I decided to roam near vicinity and immediately found the problem due to my sheer luck.

Normally it was the part where any knight was capable of cleaning the undead but something caught my interest.

(Flashback 15 days ago)

I was investigating some requests that people of Britons submitted regarding their problems and fund one that triggered my interest.

"A mage needed to solve monsters in Felon Town?"

It was a little weird where the request specifically requested the help of a mage instead of a knight and what's more it was to deal with the undead type of monsters.

[Einar, be careful. It seems like a trap.] I then saw a text on the book. It was Elaine.

"I know but something has been bothering me. It feels like I should go there where I will find some answers."

There were only two mages even if someone was targeting us, me and Merlin. You can cut Merlin off since he was not the type who will leave Artoria and deal with a bunch of undead so it only leaves me. I could also ignore this request but then it will have to be a knight from the order and I was reluctant to send a knight there who would take much time and resources whereas I could solve this problem in the span of few days.

"Or my enemy in this world."

(Flashback ends)

"It is definitely the work of either dead apostle or an elemental," I concluded.

Dead apostles include vampires or ghouls where elementals are spirits that manifest like humans upon their faith just like Vivian. Elementals include fairies like Vivian but not me since I was half fairy.

However, elementals could also have various aspects like vampires.

During my stay in this world I have read about vampires but never come across them. I had dealt with some undead but it was my first time I was facing undead created by a vampire.

[Be careful here.]

"I know." I snapped my fingers and shot a magic attack on spying raven.

"Must be somewhere in the town but… I am strong. I will deal with it."

[Yeah, even if Tristan wants to shoot you from few meters far, he will miss shots due to your broken luck. I know you will find it soon.]

"But first I have to get out of here." I then walked away from that place and burned it with magic.

A problem with these zombies, they were easy to deal with but problems come after that where you have to take care of corpses.

I then entered the town where I could feel an eerie feeling.

[Einar…?]

"I know."

Since I am a half-fairy, I am sensitive towards the life force. Although I was feeling presences, something was wrong with them. It was dark so I didn't see many moments and towns feels as if deserted from life.

I soon knocked on the door of a house which was supposed to occupy by the chief of the town.

Soon a young woman opened the door. She had long brown hair and eyes and wearinga leather jacket, a blue sweater underneath, and a black skirt with a flaming design on the end.

"I am Einar Sirius, the mage and knight of the round table." I directly introduced myself without concealing my appearance.

"Ah, hello, Sir Knight. I am Kate Wilson, daughter of the chieftain. You must have come here from the request of my father?"

"Yes, indeed. I have dealt with this matter already and require further information for the matter."

"Then please come in."

She then invited me to her house. Along the way towards the drawing-room, she told me the condition of the town. Her father was away to seek some help from the nearest city for the moment.

"Fufu, it is not suitable for a beautiful lady like you to stay in the house alone. You know there are wolves everywhere?" I said ogling her body without any intent to hide my lust.

"Ah haha… I-I am fine… If Sir Einar requires then…" She muttered with a blush.

After I sat down on the sofa, she went away and came back with a bottle of wine and glasses. Her jacket was removed revealing her beautiful dress.

"Sir Einar, will you care to drink wine?"

"Of course."

She then poured me wine and I took the glass.

"Miss Kate is really beautiful." I decided to praise her.

"Thank you, Sir Einar."

"But how come your facial features are so different from ordinary Britons."

"Ha ha… my ancestors are not native of this island." She smiled awkwardly.

Though she was a beauty, her eyes were a little squinted and her skin was rather yellowish as if-

"Are they perhaps from the east?"

"Ah, how did you know that they are from China?" She gasped and then realized her first mistake.

"I didn't say anything about China." I raised my brow.

Forget about China, people even don't know about the continent Asia here.

"…" She was speechless.

"Haha, no need to be serious. It seems like Miss Kate has a unique background." I chuckled to lessen the mood.

"Haha, it seems so…"

"But your parents look like ordinary Britons?" I pointed at the family portrayed hanging on the wall. They looked like ordinary Britons unlike her.

"I…" She realized her second mistake.

I smirked and took a sip of poisoned wine before purifying it.

"So Miss Kate, if you have asked me to meet you, you could have written a love letter and I would have complied with it. There was no need to kill townsmen and making this drama of poisoning me."

Her expression first darkened and then a smile appeared on her face just like villains being exposed in movies. Her eyes were also turned crimson and she released her mana that smelt like blood.

"Sir Einar is also appeared to be quite smart despite having the appearance of a young boy~" She smiled.

"Why thank you~"

"But you shouldn't have come alone to face an Incarnated Elemental. You were already in my trap the moment you set foot in my territory." She said and in a blink of a second, she was in front of my face. "Please die."

"Ah fuck, why does it looks like a certain pervert-"

Ah I forgot to put timer and never got the chance to even open the app. I was a little sick but thanks to our sun, it was only a little heatstroke. Anyway enjoy the chapter.
